편심 밸브를 갖는 내연기관의 연소실 내부 유동장에 대한 수치적 연구 (A Numerical Study of the Flow Field in the Combustion Chamber of the I.C Engine with Offset Valve)

  • 본 연구에서는 공기와 연료의 혼합을 원활하게 함으로써 완전연소가 가능하도 록 하기 위하여 이용되는 스월 및 스쿼시 유동이 연소실 내부유동장 변화에 미치는 영 향을 조사하기 위하여 흡입행정 및 연료분무 직전까지의 압축행정에 대해 연소실 내부 유동장을 수치해석하고자 한다.수치해석에는 EPISO-SPRAY 코드를 수정, 보완하여 이용했는데 이 코드는 미국 Los Alamos 연구소를 중심으로 개발된 CONCHAS 계열이나 KIVA 계열의 코드와는 달리 밸브의 개폐운동을 처리할수 있도록 구성되어 있다. 난류모델은 피스톤의 압축 및 팽창에 따른 밀도변화를 고려하여 수정한 k-.epsilon. 모델을 이용한다. 계산은 편심밸브를 갖는 두가지 연소실 형상, 즉 피스톤 보울이 없는 경 우와 피스톤 보울이 있는 경우의 연소실에 대해 선회비를 변화시키며 ATDC 0도부터 ATDC 340도까지의 연료분무가 없는 경우의 3차원 유동장 해석을 통해 흡입 공기가 갖 는 스월과 압축행정 말기에 보울 형상에 따라 발생하는 스쿼시 유동이 유동장 변화에 미치는 영향을 조사하고 기존의 실험치 및 수치해석 결과들과 정성적으로 비교하고자 한다.

  • 고체로켓모터 추진제 그레인의 핀-슬롯 표면에서의 연소로 인해 생성된 고온, 고압의 연소가스는 그레인 핀-슬롯 및 내삽노즐을 통해 외부로 방출되면서 형성되는 유동은 매우 복잡하고 다양한 형태를 가진다. 핀-슬롯형 그레인 및 내삽노즐을 가지는 고체로켓모터의 2D, 3D 스케일모델에 대한 공기유동 모사시험을 수행하였으며, 롤토크 발생 등과 같은 내부유동발생 메커니즘을 규명할 수 있는 효과적인 연기-유동장 가시화 기법의 적용방법에 대한 검토가 이루어 졌다. 다양한 광원조사기법 및 촬영장치 방향을 이용하여, 축류 실험모델 노즐 선단부에서의 비대칭 와류튜브에 의한 선회류를 가시화하였다.

실린더 내부 유동장에 대한 흡입 밸브의 편심 효과에 관한 수치적 연구 (A numerical study of the eccentricity effect of the intake valve on the in-cylinder flow field)

  • Three dimensional numerical calculation carried out to investigate the eccentricity effect of intake valve on the in-cylinder flow fields for the intake stroke and the compression stroke. During the intake stroke, a corner vortex in the vicinity of the valve exit interacted strongly with a toroidal vortex in the case of axisymmetric valve. But a weak interaction between the corner vortex and the toroidal vortex occurred due to the eccentricity of the valve in the narrow region between valve and cylinder wall in the case of offset valve. During the compression stroke, it was found that a solid body rotation was maintained in the radial-circumferential plane in the case of axisymmetric valve. But a weak secondary vortex was formed in the radial-circumferntial plane in the case of offset valve, because of the interaction between swirl flows and inward flows towards cylinder axis. The calculated turbulence intensity presented a similar trend with the experiental results but, in spite of using the modified k-.epsilon. model, it was found that the qualitative difference between the numerical results and experimental results was large in the region where the velocity gradient is substantial.

원심압축기 벌류트 내부의 스월 유동에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Calculation of the Swirling Flow in a Centrifugal Compressor Volute)

  • Flows in the centrifugal compressor volute with circular cross section are numerically investigated. The computational grid for the calculation utilized a multi-block arrangement to form a butterfly grid and flow calculations are performed using commercial CFD software, CFX-TASCflow. The centrifugal compressor of this study has axial diffuser after radial diffuser because of the shape of inlet duct and installation constraints. Due to this feature the swirling flow pattern is different from the other investigations. The flow inside volute is very complex and three dimensional with strong vortex and recirculation through volute tongue. The calculation results show circumferential variations of the swirl and through flow velocity and pressure distribution. The mechanism deciding flow structure is explained by considering the force balance in volute cross section. And static pressure recovery and total pressure loss are estimated from the calculated results and compared with Japikse model.

