철도신호설비용 서지보호기에 대한 규격 검토 (The Review of Specification for SPDs used in Railway Signalling Equipment)

  • Recently, there are increasing social needs for safe operation of trains and comforting for passengers. But lightning surges are responsible for serious disturbances such as damage, permanent degradation or temporary erratic operation of sensitive electronics circuits and systems. The purpose of this paper is to identify the requirements for Surge Protective Devices(SPDs) used in protecting railway signalling system. In this paper, we describes tests and requirements which establish methods for testing SPDs and determining their performance.

  • 본 연구에서는 철도 시스템에서 발생할 수 있는 서지관련 전자기장해 현상을 고찰하고, 철도 시스템용 서지보호장치가 갖추어야 할 기본 성능을 검토하였다. 서지보호장치 관련 철도규격을 국제규격과 비교 검토한 결과 성능평가 항목에 있어서 개선사항을 발견하였다. 이러한 사항들을 토대로 하여 철도규격의 개정방안을 제시하였다.

국제규격 대응 컴퓨터 네트워크용 서지방호장치 개발 (Development of a Surge Protective Device for Computer Network to International Standards)

  • 본 논문은 외부의 서지로부터 컴퓨터 네트워크회로의 보호를 위한 서지방호장치에 대하여 기술하였다. 서지방호장치는 동작속도가 빠른 아발란시 다이오드와 에너지 내량이 큰 가스튜브의 하이브리드형으로 구성하였으며, 고주파 대역에서의 삽입손실을 줄이기 위하여 고속회복 다이오드를 사용하였다. 제안한 서지전압 차단장치의 성능 평가를 위하여 국제규격 IEC 61000-4-5 및 IEC 61643-21에 따라 서지차단특성과 신호전송 특성평가를 수행하였다. 실험결과로부터 본 서지차단장치는 국제규격에 제시된 서지차단특성을 만족하였으며, -3dB의 고역차단 주파수가 204 MHz로 100 Mbps급 근거리 통신네트워크에 적합한 특성을 나타내었다.

  • According to the korea standard (KS)'s definition through 'KSC IEC 61643-1(2007), A SPD(Surge Protective Device) is an appliance designed to protect electrical devices from voltage spikes and the principal components used to reduce or limit high voltages can include one or more of the nonlinear components. 4 type of those nonlinear components are utilized in accordance with korea standard's IEC regulation. The SPD is installed the place(in and out side of installation for protecting damage due to the inflow of light surge) which we need by combination of nonlinear components. In this study, the analysis based on the characteristics of SPD from PF track circuit are discussed.

  • 최근 고품질의 정보통신서비스와 안정한 전력공급에 대한 사회적 요구가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 뇌서지로부터 정보통신설비를 효과적으로 보호하는 대책을 제안하기 위해서 실규모 실험회로를 적용하여 여러 가지 설치조건에 따른 서지보호기의 보호효과를 실험적으로 조사하였다. 그 결과 전원계통의 접지방식, 분기회로의 수, 접지선의 배선방법 등에 따라 서지보호기의 보호효과는 크게 다른 것으로 밝혀졌다. 정보화 기기용 서지보호기를 설치하는 경우, 전원선과 통신선을 포함하는 공통접지방식과 접지선을 전원선과 일괄하여 금속관 내에 배선하는 것이 서지보호기의 서지차단성능의 향상에 가장 효과적이었다.

