Effect of Organic Photosensitizers on the Antimicrobial Property of Polyurethane coated Leather

  • Cow leather coated with polyurethane film that contains various organic photosensitizers was investigated to demonstrate the antimicrobial properties in the application of the material to protective clothing and home appliances. To prepare the antimicrobial coating on leather surfaces with high potency against microbes, photoactive agents, such as benzophenone (BP), 4,4'-bis(dimethylamino) benzophenone (MK), 4,4'-dihydroxybenzophenone (DHBP) and methylene blue (MB), were incorporated into polyurethane-based coating solutions. The photoactive antimicrobial agent treated leather samples were characterized by SEM, color appearance, color fastness against abrasion, and antimicrobial tests. The optical properties of organic photosensitizers indicated that active UV absorbance ranges were different: BP (around 250 nm), MK (around 360 nm), DHBP (around 305 nm) and MB (around 295 nm &570 nm-685 nm). The intensity of the UV absorbance curve at the UVA light wavelength for the antimicrobial test showed the highest value with MK; subsequently, this was followed by MB, DHBP and BP in decreasing order. The treated-leather samples demonstrated excellent antibacterial activity under UVA light. The antimicrobial effects for the Staphylococcus aureus were superior to Escherichia coli. Moreover, the polyurethane finishing showed an effective durability to abrasion. The overall results indicated that DHBP is the most suitable PU coating additive to provide antimicrobial properties to leather as well as color and surface appearance than MK, MB, and BP.

  • Cosmetic mask is one of the traditional cosmetic product and is used to keep skin healthy and beautiful through moisturizing effect, cleansing effect and acceleration effect on microcirculation. There are several types of cosmetic mask such as peel-off type, tissue-off type, wash-off type and cotton sheet type immersed in cosmetic water. It is important for cosmetic formulators to develop an adequate type of cosmetic mask that meets the needs of the target consumers because each type of cosmetic mask has benefits and problems in its usage and efficacy. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is widely used as an active ingredient of peel-off type cosmetic mask and the physical property of the PVA film changes with the usage of other ingredients. We studied the change of physical properties of the film containing PVA by formulating peel-off type cosmetic mask with the variation of humectants. Methylguceth-20 and glycereth-26 reduce the interaction between skin surface and PVA film without serious weakening of tensile strength and they can alleviate irritation. Glycerin, urea and betaine help PVA film soften and they also have excellent efficacy as humectants.

아크방전을 이용한 표면개질 플라이애시의 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Properties of Surface Treatment Fly Ash Using Arc Discharge)

  • 플라이애시는 콘크리트의 혼화재로서 사용되는 재료로, 이를 콘크리트 제조에 사용할 경우 시멘트 사용량 감소 및 내화학성 증가와 같은 성능 향상을 기대할 수 있다. 하지만 플라이애시는 미연탄소 함유량 및 표면에 존재하는 유리질의 박막과 같은 문제점이 지적되고 있다. 다량의 미연탄소를 함유하는 플라이애시를 사용하여 콘크리트를 제조할 경우, AE제의 흡착 현상에 의해 슬럼프가 저하되는 문제점이 동반된다. 또한, 입자 표면에 존재하는 유리질 박막은 플라이애시로부터 반응성 물질이 용출되는 것을 방해하여 화학 반응이 일어나지 못하게 만드는 역할을 한다. 지금까지 이러한 플라이애시의 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 플라즈마를 이용한 표면개질 방안이 연구되었으나, 플라즈마는 $O_2$가 활성기체로서 사용될 경우 $O_3$를 발생시키는 문제점을 지니고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 아크방전을 이용해 플라이애시의 표면을 개질하는 방안에 관한 연구를 진행하였으며, 그에 따른 플라이애시의 물리 화학적 특성 변화를 확인하였다. 실험 결과, 아크방전을 이용해 플라이애시의 표면을 개질할 경우 미연탄소가 제거되며 유리질 박막이 파괴되는 것을 확인하였다.

