In this paper, we present the effect on a novel transmission line filter response by the etch hole position on the suspended ground and the residue on the resonator under ground plane. We defined the etch hole offset as the distance from the sidewall of the suspended ground to the nearest side of the etch holes. We simulated new filter responses to reflect the real value of the changed etch hole offset caused by characteristics of negative photoresist. Return loss is distorted by the residue on the center conductor remained after sacrificial layer removing. By comparison of simulation and measurements, we concluded the residue on the resonator distorted the RF response worse than etch hole offset variation did.

In order to investigate the distribution of suspended particulate matter of the surface water in the South Sea of Korea in early winter, the cruise results during 2 to 8 December 2004 were analyzed in relation to the hydrography. The front was formed along the line connecting between Tsushima and Cheju Islands, which divided the water into two water masses; the coastal water with for temperature and for salinity, and the Tsushima Warm Current Water with high temperature and high salinity. In the coastal water the suspended particulte matter was 5.0-6.5 mg/l, while in the oceanic water suspended particulate matter was 4.5-5.0 mg/l. The coastal water showed higher mixing effects, compared to the oceanic area where vertical stratification was clearly formed. These indicate that the distribution of suspended particulate matter was affected by the stratification or mixing of the water column. Also it is suggested that the mixing effects of sea surface cooling and rind play an important role on the distribution of suspended particulate matter in the South Sea of Korea in winter time.

Objective: To separate/enrich tumor stem-like cells from the human esophageal carcinoma cell line OE-19 by using serum-free suspension culture and to identify their biological characteristics and radiation resistance. Methods: OE-19 cells were cultivated using adherent and suspension culture methods. The tumor stem-like phenotype of CD44 expression was detected using flow cytometry. We examined growth characteristics, cloning capacity in soft agar, and radiation resistance of 2 groups of cells. Results: Suspended cells in serum-free medium formed spheres that were enriched for CD44 expression. CD44 was expressed in 62.5% of suspended cells, but only in 11.7% of adherent cells. The suspended cells had greater capacity for proliferation and colony formation in soft agar than the adherent cells. When the suspended and adherent cells were irradiated at 5 Gy, 10 Gy, or 15 Gy, the proportion of CD44+ suspended cells strongly and weakly positive for CD44 was 77.8%, 66.5%, 57.5%; and 21.7%, 31.6%, 41.4%, respectively. In contrast, the proportion of CD44+ adherent cells strongly positive for CD44 was 18.9%, 14.%, and 9.95%, respectively. When the irradiation dose was increased to 30 Gy, the survival of the suspended and adherent cells was significantly reduced, and viable CD44+ cells were not detected. Conclusion: Suspended cell spheres generated from OE-19 esophageal carcinoma cells in serum-free stem medium are enriched in tumor stem-like cells. CD44 may be a marker for these cells.

Mevinolic acid (MA), a secondary metabolite produced by a filamentous fungus Aspergillus terreus, is acidic form of lovastatin which has been identified as a powerful cholesterol-lowering agent in humans. When immobilized cell culture was performed, MA production was about 5.3-fold higher than the parallel suspended cell culture. Although the immobilized cells proliferated slowly during exponential in comparison with the suspended cells, oxygen uptake rate and oxygen mass transfer coefficient of the immobilized cell culture were about 1.3- and 2.5- fold higher respectively than those of the parallel suspended cell culture. From these results, it was concluded that MA biosynthesis was closely dependent on the cell growth rate, morphology and oxygen availability.

This paper proposes a new design method for narrow bandpass filters using two cascaded hairpin step impedance resonators (SIRs) with wideband harmonic suppression. The proposed bandpass filter utilizes a suspended strip line (SSL) to maximize the characteristic impedance ratio, thereby maximizing the harmonic suppression bandwidth. As an example of the proposed design method, the SSL bandpass filter with a center frequency of $f_0=1.4GHz$ and fractional bandwidth of 5 % was implemented, and proved to suppress harmonics up to $7.5f_0$ with a passband insertion loss of approximately -0.9 dB. This result implies that the proposed SSL narrow bandpass filter (NBPF) can suppress the harmonic bandwidth more than two times as compared with the filter design on a microstrip line (MSL).

그림 1에서 볼 수 있는 것처럼 신호선을 지지하고 있는 membrane은 SMM line의 전체 크기에 비해 아주 작다. 따라서 uniform grid를 ㅣ용해서 이러한 구조를 해석하게 되면 해석점이 너무 많아져서 많은 메모리를 필요로 하게 되어 일반적인 컴퓨터로는 해석이 어려워지며, non-uniform grid를 사용한다 해도 해석점의 수는 줄일 수 있느나 가장 작은 grid의 크기가 membrane의 크기에 의해서 정해지므로 FDTD 해석에 사용되는 time-step이 아주 작아져서 해석하는데 시간이 오래 걸린게 된다.

This paper presents a hybrid image mode Galerkin method for the analysis of the transmission line structures suspended between infinite parallel ground planes. A Green's function that consists of numerically accelerated image mode terms is developed, which is used in boundary integral equation. Transmission lines of arbitrary cross section are analyzed using Galerkin's method. Two kinds of configurations of transmission lines are studied in sample problems.

Experimental data for the on-line estimation of cell concentration and growth rate are presented. For this purpose, we utilized the on-line calculation of the oxygen uptake rate (OUR), which was derived from a liquid phase dynamic mass balance for the oxygen during the active growth phase in cyclosporin A (CyA) fermentation. The cell yield coefficient, based on the oxygen $(Y_{x/o})$for both suspended and immobilized cells of Tolypocladium inflatum, was estimated as $1.9 gDCW/gO_2$ from a very good linear correlation between the cell mass produced and the total oxygen consumed. The calculated yield showed a good agreement with the value of $(Y_{x/o})$ generated from the correlation between the cell growth rate and the oxygen uptake rate. In addition, further experimental data are given, which were also applied to determine the specific oxygen uptake rate of T. inflatum cells during the exponential phase of CyA fermentation. A theoretical basis for the analysis of these fermentation parameters is also provided.

This experimental study was carried out to obtain the base data for saving the man power in the fishing operation of largehead hairtail hand line by using the continuous type hand line system with a rotary device which could make a main line move automatically. In order to solve the twists and entangling on the main line happened during operating test, the resistance board was suspended at the end of the main line at sea. As the result, there were no problems of tangling and so on due to up and down moving of a main line. According to the control of a fixed angle of guide roller, it was possible to prevent the main line to be separated from a side roller and a guide roller. In addition, PVC tube between a guide roller and a side roller enabled a main line to be moved smoothly without any entanglement.
