  • Vibration and noise problem in a hydraulic system became one of very important factors in evaluating the performance of a hydraulic system. It is known that vibration and noise in a hydraulic system is directly related to flow pulsation in the hydraulic pump in the system. This study investigated a modeling and simulation technique for pulsating flow in a swash plate type axial piston pump. The key design factors of the pump related to flow pulsation phenomenon of the pump are the physical parameters for notches on the valve plate of the pump. By the numerical analysis, effects of the physical parameters of the notch on the flow pulsation was elucidated.

  • A dynamic characteristics of shock absorber in the various excitation is investigated experimentally. Work diagrams and characteristic curves are used as a experimental standard. The various excitation conditions temperature and noise are very important factors in associated with the reduction of damping force. It is found that the heat occurrence from shock absorber, the gas shock absorber is much higher than oil shock absorber and increased in high speed. As to the variation of damping force, there are no change when the speed is low but we fixed amount of variation by increasing speed and change of new and old decrease. The sound pressure of the swash noise from cycle of shock absorber, we compared with theory sound pressure by experiment.

  • Noise reduction for hydraulic pump is strongly demanded in the market with its efficiency and durability. In order to meet this demand, it is necessary to reveal mechanism for noise and relationship between the important factors. In this paper, mathematical model for cylinder pressure which is primary reason of pulsation and sound noise were established, and examined its pressure profile by simulation. Also, the valve plate of three kind types are manufactured and tested for piston pressure, pressure pulsation, and sound power level based on the tentative standard which is officially recognized.

  • Previous researches and experiments have already verified that the primary noise source of high pressure tandem axial thpe piston pump is fluid-borne noise from the process of oil distribution between the kidney-shaped port and valve plate. So, many researchers have improved pressure gradients and reduced sound levels by applying pre-compression and pre-decompression metering grooves to valve plate. In practice however, the sound level of th high pressure tandem axial type piston pump is still undesirable. This paper testified the effect of pumping phase of the piston on vibration and noise of th high pressure tandem axial type piston pump on the best of theoretical research in $this^(1)$. Therefore considering the pumping phase of the piston when assembling the tandem axial type piston pump, it is possible to reduce 1.5~2[dB]of sound level.

  • To meet the needs of the hydraulic excavator of large capacity, tandem axial type piston pump which is high pressure and high speed have been developed. But inevitably we can not help facing the problem of noise at that time. In order to reduce the noise of this pump, many researchers have been studying the problem of oil distribution manner. But they are not interested in the symmetric structure of tandem type pump. So, focusing on the symmetric structure of tandem type pump, this paper analyzed unbalanced force developed in the pump chamber and verified the effect of the pumping phase of the piston on vibration and noise of the tandem axial type piston pump theoretically.

  • Although swash-plate type axial piston pumps have the merits of wide operating conditions and high efficiency, the characteristics of pressure pulsation and flow ripple which result in system noise generation are on-going problems. This research examined the analytic models of the dynamic oil pressure and flow characteristics in the pump. A new mathematical model which considered the pressure behaviors of each cylinder and discharge piping was developed to analyze the pump pressure and flow. This model also considered the leakages in the clearances which many researchers have ignored so far. Using the developed model, numerical calculations were implemented. The results showed that widely used simple model which considered only a single cylinder can not predict actual discrete flow dynamics and that fluid inertia effect has to be considered in the mathematical model. Several critical parameters were discussed such as port volume and discharge resistance on the assumption that the pipe length is not so long. The effect of leakages was studied on the final stage.

  • The fuel economy is a key issue for the automotive industry due to environmental concerns. In particular, only 5-20% of the energy generated in a car using an internal combustion engine is used as power, and the remaining energy is dissipated due to friction with other parts. The main components in the reciprocating piston type compressors commonly used in general vehicles include shafts, swash plates, pistons, and cylinders, and severe friction loss occurs due to the contact of these components. Generally, the wear contact is the maximum between the shaft and cylinder and between the piston and swash plate. The friction of these parts may cause quality problems and deteriorate the durability. In this study, to reduce the frictional loss, a prototype with additional coating agents was produced. Moreover, an optimized design was generated, and performance, noise, and durability tests were conducted. A more durable product was successfully obtained.

  • The effect of the changes in parameter angles(precone, droop, sweep) on the lead-lag damping was focused on. Experiment was made with hingeless 4-blade rotors and NACA 0012 airfoil. For the measurement of the rotating natural frequencies and lead-lag damping, non-rotating swash plate was oscillated at the regressing lag mode frequency and the data were acquired after the excitation was cut off. Analysis was made using a finite element formulation based on Hamilton's principle. The main blade is assumed as elastic beams. Quasi-steady strip theory is used to obtain aerodynamic forces, and non-circulatory forces are also included.

  • Recently, the technologies related to the swash plate type oil hydraulic piston pump are requiring extreme technologies to overcome the limit of high efficiency in cope with high speed and pressure, and are devoted to compact the unit, to gain low noise level, and to adopt electronic technologies, and the question regarding to maximize the mechanical efficiency, that is, to minimize the torque loss by minimizing the leakage loss in the relative sliding region but these are in trade-off relation that tribological responding is very difficult. Cylinder block-valve pate in high speed relative sliding motion has the characteristics that should be extremely controlled for the optimization of these leakage loss and mechanical efficiency, and pressure resistance designing of them is important for high pressure performance. But, studies on the stress analysis of these parts have not been performed briskly, so in this paper the stress distribution and the region where the highest displacement appears are described through the static stress analysis using CATIA V5. Through the future studies on these theme, it has the purpose of finding the suitable materials for the other parts as well as cylinder block and valve plate, in cope with high pressure operation through the stress analysis with the most similar conditions for the practical operation.
