고속 고밀도 디지털 회로에서 사용되는 디커플링 캐패시터의 고주파 모델링과 영향 (High-Frequency Modeling and the Influence of Decoupling Capacitors in High-Speed Digital Circuits)

  • Simultaneous Switching Noise (SSN) propagated through parallel power and ground planes in high-speed multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs) causes malfunction of both digital and analog circuits. To reduce SSN, decoupling capacitors are generally used in the PCBs. In this paper, we improve the equivalent circuit model of decoupling capacitor in high-frequency range to analyze the effect of SSN reduction accurately. The analysis is performed by the microwave and RF design system (MDS) method and the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. We compared the results by the ideal capacitor model with those by the proposed model.

  • Subsynchronous resonance(SSR) causes a torsional shaft torque on the generator. Damages resulting from the uncontrolled SSR have resulted in the breakdown in the shaft and costs for replacement power. This paper is to determine the feasibility of controlling SSR by the fast modulation of series compensation capacitors. The presence of subsynchronous currents in the system was detected by a subsynchronous relay which was modeled by the transient analysis of control systems(TACS) in electromagnetic transients program (EMTP). The capacitor segments were switched by bi-directional thyristor switches. These were modeled into EMTP. The strategy to switch the capacitors were modeled as a closed loop system. The paper proves that effective control of SSR can be obtained only by the detuning of the system and the removal or blocking of subsynchronous energy from the system. (author). refs., figs., tabs.

  • This paper proposes a voltage compensation method to improve the control performance of B4 inverter which is studied for low-cost drive systems. The B4 inverter employs only four switches and it has a center-tapped connection in the split dc-link capacitors to one phase of a three-phase motor. In the B4 topology unbalan-cd three-phase voltages will be generated by the dc link voltage ripple.   • In this paper, we present a new SVPWM strategy for a 3-level inverter. This SVPWM method is easily implemented without switching table like SVPWM. In addition, with proposed method, we can also keep the voltage balancing of DC-link capacitors and guarantee minimum on/off time of the devices. The principle of the proposed SVPWM method is described in detail, and its implementation method is also proposed. The usefulness of the proposed SVPWM method is verified through the simulation using MATLAB/Simulink.

  • 본 논문에서는 가변속 교류 전동기 구동에 많이 사용되는 3상 ac/dc/ac PWM 컨버터 시스템에서의 직류링크 리플전류를 주파수 영역에서 해석하고자 한다. 고조파 전류는 컨버터의 스위칭함수와 지수함수 형태의 퓨리에 급수 전개를 이용하여 분석된다. 전원측 컨버터와 부하측 인버터의 스위칭 주기간의 변위각과 비동기 PW이 리플전류에 미치는 영향도 고찰된다. 해석 결과가 PSIM을 이용한 시뮬레이션으로부터 나온 고조파 스펙트럼과 잘 일치함을 확인한다 제시된 해석기법은 PWM의 원리에 대한 이해를 돕고, 해석 결과는 직류링크 커패시터의 고주파 등가 모델링에 이용된다.

A High Efficiency Two-stage Inverter for Photovoltaic Grid-connected Generation Systems

  • Conventional boost-full-bridge and boost-hybrid-bridge two-stage inverters are widely applied in order to adapt to the wide dc input voltage range of photovoltaic arrays. However, the efficiency of the conventional topology is not fully optimized because additional switching losses are generated in the voltage conversion so that the input voltage rises and then falls. Moreover, the electrolytic capacitors in a dc-link lead to a larger volume combined with increases in both weight and cost. This paper proposes a higher efficiency inverter with time-sharing synchronous modulation. The energy transmission paths, wheeling branches and switching losses for the high-frequency switches are optimized so that the overall efficiency is greatly improved. In this paper, a contrastive analysis of the component losses for the conventional and proposed inverter topologies is carried out in MATLAB. Finally, the high-efficiency under different switching frequencies and different input voltages is verified by a 3 kW prototype.

Dead-Time for Zero-Voltage-Switching in Battery Chargers with the Phase-Shifted Full-Bridge Topology: Comprehensive Theoretical Analysis and Experimental Verification

  • This paper presents a comprehensive theoretical analysis and an accurate calculation method of the dead-time required to achieve zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) in a battery charger with the phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) topology. Compared to previous studies, this is the first time that the effects of nonlinear output filter inductance, varied Miller Plateau length, and blocking capacitors have been considered. It has been found that the output filter inductance and the Miller Plateau have a significant influence on the dead-time for ZVS when the load current varies a lot in battery charger applications. In addition, the blocking capacitor, which is widely used to prevent saturation, reduces the circulating current and consequently affects the setting of the dead-time. In consideration of these effects, accurate analytical equations of the dead-time range for ZVS are deduced. Experimental results from a 1.5kW PSFB battery charger prototype shows that, with the proposed analysis, an optimal dead-time can be selected to meet the specific requirements of a system while achieving ZVS over wide load range.

  • This paper presents a simple carrier symmetric method for the voltage balance of flying capacitors in FCMLI(flying capacitor multi-level inverter). To achieve the voltage balance of flying capacitors, the utilization of each carrier must be balanced during a half-cycle of the switching period such as PSPWM(Phase-Shifted PWM). However, the CRPWM(Carrier Redistribution PWM) method causes the fluctuation of flying capacitor voltages because the balanced utilization of carriers is not achieved. Moreover, it does not consider that the load current change has an influence on flying capacitor voltages by assuming that the current flows Into the load. To overcome the drawbacks of CRPWM, it is modified by the technique that carriers of each band are disposed symmetrically at every fundamental period. Firstly, the CRPWN method is reviewed and the theory on voltage balance of flying capacitors is analyzed. The proposed method Is introduced and is verified through the experiment result.

  • The flying capacitor voltage control of the flying capacitor multi-level inverter (FCMLI) is very important for safe operation. The voltage unbalancing of flying capacitors caused serious problems in safety and reliability of system. In the FCMLI, balancing problem of the flying capacitor has its applications limited. The voltage unbalance is occurred by the difference of each capacitors charging and discharging time applied to FCMLI. This paper investigates and analyzes multi-carrier PWM methods to solve capacitor voltage balancing problem. The Phase-Shift PWM (PSPWM) method that is commonly used, The Modified Carrier-Redistribution PWM (MCRPWM) method and The Saw-Tooth-Rotation PWM (STRPWM) method are discussed and compared with respect to switching state, balancing voltage of capacitors and output waveform. These three PWM methods are analyzed by using a flying capacitor three-level inverter and provided result through simulation. Finally, the harmonics about the output voltages of their methods are compared using the harmonic distortion factor (HDF).

  • This paper presents a novel prototype of dual mode control based phase shift ZVS PWM high frequency load resonant inverter with lossless snubber capacitors in addition to a single active auxiliary resonant snubber for electromagnetic induction heating(IH) foam metal based consumer fluid dual packs(DPA) heater. The operating principle in steady state and unique features of this voltage source soft switching high frequency inverter circuit topology are described in this paper. The lossless snubber and auxiliary active resonant snubber assisted constant frequency phase shift ZVS PWM high frequency load resonant inverter employing IGBT power modules actually is capable of achieving zero voltage soft commutation over a widely specified power regulation range from full power to low power. The steady state operating performances of this dual mode phase shift PWM series load resonant high frequency inverter are evaluated and discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results for induction heated foam metal heater which is designed for compact and high efficient moving fluid heating appliance in the consumer pipeline systems.
