  • This study investigates the effect of nonverbal communication on trust, switching barrier, and repurchase intention. Sample subjects used in this study were customers of a fashion shop in Sunchon. The questionnaires were conveniently sampled from July 2010 to August 2010. Questionnaire data from 335 customers of a national brand were analyzed through a reliability analysis, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, nonverbal communication by the service provider was divided into 3 types, physical appearance and paralanguage, postures and proxemics, and facial expressions. Second, it was found that physical appearance and paralanguage, postures and proxemics, facial expression of nonverbal communication had a significant impact on customer trust. Third, given the relationship between nonverbal communication and switching barrier, it was represented that the postures and proxemics and facial expressions (except physical appearance and paralanguage) had a significantly positive influence on the switching barrier. Forth, physical appearance/paralanguage, postures/proxemics, and facial expressions (nonverbal communication) had a positive influence on repurchase intention. Fifth, given the relationship between trust and repurchase intention as well as switching barrier and repurchase intention, it was represented that trust and switching barrier have a significantly positive influence upon repurchase intention. According to the results of this study, the more positive nonverbal communication by the service provider then the higher the customer repurchase intention as well as trust and switching barrier. Fifth, given the relationship between trust and repurchase intention as well as switching barrier and repurchase intention, it was represented that trust and switching barrier have a significantly positive influence upon repurchase intentions.

  • This research will study the conversion intention of the users in China from fuel vehicle to new energy vehicles through the empirical methods. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted with car users as the object, combined with the theory of user migration and the PPM model to analyze the impact of fuel vehicle users' conversion intention to new-energy vehicles factor. The results showed that purchase experience contains the moderating effect, in which perceived risk and switching costs had a greater impact on the groups without purchase experience, whereas social identity, perceived value, personal attitude, and willingness to switch had a greater impact on groups with the purchase experience. Among all five factors, perceived risk had no discernible impact on the switching intention, but social identity, perceived value, attitude toward switching, and switching costs all had discernible impact on the switching intention. This study expects to come out with sustainable advises for the future growth of new energy vehicles from the study of car users' switching intention and the collective difference test of purchasing experience.

  • Recently, the use of mobile payment, called "Pay" payment, is increasing such as 'KakaoPay' and 'SamsungPay'. In Korea, various mobile payment services are running and emerging. The purpose of this study is to examine the intention to switch from using existing credit cards or check card to mobile payment service based on the two-factor theory. We empirically examined the effect of the two factors, the factors that enable switching and the factors that inhibit switching. Therefore, the study use switching cost and switching benefit as parameters to confirm the effect on the switching intention. In addition, this study intends to analyze the differences between two subgroups by the degree of personal innovativeness. We survey smartphone users and credit card or check card users, and analyzed the Smart PLS 3.0 using structural equation model to verify the significance of the research hypothesis.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of patient perception of the switching cost and negative word of mouth on revisit intention of patients in out-patient departments (OPDs) of general hospitals. Method: The participants were 306 patients in general hospital, selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation coefficient, and logistic regression with SPSS Win. Results: Relational switching cost was positively correlated with revisit intention (r=.58, p=<.001), but not financial switching cost or procedural switching cost. Negative word of mouth was negatively correlated with revisit intention (r=-.22, p=<.001). The significant predictors influencing revisit intention in patients was relational switching cost. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that hospital and nursing managers should seek to bolster perceptions of switching costs and negative word of mouth, which subsequently increases revisit intentions in small hospitals located in the country as well as urban large hospitals.

