The general objective of this study was to investigate biomechanical characteristics of bowling swing using three-dimensional cinematography. This study focused specifically on movements of the upper body segments during a bowling swing. Eight elite female bowling players participated in this study. Subjects performed bowling swing and their performance was sampled at 60 frame/sec using two high-speed video cameras with a synchronizer. After digitizing images from two cameras, the two-dimensional coordinates were used to produce three-dimensional coordinates of the 12 body segments (20 joint reference makers). The obtained three-dimensional coordinates were fed to a custom-written kinematic and kinetic analyses program (LabView 6.1, National Instrument, Austin, TX, USA). The analyses determined the linear and angular kinematic variables of the body segments with which joint force and torque of the lower and upper trunks and the shoulder were estimated based on the Newton-Euler equations. It was found that during the bowling swing the peak linear velocities of the body segments were reached in sequence the trunk, the shoulder, the elbow, the wrist, and the bowl. This result indicates that linear momentum of the lower body and the trunk transmits to the arm segment during the bowling swing. The joint torques of the torso and the arm occurred almost simultaneously, indicating that bowling swing seem to be a push-like motion, rather than a proximal-distal sequence motion in which many of throwing motions are categorized. The ultimate objective of the bowling swing is to release a heavy-weight bowl with power and consistency. Therefore, the bowling swing observed in this study well agrees with that bowlers use the stepping to increase the linear velocity of the bowl, the simple pendulum system and the push-like segmental motion in the torso and the arm segment to enhance the power at the release of the bowl.

In this paper, we propose a method to measure the similarity between golf swings in videos. As it is known that deep learning-based artificial intelligence technology is effective in the field of computer vision, attempts to utilize artificial intelligence in video-based sports data analysis are increasing. In this study, the joint coordinates of a person in a golf swing video were obtained using a deep learning-based pose estimation model, and based on this, the similarity of each swing segment was measured. For the evaluation of the proposed method, driver swing videos from the GolfDB dataset were used. As a result of measuring swing similarity by pairing swing videos of a total of 36 players, 26 players evaluated that their other swing sequence was the most similar, and the average ranking of similarity was confirmed to be about 5th. This ensured that the similarity could be measured in detail even when the motion was performed similarly.
This study was attempted to kinematical characteristics of the El-grip swing with 1turn to el-grip in elite horizontal bar for the purpose of improving performance. The subjects were three males who were 2002 Busan Asian Games in men's team. The three dimensional motion analysis with DLT method was executed using three video cameras of analyzing the actual competition situation. In point of analyzing the actual competition situation, it is expected that gymnastics and coaches have the effective informations, and the following conclusion had resulted. 1. In case of release, It is impotant to make fast horizontal velocity of CM, high vertical position of CM, large hip and shoulder angle. Also It should be performed release motion of trunk rotation angle(+). 2. During LHR the action should be made at higher position than the CM and the shoulder joint is moving within $127{\pm}16.82$. It is important to make large lunk rotation angle. 3. During Hop, the RHR motion should be done in high position with short time and fast twisting action and to reduce the vertical speed is important.

The purposes of this study were to investigate kinematic parameters of racket head and upper extremities during squash back hand stroke and to provide quantitative data to the players. Five Korean elite male players were used as subjects in this study. To find out the swing motion of the players, the land-markers were attached to the segments of upper limb and 3-D motion analysis was performed. Orientation angles were also computed for angular movement of each segment. The results were as follows. 1) the average time of the back hand swing (downswing + follow-through) was 0.39s (0.24 s + 0.15 s). 2) for each event, the average racket velocity at impact was 11.17m/s and the velocity at the end of swing was 8.03m/s, which was the fastest swing speed after impact. Also, for each phase, 5.10m/s was found in down swing but 7.68m/s was found in follow-through. Racket swing speed was fastest after the impact but the swing speed was reduced in the follow-through phase. 3) in records of average of joints angle, shoulder angle was defined as the relative angle to the body. 1.04rad was found at end of back swing, 1.75rad at impact and it changes to 2.35 rad at the end of swing. Elbow angle was defined as the relative angle of forearm to upper arm. 1.73rad was found at top of backswing, 2.79rad at impact, and the angle was changed to 2.55rad at end of swing. Wrist angle was defined as the relative angle of hand to forearm. 2.48rad was found at top of backswing, 2.86rad at impact, and the angle changes to 1.96rad at end of swing. As a result, if the ball is to fly in the fastest speed, the body has to move in the order of trunk, shoulder, elbow and wrist (from proximal segment to distal segment). Thus, the flexibility of the wrist can be very important factor to increase ball speed as the last action of strong impact. In conclusion, the movement in order of the shoulder, elbow and the wrist decided the racket head speed and the standard deviations were increased as the motion was transferred from proximal to the distal segment due to the personal difference of swing arc. In particular, the use of wrist (snap) may change the output dramatically. Therefore, it was concluded that the flexible wrist movement in squash was very important factor to determine the direction and spin of the ball.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of modified golf swing training on gait characteristic in hemiplegic patient through Kwon 3D motion analysis system. Methods: This study has performed single subject design from September to October 2008. The subject had left hemiplegia due to CVA in December 2003. He has treated Bobath approach twice a week. In order to increase ankle dorsiflexion and knee flexion, the subject has applied modified golf swing training on the basis of Bobath approach. The measurement of gait characteristic was taken by Kwon 3D motion analysis system. Results: The results were as follows : 1) Walking velocity was increased 0.62m/sec than before the training. 2) Step length was increased 0.09m than before the training. 3) Left ankle and hip angle were increased, but left knee angle was decreased. Conclusion: It could be concluded that the activity modified golf swing training in walking pattern contributed to improve the movement quality and speed of gait.