  • Two-dimensional, angle-resolved LDV(Laser Doppler Velocimetry) measurements of the turbulent rotating flow field in a confined cylinder have been performed. The configurations of interest are flows between a rotating upper disk with a rod attached by a disk or impeller(${\theta}= 90^{\circ},\;45^{\circ}$) and a stationary lower disk in a confined cylinder. The mean flow velocity as well as the turbulent intensity of the flow field have been measured. The results show that the flow is strongly dependent on the position of the impellers or the disk, negligibly affected by the Reynolds number in turbulent flow. It is observed that the mixing effect of the axial flow impeller(${\theta}= 45^{\circ}$) is better than that of the radial flow impeller(${\theta}= 90^{\circ}$) or a disk.

  • In order to realistically represent the complex turbulence-chemistry interaction at the partially premixed turbulent lifted flames encountered in the gas turbine combustors, the combined conserved-scalar/level-set flamelet approach has been adopted. The parallel unstructured-grid finite-volume method has been developed to maintain the geometric flexibility and computational efficiency for the solution of the physically and geometrically complex flows. Special emphasis is given to the swirl effects on the combustion characteristics of the lean-premixed gas turbine combustor. Numerical results suggest that the present approach is capable of realistically simulating the combustion characteristics for the lean-premixed gas turbine engines and the lifted turbulent jet flame with a vitiated coflow.

  • A model engine having a flat cylinder head and a piston face and an off-center intake valve is investigated in this analysis. Calculation domain is confined to the half of the cylinder with swirl free inlet velocity condition. Due to the absence of measured inlet conditions, the inlet flowrates during induction period are calculated from overall mass and energy conservation requirements. Finite difference equation for velocity and pressure were solved by modified SIMPLER algorithm, standard k-$\varepsilon$turbulence model and hybrid scheme. From the result of prediction, dimensionless velocity distribution and turbulence intensities are investigated at each crank angle.

  • 스월 연소기의 비반응 난류 유동특성을 파악하기 위하여 3차원 Large Eddy Simulation(LES)을 수행하였다. 연소기는 GEAE LM6000 연소기를 이용하였으며, 실제 실험 결과에 따른 인젝터 유입 형상을 적용하였다. 주 흐름 부분에서 강한 vortex breakdown, 중심 재순환영역, 모서리 재순환영역, 축방향으로 전진하는 스월링 형상, 주기적으로 나타나는 난류 구조를 관찰하였다. 계산된 결과는 실제 실험결과와 선행연구자들의 LES 계산결과와 비교하여 잘 맞음을 확인하였다.

  • It is well known that organized vortex rotations swirl and tumble greatly affect the mixing, the combustion and heat transfer processes in engine cylinder. We have developed 3 dimensional numerical simulation codes whose predictions make good agreement with the experimental data. Large eddy simulation based on Smagorinsky subgrid scale model was adopted to describe the turbulence of in-cylinder flows. The tumble motions generated by different inclination angles between valve-port and cylinder head have been calculated. The results show that the angles between direction of induced flow and cylinder walls which the flow collides with play a great role in the formation and generation of tumble motions. Therefore, it is inferred that seat angle and inclination angle are important factors of engine design. In addition, the numerical results of different engine speed -1000 rpm and 3000 rpm are very similar in the flow structure.

유입 선회류에 대한 디퓨져 손실 및 난류특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Pressure Loss and Turbulent Charactristics in a Conical Diffuser with a Swirl Flow)

  • In this paper, the relationship between static pressure recovery and turbulent energy was presented in case of swirling flows into a conical diffuser. The distributions of turbulent energy in a diffuser sectional area were measured by a hot wire anemometer. The following conclusion can be drawn from the experiment. Diffuser loss is constituted by a dynamic pressure loss and total pressure loss. The static pressure recovery depends strongly on the total pressure loss. The static pressure recovery depends strongly on the total pressure loss, and the turbulent energy varies inversely as the static pressure recovery coefficient.
