  • Salient pole rotor type single phase SRM(switched reluctance motor) uses the magnetic fluxes of radial and axial direction at the same time. Therefore the output power per unit volumn is very high and shaft length can be shorter than any other types of SRM with same output. Also, It can be manufactured with low cost thanks to simple structure and driving circuit. We already designed and manufactured prototype using the dynamic output equation of general rotating machine but the effect by salient pole structure was not considered. The most optimal design parameters for salient pole rotor type single phase SRM will be selected by comparing and analyzing the results from 3D FEM analysis, experimental values of the torque versus speed characteristics. and the nux linkage of prototype. Results for the former 3D FEM analysis and torque vs. speed characteristics were already obtained. Finally, we will measure the nux linkage of salient pole rotor type single phase SRM.

  • Switched reluctance machine has much attention as a traction drive because of high efficiency, high power and DC series torque characteristics. But the motor has to have a regenerative mode when it is adopted in electric vehicle and current divergence during the regeneration makes difficulties in the control. This paper proposes a reference current limitation strategy for a stable regeneration based on simulations and experimented tests. The motor is operated with conventional current limit and switching angle control method in motoring mode. Simulations and experiments are excuted to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • This paper proposes a new converter for switched reluctance motors using a Boost converter in conjunction with a Buck converter. The proposed converter has a unity power factor(hereafter referred to an UPF) in the ac input regardless of the load variations. Moreover, compared to the conventional converter topologies, the total system efficiency is improved by introducing choppingless voltage control methods in the machine side converter and an energy recovery snubber in the pre-voltage regulation stage, respectively.

  • The switched reluctance motor is an electric machine in which torque is produced by the tendency of its movable part to move to a position where the inductance of the excited winding is maxmized. It is as well as PM brushless do systems. It's many advantages-a wide speed range, and inherently simplicity and ruggedness, low manufacturing cost, make it a vigorous challenger to these drives. It is a fascinating machine with all kinds of interesting application possibilities. In this paper, the design and evaluate the performance is treated.

  • The salient pole rotor type single phase SRM (switched reluctance motor) uses radial and axial direction magnetic flux simultaneously. Therefore, the output power per unit volume is very high and the shaft length is shorter than other types of SRMs with the same output. Furthermore, it can be manufactured with low cost owing to its simple structure and driving circuit. The prototype was designed using the theory of the traditional rotating machine and 3D FEM analysis. On this paper, the experiment apparatus, which includes the fabricated prototype in previous researches, was fabricated to measure the current and voltage of the prototype. Then the flux linkage, inductance and magnetic co-energy were calculated using the experimental results. Finally, the measured magnetic co-energy was compared with the simulated magnetic co-energy.

  • 3D Equivalent magnetic Circuit Network Method (EMCNM) is comparatively the easy way that analyzes 3D models of Electric Machine by using permeance as a distributive magnetic circuit parameter under the existing magnetic equivalent circuit method and Numerical Method. The existing 3D EMCNM could not correctly describe the shape of an analysis target when using rectangular shape element or fan shape element, so it made errors when calculating permeance. Therefore, this paper proposes the trapezoidal element contained rectangular element, fan-shape element, and quadrilateral element to express a shape. The proposed method in this research was confirmed as a useful and an accurate method through comparing with the analysis result of SRM model that is sufficiently guaranteed by 2D-Analysis.
