  • This study was undertaken for the purpose of investigating the properties of Yackwa added by different levels of ginger juice with 3 different kinds of ginger (small, medium, and large) produced in Susan and Bongdong. There were differences in content of moisture and ash. Susan large ginger showed me highest level of moisture. By the sensory evaluation, Yackwa added by 5 g (2% of wheat flour, w/w) of Susan (small) and Bongdong ginger juice showed higher preference man those of other levels. However, Yackwa made with Susan large ginger juice showed preferable when 10 g (4% of wheat flour, w/w) was added. Textural characteristics by rheometer measurement and color were influenced by adding different levels of ginger juice. Sensory evaluation for the color of Yackwa made with Susan and Bongdong ginger juice showed a high positive correlation with L, a, and b values in instrumental test.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient method not only f3r producing accurate region segmentation, solving the over-segmentation problem of watershed algorithm but also f3r reducing post-processing time by reducing computation loads. Through this proposed method, region segmentation of neighboring objects and discrimination of similar intensities were effectively obtained. Input image of watershed algorithm has used the derivative-based detectors such as Sobel and Canny. But proposed method uses the pixels-similarity-based detector, that is, SUSAN. By adopting this proposed method, we can reduce the noise problem and solve the problem of over-segmentation and not lose the edge information of objects. We also propose Zero-Crossing SUSAN. With Zero-Crossing SUSAN, the edge localization, times and computation loads can be improved over those obtained from existing SUSAN

  • Traffic noise is a kind of noise caused by cars, trains and aircraft. Among them, noise produced by cars is the most important factor in cities. According to the National Institute of Environmental Research(NIER)'s survey, Road traffic noise levels in Susan are the highest of all the cities in Korea. So, appropriate measures for road traffic noise reduction is required. For this purpose, the construction of a noise map in Susan will playa vital role. However, road traffic noise formulas are constructed considering regional characteristics such as each country road's environment and vehicle quality. Therefore, prior to constructing a noise map in Susan, examination processes about each formula constituent status and estimation process are required preferentially. In this research, the basic first stage is to estimate Susan's road traffic noise. First, investigate characteristics of each road traffic noise estimate and using this, a noise map is constructed for road traffic noise in Susan. Then the adaptation of a road traffic noise formula is evaluated.

  • Automatic image registration is an essential element of remote sensing because remote sensing system generates enormous amount of data, which are multiple observations of the same features at different times and by different sensor. The general process of automatic image registration includes three steps: 1) The extraction of features to be used in the matching process, 2) the feature matching strategy and accurate matching process, 3) the resampling of the data based on the correspondence computed from matched feature. For step 2) and 3), we have developed an algorithms for automated registration of satellite images with RANSAC(Random Sample Consensus) in success. However, for step 1), There still remains human operation to generate GCP Chips, which is time consuming, laborious and expensive process. The main idea of this research is that we are able to automatically generate GCP chips with comer detection algorithms without GPS survey and human interventions if we have systematic corrected satellite image within adaptable positional accuracy. In this research, we use SUSAN(Smallest Univalue Segment Assimilating Nucleus) algorithm in order to detect the comer. SUSAN algorithm is known as the best robust algorithms for comer detection in the field of compute vision. However, there are so many comers in high-resolution images so that we need to reduce the comer points from SUSAN algorithms to overcome redundancy. In experiment, we automatically generate GCP chips from IKONOS images with geo level using SUSAN algorithms. Then we extract reference coordinate from IKONOS images and DEM data and filter the comer points using texture analysis. At last, we apply automatically collected GCP chips by proposed method and the GCP by operator to in-house automatic precision correction algorithms. The compared result will be presented to show the GCP quality.

  • For an effective management of fisheries resources, we need fisheries informations necessary for the establishment of reasonable fishing effort and TAC distribution. To study the present state of by-catch and discard of gill-net fishery in the East Sea, we carried out fishing research using trammel nets in the coastal sea of Susan-port (Yangyang), Jangho-port (Samcheok) and Hupo-port (Uljin). As a result, a total of catch of Susan was 259,172g and that of Hopo was 577,638g. Thus Catch of Susan was 1.49 times more than that of Hupo considering the number of used fishing gear. And catch of Janho was 7.4 times more than that of Susan considering the number of experiment. Two methods of by-catch analysis in this study were used, one method is standardizing of listed species catching possible in fishing license, another method is regarding catch species under 1% of total catch as by-catch. As a result of by-catch analysis of two method, by-catch rate of Susan was 6.55% and 5.87% respectively, that of Hupo was 44.70% and 5.24% and that of Jangho was 0.96% and 2.31%. Discard rate of fish in Susan, Hupo and Jangho were 1.59%, 3.42%, 2.23% respectively.