크롬 질화물(CrN)의 합성 및 촉매특성에 관한 연구 (Synthesis of Chromium Nitride and Evaluation of its Catalytic Property)

  • $CrCl_{3}$$NH_{3}$와 반응시켜 약 $850^{\circ}C$에서 표면적이 높은 단일 상 CrN 촉매를 합성하였다. 열질량분석을 통해 고체상 화학변이가 발생하는 온도를 파악하였고 물질의 상을 XRD로 분석하였다. 합성물질의 표면적, 결정크기 등을 분석하였고 합성변수의 영향을 확인하였다. 합성된 질화물의 표면적은 $12{\sim}47m^2/g$이었다. 공간속도는 표면적 증가에 약하게나마 영향을 미쳤는데 반응중간생성물의 빠른 제거가 표면적을 높이는데 기여하는 것으로 파악되었다. 승온환원반응 분석 결과 CrN은 비활성화(passivation)시 거의 산화되지 않아 수소분위기에서의 환원이 거의 일어나지 않았으며 약 $700^{\circ}C$$950^{\circ}C$ 부근에서 결정격자 중의 질소가 $N_{2}$로 분해되었다. 공기분위기에서 10 K/min의 속도로 가열하면 $300^{\circ}C$ 이후의 온도에서 산화가 진행되어 $800^{\circ}C$ 부근에서 $Cr_{2}O_{3}$ 상이 형성되기 시작하였으며 $900^{\circ}C$에서도 완전히 산화되지 않았다. 부탄과 피리딘을 이용한 활성실험 결과 CrN 촉매는 탈수소반응에 선택적으로 높은 활성을 가졌으며 수첨탈질이나 수소분해반응 활성은 거의 없었다. 부탄의 탈수소반응에서 부피반응속도는 상용 촉매인 $Pt-Sn/Al_{2}O_{3}$보다 우수하였다.

뒷채움재로 이용한 고로 수쇄슬래그의 토압특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (A Study on Earth Pressure Properties of Granulated Blast Furnace Slag Used as Back-fill Material)

  • 고로 수쇄슬래그는 선철의 제철과정에서 생산되는 부산물로서 자연 해성모래와 유사한 입자형상을 가지고 경량이며 큰 전단강도와 투수성을 나타낸다. 특히, 고로 수쇄슬래그는 시간경과와 더불어 경화하는 잠재수경성을 가진다. 따라서 고로 수쇄슬래그가 안벽이나 옹벽의 뒷채움 재료로 사용 되어졌을 때, 경화에 의한 전단강도의 증가로 토압감소가 기대되며, 결과적으로 항만구조물의 건설비용이 감소하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 모형토조를 이용하여 고로 수쇄슬래그와 Toyoura sand에 대해 토압, 벽 마찰력, 가동벽체 표면에서의 토압분포를 측정하는 모형실험을 실시하였다. 실험에서 상대밀도는 25%, 55% 및 70%로 설정하였으며 벽체는 저점을 중심으로 주동 및 수동토압측으로 회전시켰다. 벽체 상부에서의 최대 수평변위는 ${\pm}2mm$로 설정하였다. 모형실험 결과, 고로 수쇄슬래그에서 얻어진 주동토압이 Toyoura sand보다 작음을 알았다.

  • Electrons and phonons in chalcogenide-based materials play are important factors in the performance of an optical data storage media and thermoelectric devices. However, the fundamental kinetics of carriers in chalcogenide materials remains controversial, and active debate continues over the mechanism responsible for carrier relaxation. In this study, we investigated ultrafast carrier dynamics in an multilayered $\{Sb(3{\AA})/Te(9{\AA})\}n$ thin film during the transition from the amorphous to the crystalline phase using optical pump terahertz probe spectroscopy (OPTP), which permits the relationship between structural phase transition and optical property transitions to be examined. Using THz-TDS, we demonstrated that optical conductance and carrier concentration change as a function of annealing temperature with a contact-free optical technique. Moreover, we observed that the topological surface state (TSS) affects the degree of enhancement of carrier lifetime, which is closely related to the degree of spin-orbit coupling (SOC). The combination of an optical technique and a proposed carrier relaxation mechanism provides a powerful tool for monitoring TSS and SOC. Consequently, the response of the amorphous phase is dominated by an electron-phonon coupling effect, while that of the crystalline structure is controlled by a Dirac surface state and SOC effects. These results are important for understanding the fundamental physics of phase change materials and for optimizing and designing materials with better performance in optoelectronic devices.