  • Recently, the researches to explain Switching Behavior through Theory of Planned Behavior have been discovered. Many researches say that System factors of mobile telecommunication service(MTS) is positively associated with Switching Intention. But There is no difference of system factors between mobile telecommunication services because of IT technique Development. Thus, this study investigated whether switching cost and alternative's attractiveness influence switching intention concerning mobile telecommunication service by adopting Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as an underlying theoretical premise. The study also attempted to determine the moderating effects of personal innovativeness on switching intention. For these purposes the author has developed several hypotheses as follows: H-1. The switching cost of different MTS is associated with the attitude of MTS which is using. H-2. The switching cost of different MTS is associated with the subjective norm of MTS which is using. H-3. The switching cost of different MTS is associated with the perceived behavior control of MTS which is using. H-4. The alternative's attractiveness of different MTS is associated with the attitude of MTS which is using. H-5. The alternative's attractiveness of different MTS is associated with the subjective norm of MTS which is using. H-6. The alternative's attractiveness of different MTS is associated with the perceived behavior control of MTS which is using. H-7. The switching cost of different MTS is associated with the switching intention. H-8. The alternative's attractiveness of different MTS is associated with the switching intention. H-9. The attitude of MTS is associated with the switching intention. H-10. The subjective norm of MTS is associated with the switching intention. H-11. The perceived behavior control of MTS is associated with the switching intention. H-12. The personal innovativeness has been a moderating effects to switching intention. Data has been collected from 403 respondents for this study using a questionnaire method. The survey for the actual analysis of the research was done and analyzed with the customers who have an experience of using Mobile telecommunication service and the samples were selected among the middle and high school students who live in Seoul area, the university students who live in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungcheng Provinces, and the ordinary workers who are working in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The survey was done for 23 days from March 28, 2008 through April 12, 2008. The positive analysis was done with SPSS 12.0K statistics package and visual PLS program using the analysis techniques of frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and factor analysis. In addition, structural equation modeling was conducted using AMOS 5.0. The data was analyzed by frequency analysis using SPSS 12.0 and structural equation modeling using AMOS 5.0. The result of the overall model analysis is as follows: Chi-Square=378.306, d.f.=107, p-value=0.0, GFI=.904, AGFI= 0.863, IFI= 0.939, NFI= 0.917, RMSEA= 0.079, TLI= 0.922. The results of the overall model analysis were coherent. The following study results were revealed: First, switching cost was related positively to attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavior control, three components of TPB. Second, alternative's attractiveness was related negatively to subjective norm but positively to perceived behavior control. Third, switching cost and attitude was related negatively to switching intention, while perceived behavior control was related positively to switching intention. Finally, the study found the moderating effects of personal innovativeness on switching intention. • This study identifies meaningful factors that influence relationship switching intention and multi-channel use intention for department store customers. Two types of commitment (affective and calculative commitment) are proposed as mediators between satisfaction and behavioral intention. A web-based survey collected fashion product data from consumers who had a relationship with a department store. A total of 150 responses were analyzed by frequency analysis and reliability analysis, CFA, and SEM analysis with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Department store attributes were composed of four factors (product, salespersons, facilities and place, and price and promotion). Department store satisfaction was specified as a second order latent construct which was reflected in the satisfaction with the four department store attributes. Department store satisfaction had a significant negative influence on calculative commitment and a positive effect on affective commitment. Calculative commitment affected switching intention and affective commitment determined multichannel use intention. This study has implications for retail marketers that target fashion consumers and academics who research consumer behavior in retail settings. The most important result is that the affective commitment and the calculative commitment serve different functions. Department store managers need to make an increased effort to instigate an affective customer commitment in order to reduce switching intention.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate two components of commitment(affective commitment and calculative commitment) and relational equity on loyalty. In addition, The authors analyzed the moderating effect of length of relationship on the effects of commitments and relational equity on switching intention. Major findings can be summarized as follows. It was found that affective commitment made a negative impact on switching intentions and a positive impact on w-o-m. Calculative commitment had no effect on switching intention and w-o-m while it made a negative effect on w-o-m in handset side only. Relational equity appears to bolster a negative effect on switching intention and a positive effect on w-o-m. Also length of relationship seems to moderate the effect of relational equity on switching intention.

  • Portal sites have been providing diverse services to attract new users and retain existing customers. Recently, they also added new services and increased quality of the services they provide to secure more customers. It is, however, not clear how people actually react to such activities. We wanted to understand the mechanism associated with users' continued usage intention of current Portal site. We assumed search, e-mail, information, community, e-commerce services as key services provided by most Portal sites and considered valuable by many customers. The quality of these services may directly affect users' continued usage intention. However, we can also assume that attractive alternatives and switching cost may have some influence on users' continued usage intention. Therefore, in this study, key variables pertaining to the quality of key services provided by Portal sites, attractive alternatives, and switching cost were examined to explain the dynamics of users' continued usage intention. An empirical study based on 891 survey responses showed the importance of the quality of key services for users' continued usage intention. Switching cost also demonstrated strong association with users' continued usage intention. However, attractive alternatives did not show a significant association with users' continued usage intention. We also found that the variable attractive alternatives moderated the relationship between the quality of search service and users' continued usage intention and the relationship between the quality of information service and users' continued usage intention. On the other hand, the variable switching cost showed a moderating effect on the relationship between the quality of e-mail service and users' continued usage intention and the relationship between the quality of community service and users' continued usage intention. This study implies that Portal sites need to make efforts not only to improve the quality of key services but also to consider attractiveness of other Portal sites' services and switching cost to secure more customers.