  • The effects of texturing and anti-reflection coating on the reflection properties of multi-crystalline silicon solar cell have been investigated. The chemical solutions of alkaline and acidic etching solutions were used for texturing at the surface of multi-crystalline Si wafer. Experiments were performed with various temperature and time conditions in order to determine the optimized etching condition. Alkaline etching solution was found inadequate to the texturing of multi-crystalline Si due to its high reflectance of about 25%. The reflectance of Si wafer texturing with acidic etching solution showed a very low reflectance about 10%, which was attributed to the formation of homogeneous. Also, deposition of ITO anti-reflection coating reduced the reflectance of multi-crystalline si etched with acidic solution($HF+HNO_3$) to 2.6%.

  • Although Korean people like Kimchi very much, Kimchi is generally limited in sodium restricted diet of hospital food service operation. The use of Kimchi in sodium restricted diet can improve appetite and nutritional status of patients. In this study, four kinds of Kimchi(Kwail-Nabakji, susan-Nabakji, suk-Gakduki, Oi-Gakduki) were Prepared and analyzed for their Sodium contents. the preference of Kwail-Nabakji and susan-Nabakji was compared with low sodium Juciy kimchi provided in the hospital in 25 patients who were restricted in sodium intake. The result were as follows: 1. In 2 kinds of low sodium juicy Kimchi that salt not added sodium contents of kwail-Nabakji(fruti-juicy Kimchi) and susan-nabakji(ginseng-Kimchi) were 17.8 mg/100g a 11.0 mg/100g, respectively. 2. The otehr 2 kimchies were prepared by adding dilute salted shrimp broth. suk-Gakd uki(boild radish-Kimchi) and Oi-Gakduki(cumcuber-Kimchi) had 89.8 mg/100g and 111.6 mg/100g sodium, respectively. 3. Na/k ratios of 4 kinds of low sodium kimchi were in the range of 0.34-0.62 which were lower than that of general Kimchies. 4. The patients preferred kwil-nabakji and susan-nabakji to low sodium juicy Kimchi provided in the hospital, and most liked Kwai-Nabakju. Therefore low sodium Kimchies can be recommended in sodium restricted diet because they have lower sodium contents then general Kimchies.

  • This paper is regarding a new input interface based on displacement of mobile devices having a camera. The mobile device can capture consecutive images by the camera, the displacement of the device is estimated by computing the displacement between consecutive images in real-time. The proposed system extracts feature points based on SUSAN comer detector which has low computational complexity. We generate Voronoi domain by using the two-pass algorithm to match extracted features. Finally, the displacement of a mobile device is estimated by calculating SAD values between two consecutive images. We evaluated the performance of the proposed algorithm with 1500 images. True matching accuracy of the proposed algorithm is 90% and the computation for each image is conducted in 5m sec.

  • The death scenes are the culmination of both Doris Lessing's "To Room Nineteen" and Toni Morrison's Sula. Lessing's Susan, an intelligent white English woman, gradually loses the meaning of life as awealthy housewife in the patriarchal society and commits suicide as her solution in Room Nineteen of Fred's Hotel. Morrison's Sula, an African-American woman, grows up without having the normal ego under Eva's matriarchy in a black community named the Bottom. Sula, after Nel's marriage, becomes a symbol of evil to her community and drifts down to death in Eva's bed. Reading these two death stories from the perspective of Jung's archetypal psychology, Susan is not able to continue to live a meaningful life because her life energy is cut off from its source which is in the unconscious. According to Jung, the symbol is the medium of the psychic energy from the unconscious to consciousness. In modern society which is represented by intelligence, the religious and mythical symbols are removed by rationalism, which means disconnection of the flow of life energy from the unconscious. Susan's death can be read as a kind of creating symbol to connect the modern people to the source of life energy. Sula's case is the opposite of Susan's. She remains in the unconscious world without having the proper ego in the absurd reality of racial and sexual problems. Sula finally rises again in Nel's awareness, becoming a symbol of the feminine goddess like goddess Inanna.