  • This paper deals with the effective protection method for the household electric appliances against lightning surges invading from the Power lines. Direct or induced lightning is the main cause of the breakdown of household electric appliance. The most effective protection method is to install SPDs(surge protective devices) at household electric appliances. If SPDs were not installed at most household electric appliances, it is necessary to install SPDs on the mains. Therefore the propagation aspect and protection methods of lighting surges coming into household electric appliances through the mains was experimentally investigated. The in actual-sized test circuits results of protection method for 8 household electric appliances including computer monitors and TV set could be summarized as follows: The breakdown characteristics of household electric appliances from lightning surges were significantly changed with the their input impedance. Namely, the types of input impedance are classified into infinite, resistive or inductive impedances. Especially, the monitor for computer with inductive input impedance from lightning surges was relatively weak against lightning surges. It was confirmed that the self inductance of branch circuits on the mains have protection effect for household electric appliances against lightning surges invading from the power lines. Also the varistors installed at cabinet panel or circuit-breaker were more effective than multi-tap outlet with varistors. When installed varistors in cabinet panel and multi-tap outlet together, the surge protection effect is much more excellent in technical and economical aspects.

  • This paper presents the protection effect of SPDs according to installation conditions. To develop the effective protection countermeasures of information and communication equipments against lightning surges, actual-sized experiments in relation to the protection effects on the installation positions of surge protective devices(SPDs), the length of branch circuit the materials and long of conduit were conducted. The best method for protecting the electronic equipments from surges is to install the SPD at the front point of the devices to be protected. The installation method of the metal conduit bonded with common ground conductor were more effective than that of the PVC conduit.

  • With the abnormal weather phenomena caused by global warming, the frequency and intensity of lightning strikes are increasing, and lightning accidents are becoming one of the biggest causes of failures and accidents in offshore wind turbines. In order to secure generator operation reliability, effective and practical measures are needed to reduce lightning damage. Because offshore wind turbines are tall structures installed at sea, the possibility of direct lightning strikes is very high compared to other structures, and the role of surge protection devices to minimize damage to the electrical and electronic circuits inside the wind turbine is very important. In this study, a varistor, which is a key element for a class 1 surge protection device for direct lightning protection, was developed. The current density was improved by changing the varistor composition, and the distance between the electrode located on the varistor surface and the edge of the varistor was optimized through a simulation program to improve the fabrication process. Considering the combined effects of heat distribution, electric field distribution, and current density on the optimized varistor surface, silver electrodes were formed with a gap of 0.5 mm. The varistor developed in this study was confirmed to have an energy tolerance of 10/350 ㎲, 50kA, which is a representative direct lightning current waveform, and good protection characteristics with a limiting voltage of 2 kV or less.

  • IEC 규격을 기반으로 최근에 개정된 KS 규격에 따라 등전위 접지시스템이 중요하게 자리매김 하였으며, 전원시스템의 안정성을 위해 서지보호소자의 사용이 급격히 증가하고 있다. 내재된 비선형 저항성분으로 뛰어난 V-I 특성을 가지는 $Z_nO$ 바리스터는 서지전압을 제한하여 서지전류로 환류시키기 위해 전원용 보호기로 주로 사용되고 있다. 이러한 $Z_nO$ 바리스터는 교류 전원선에 접속하기 위해서 몇 가지 회로조합 형태로 구성되어 사용되는데, 사용자는 바리스터를 직렬 혹은 병렬로 조합하여 사용함에 있어서 안전에 직접적으로 관련된 기능이나 열적 안정성을 포함한 많은 것들을 고려하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 40[kA]의 전류용량을 가지는 단일 바리스터 소자와 직렬 혹은 병렬 회로조합의 바리스터에 대하여 잔류전압, 방전전류, 누설전류, 표면온도를 측정하여 각각의 조합형태에 따라 안정성을 비교하였다.

  • This paper deals with investigation on the spot for grounding systems of buildings based on international standards at construction sites. The investigation was carried out for grounding method, grounding type, shape of grounding electrode, grounding for a lightning protection system, continuity of steelwork in reinforced concrete structures, etc. The investigation on the spot was performed by a researcher and engineer with over fifteen years of industry experience all over the country. As a result of the investigation on the spot in 13 buildings, common grounding and structure grounding methods were dominant. The safety improvement methods include installation of equipotential bonding conductors for the connection to the main earthing terminal, equipotential bonding conductors for supplementary bonding, use of Surge Protective Devices (SPD), and safe connections between earthing conductors and the rebar.