코코넛 오일로부터 유래된 아미노산계 음이온 계면활성제의 합성 및 계면 특성 연구 (Synthesis of Amino Acid-based Anionic Surfactants from Coconut Oil and Characterization of Interfacial Properties)

  • 본 연구에서는 천연 유래의 코코넛 오일을 원료로 사용하여 2종류의 아미노산계 음이온 생체계면활성제 포타슘 코코일 글루타메이트(potassium cocoyl glutamate, CTK)와 소듐 코코일 글루타메이트(sodium cocoyl glutamate, CTN)를 합성하였으며, 합성한 계면활성제의 구조를 FT-IR, $^1H-NMR$$^{13}C-NMR$ 분석을 통하여 규명하였다. 합성한 계면활성제에 대하여 정적 및 동적 표면장력과 유화력 등의 계면 물성을 측정한 결과, CTK와 CTN 모두 계면 활성이 우수하고 계면 에너지를 낮추는데 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 특히, CTK 계면활성제가 CTN 계면활성제와 비교하여 계면 에너지를 낮추는데 보다 효과적이었는데 이는 CTK가 소수성이 더 크고 계면활성제 단분자가 벌크 용액으로부터 공기와 수용액의 계면으로 이동하는 속도가 빨라서 공기와 수용액의 계면이 계면활성제 단분자에 의하여 더 짧은 시간에 포화되기 때문임을 알 수 있었으며, 생활용품이나 화장품 제조에 적용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

마그네트론 스퍼터링 법을 이용한 IZO/Ag/IZO 다층 박막 투명 면상 발열체 (IZO/Ag/IZO Multilayers Prepared by Magnetron Sputtering for Flexible Transparent Film Heaters)

  • Transparent film heaters (TFHs) based on Joule heating are currently an active research area. However, TFHs based on an indium tin oxide (ITO) monolayer have a number of problems. For example, heating is concentrated in part of the device. Also, heating efficiency is low because it has high sheet resistance ($R_S$). Resistance of indium zinc oxide (IZO) is similar to ITO and it can be used to flexible applications due to its amorphous structure. To solve these problems, our study introduced hybrid layers of IZO/Ag/IZO deposited by magnetron sputtering, and the electrical, optical, and thermal properties were estimated for various thickness of the metal interlayer. It was found that the sheet resistance of the multilayer was mainly dependent on the thickness of the Ag layers. The $R_S$ of IZO(40)/Ag/IZO(40nm) multilayer was 5.33, 3.29, $2.15{\Omega}/{\Box}$ for Ag thickness of 10, 15, and 20nm, respectively, while the $R_S$ of an IZO monolayer(95nm) was $59.58{\Omega}/{\Box}$. The optical transmittance at 550nm for the IZO(95nm) monolayer is 81.6%, and for the IZO(40)/Ag/IZO(40nm) multilayers with Ag thickness 10, 15 and 20nm, is for 72.8, 78.6, and 63.9%, respectively. The defrost test showed that the film with the lowest RS had the highest heat generation rate (HGR) for the same applied voltage. The results indicated that IZO(40)/Ag(15)/IZO(40nm) multilayer has the best suitable property, which is a promising thin film heater for the application in vehicle windshield.

  • The dynamic behavior of fatty acid monolayers at the air-water interface was investigated using a displacement current-measuring technique coupled with the so-called Langmuir film technique and also the dipole moment of the acids was determined. The displacement current flowing though a short circuit wan generated only when induced charges on an electrode flowing though suspended in air was changed by monolayer compression. The displacement current measurement was found to be a very sensitive method used for a better understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the monolayers placed on the water surface and it was also found to be a very useful method for detecting the dynamic motion of molecules in the entire range from the so-called gaseous state to solid state at the same time. In the paper investigate fatty monolayer dynamic state and electric property character. As result. Displacement current generate higher nearly distance electrodel and water surface. Also, Molecule behavior was found pocess active higher thermal.