The purpose of this study was to examine the major kinematicak variance to Increase the club head velocity during the driver swing two PGA prp-golfers utilizing 3-dimensional Image analyzing linear velocity of the club-head during the impact quantiatively. To achive these purpose, two high speed camera in 120 field/s and one high-speed camera in 500 field/s were used in this study. Kinematic and kinetic analysis has been performed for Soft Golf swings utilizing realistic three dimensional computer simulations based on three dimensional motion tracking data. Soft Golf is a newly developed recreational sport in South Korea aimed to become a safe and easy-to-learn sport for all ages. The advantage of Soft Golf stems from lighter weight of the club and much larger area of the sweet spot. This paper tries to look into kinematic and kinetic aspects of soft golf swings compared to regular golf swing and find the advantages of lighter Soft Golf clubs. For this purpose, swing motions of older aged participants were captured and kinematic analysis was performed for various kinematic parameters such as club head velocity, joint angular velocity, and joint range of motions as a pilot study. Kinetic analysis was performed by applying kinematic data to computer simulation models constructed from anthropometric database and the measurements from the participants. The simulations were solved using multi-body dynamics solver. Firstly, the kinematic parameters such as joint angles were obtained by solving inverse dynamics problem based on motion tracking data. Secondly, the kinetic parameters such as joint torques were obtained by solving control dynamics problem of making joint torque to follow pre-defined joint angle data. The results showed that mechanical loadings to major joints were reduced with lighter Soft Golf club.
We propose some applications of image processing techniques to extract quantitative measurements by using a camera system developed in Korea university and Catholic Medical School. From now on the system will be called as KCMOTION. The purpose of this study is to provide basic kinematic and kinetic data for the analysis of human movements and to find the clinical usefulness and reliability of the proposed motion analysis system. Two tests, sit-to-stand (STS) movements and pendulum test, are conducted by the system. The aims of the tests are to identify variability and reliability of KCMOTION to give some quantitative comparisons to the other systems. The result of STS movement are compared to the LOCUS IIID motion analyzer by the ratio of maximum flexion movement per body weight to the actual maximum flexion extension torque per body weight. That result in 29 % and 33 % for hip and knee joint, respectively in KCMOTION and 27 % and 30 % in LOCUS IIID System. The results of the pendulum movements are compared to that of using Cybex and Electrogoniometer with relaxation index, amplitude ratio, swing number and swing time. The results of relaxation index and amplitude ratio of the KCMOTION are between those of the Cybex and Electrogoniometer. We also observed that the KCMOTION detect more natural movement, from the results of swing number and time.
This study was to analysis three dimension angle of the upper extremity segment and trunk to putting the protector in women bowlers. For this study, the subjects selected 4 players of national and university team. All subjects putted in the same wrist support to satisfy the experiment conditions. To get three dimensions position coordination of swing motion used for 6 ProReflex MCU 240 camera produced by Qualisys. After position coordination calculation, Three dimension angle of the trunk and the upper extremity segment calculated for Matlab 6.5. the result is following; In the trunk motion, there were little differences among the subjects in a flexion and extension change. There were a lot of differences in motion change of the abduction-adduction and internal-external rotation, but the motion types translated to the adduction-abduction-adduction and from the internal rotation toward the external rotation. In the upper arm segment the Flexion and extension showed a consistent motion in the down swing and up swing phase. And the motion change of abduction-adduction and pronation-supination showed a abduction-adduction-abduction and pronation-supination change during swing phase. In the forearm segment changes, it showed a lot of differences among the subjects and a similar change with the upper arm segment. Especially, the hand segment showed a supination motion from the backswing apex to release phase, but for increasing a rotation velocity of ball, the hand segment translated toward pronation in follow throw phase.
