  • Series connection of power switching semiconductor elements is unavoidable when a high voltage convertor is aimed. However, it is important to equalize distribution of turn-off voltage because the switching elements have different characteristics. In this paper optimal switching control algorithm is proposed so that series connected poker switching semiconductor elements can be always switched simultaneous turn-on and turn-off.

  • Silicon Carbide (SiC) power device possesses attractive features, such as high breakdown voltage, high-speed switching capability, and high temperature operation. In general, device design has a significant effect on the switching characteristics. In this paper, we report the effect of the P-base doping concentration ($N_{PBASE}$) on the transient characteristics of 4H-SiC DMOSFETs. By reducing $N_{PBASE}$, switching time also decreases, primarily due to the lowered channel resistance. It is found that improvement of switching speed in 4H-SiC DMOSFETs is essential to reduce the and channel resistance. Therefore, accurate modeling of the operating conditions are essential for the optimization of superior switching performance.

Design of Soft Switched Synchronous Boost Converter

  • In this paper, we designed a soft switched synchronous boost converter, which can perform discharging the battery, is simulated, and experimented designed. The converter operates synchronous operation to increase efficiency of the converter. The converter has very small switching losses because of its soft switching characteristics. In this paper, battery discharger with a switching frequency of 100 kHz have been designed. The designed converter also simulated and experimented to prove the converter's characteristics during synchronous operation. The simulated and experimental results have confirmed that the battery discharger had soft switching characteristics. In addition, the experimental results confirm that the converter has high efficiency characteristics. The efficiency of the circuit exceeds 97%, the efficiency of soft switched synchronous boost converter is at least 6% higher than that of conventional PWM boost converter.

  • In this paper, we proposed a soft-switched synchronous buck converter, which can perform charging the battery. The proposed converter has low switching loss even at high frequency operation due to its soft switching characteristics. The converter operates in synchronous mode to minimize conduction loss, resulting in small conduction loss, also. In this reason, the efficiency of the converter can be greatly improved even in high frequency. The size and weight of the converter can be reduced by high frequency operation of the converter. In this paper, we designed a battery charger with a switching frequency of 100 kHz. The designed converter also simulated to prove the converter's characteristics of synchronous operation as well as soft switching operation. The simulation shows that the proposed converter always meets the soft switching conditions of turning on and off switching in the zero voltage and zero current states. Therefore, simulation results have confirmed that the proposed battery charger had soft switching characteristics. The simulation results for transient response to charge current for the designed converter show that the converter responds to charge current commands quickly within 0.05 ms.

  • Switching system can be regarded as the key node of Integrated Services Digital Networks(ISDN) because it plays the Important role in realization of ISDN. As ISDN is evolved from the telephony Integrated Digital Network(IDN), the switching system for ISDN will be evolved from the function and structure of telephony digital switching system. At near future, ISDN switching system is expected to implement the integrated access and transparent switching functions for both voice and data. As final goals of switching system, advanced switching methods for information having various traffic characteristics such as voice, data, text and image should be considered. This paper considered. This paper will show some of the fundamental design challenges and architectural trends in ISDN switching system.

  • Gallium nitride (GaN) power switching devices are promising candidates for high switching frequency and high efficiency power conversion due to their fast switching, low on-state resistance, and high-temperature operation capability. In order to facilitate the use of these new devices better, it is required to investigate the device characteristics and performance in detail preferably by comparing with various conventional silicon (Si) devices. This paper presents a comprehensive study of GaN high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) based non-isolated point-of-load (POL) synchronous buck converter operating at 2.7 MHz with a high step-down ratio (24 V to 3.3 V). The characteristics and performance of GaN HEMT and three different Si devices are analytically investigated and the optimal operating point for GaN HEMT is discussed. Zero-voltage switching (ZVS) is implemented to minimize switching loss in high switching frequency operation. The prototype circuit and experimental data support the validity of analytical and simulation results.

  • This paper has described about principle and form of proposed circuit made use of soft switching technology ZVS(Zero-Voltage-Switching) to reduce turn on and off loss at switching. Also, the analysis of the proposed circuit was described by using normalized parameter and operating characteristics has been evaluated as to switching frequency and parameters. Based on the characteristics value, a method of the circuit design is proposed. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental ones. The proposed circuit is considerated to be useful for induction heating and discharge lamp.

  • Heat dissipation in the domestic switching room has been gradually increased. Therefore, numerical study on the cooling characteristics of the telecommunication system in a switching room for three kinds of the air supply and return flow system was investigated to develop effective flow system. As a result, the cooling performance of the under floor air supply and overhead return flow system was the best.

  • This study analyzed the effects of website and consumer's characteristics on price sensitivity as well as the effects of price sensitivity on repurchasing and switching intention. It ascertains differences in: website and consumer's characteristics, price sensitivity, and repurchasing and switching intention according to type of internet shopping mall. A survey was conducted from July 10 to August 20 in 2013, and 492 responses were used for data analysis. As a result, the reputation, ease of price search, and depth of product information positively influenced the price search and the interactivity of website characteristics positively influenced price importance. Product knowledge and information search of fashion consumers positively influenced price sensitivity. Also, the price sensitivity of internet fashion consumer positively influenced repurchasing intention. The price search positively affected the switching intention, while the price importance negatively affected the switching intention. Last, there were significant differences in the reputation, ease of price search, information search, price sensitivity, repurchasing and switching intention according to type of internet shopping mall.

A Study on SVL Transient Characteristics by Switching Overvoltage at Single Point Bonding Section in Underground Transmission Cables (개폐과전압 발생시 지중송전선로 편단접지 구간에서 SVL에 미치는 과도특성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes sheath voltage limiter(SVL) transient characteristics by switching overvoltage considering single point bonding in underground transmission cables. The crossbonding system is generally used for grounding methods of underground transmission system. However, the single point bonding system is used in selective area which is difficult to consist of crossbonding major section. The sheath voltage limiters are connected between joints in the single point bonding. Specially, the high overvoltage might be generated in that section as well as the aging of sheath voltage limiter might be progressed by various electrical stress including lightning overvoltage, switching overvoltage and power frequency overvoltage. Therefore, in this paper, the switching overvoltage characteristics in underground cables are firstly analysed using EMTP simulation. Then, the switching overvoltage of sheath voltage limiter is also studied in single point bonding. Finally, the reduction method of sheath voltage limiter switching overvoltage is proposed by various simulation studies including circuit breaker operating order.
