  • In Korea, the car mobile phone service had started in 1961 and with this Korea Mobile Telecommunications Services was established in 1984. Its service was mainly focused on the mobile phone service for the car which led the popularity of the full-scale mobile phone service. There are many kinds of materials, colors and patterns which are the elements of surface coating techniques. In light of that, we are focused on the UV coating that is ranked as an important part of the techniques in this study. In the first, the use of various materials for the cellular phone and surface processing techniques for the cellular phone were searched. On the basis of the results, the experiments of actual consumer experience with the exfoliation of the surface were done and through that we proposed the best way of processing the surface for the cellular phone and the materials. The result of the Wear Test showed that thick coating was detached more slowly and each company differed in their results with UV paints despite the same thickness of UV coating. The seal (UV) exfoliation of cellular phone is deeply related with the film thickness and the film formation when the users use the cellular phones and the exfoliation of the cellular phone surface will be decreased if the manufacturers meet the best conditions for the cellular phone.

  • We report on a simple method for inducing physical and chemical property-gradient on nanoimprinted patterns by intensity-regulated plasma treatment under caved sample stage. As for the size gradient, a line pattern having a linewidth of 294.9 nm was etched to have gradually varying width from 277.4 nm to 147.9 nm. Modified pattern was proven to be adaptable to replica stamp for reversal patterning. To investigate the wettability gradient, imprinted nanopatterns were coated with fluoroalkylsilane to increase the hydrophobicity, and the surface was modified to have gradually varying wettability from hydrophobic to hydrophilic (contact angle was ${\sim}160^{\circ}$ to ${\sim}5^{\circ}$ on a single chip). This method is expected to be applicable to the selective adsorption of biological entities and hydrodynamic manipulation of liquid droplets for the pumpless microfluidics.

  • Shallow water withdrawal systems have been replaced with a selected withdrawal system to keep stable raw water quality in spite of occurrence of algae and muddy inflow. Before reconstruction of the water intake tower in Yongdam reservoir supplying water to Gosan water treatment facility, we have predicted flow patterns of inflowing water into the water intake tower for various withdrawal conditions. It has been predicted that the water in the withdrawal layer is significantly inflowed from the front with fast velocity into the water intake tower irrespective of withdrawal depth, while the water away from the withdrawal layer is withdrawed a little from the side with slow velocity.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of colon cancer stem cells (CSCs) during chemically-induced rat multi-step colon carcinogenesis with or without the treatment with a specific cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor drug (celecoxib). Two experiments were performed, the first, a short term 12 week colon carcinogenesis bioassay in which only surrogate markers for colon cancer, aberrant crypt foci (ACF) lesions, were formed. The other experiment was a medium term colon cancer rat assay in which tumors had developed after 32 weeks. Treatment with celecoxib lowered the numbers of ACF, as well as the tumor volumes and multiplicities after 32 weeks. Immunohistochemical proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) labeling indexes LI (%) were downregulated after treatment by celecoxib. Also different cell surface antigens known to associate with CSCs such as the epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), CD44 and CD133 were compared between the two experiments and showed differential expression patterns depending on the stage of carcinogenesis and treatment with celecoxib. Flow cytometric analysis demonstrated that the numbers of CD133 cells were increased in the colonic epithelium after 12 weeks while those of CD44 but not CD133 cells were increased after 32 weeks. Moreover, aldehyde dehydrogenase-1 activity levels in the colonic epithelium (a known CSC marker) detected by ELISA assay were found down-regulated after 12 weeks, but were up-regulated after 32 weeks. The data have also shown that the protective effect of celecoxib on these specific markers and populations of CSCs and on other molecular processes such as apoptosis targeted by this drug may vary depending on the genetic and phenotypic stages of carcinogenesis. Therefore, uncovering these distinction roles of CSCs during different phases of carcinogenesis and during specific treatment could be useful for targeted therapy.

  • Dental calculus which is calcifing and/or calcified dental plaque is divided into supragingival calculus and subgingival calculus according to the position of deposit to gingival margin. Subgingival calculus has more important clinical significance in diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease than supragingival calculus. In order to investigate the deposition pattern of subgingival calculus on each root surface of different tooth type, extracted 192 teeth due to excessive destruction of periodontal tissue were divided according to tooth type and the deposition pattern of subgingival calculus was classified into linear type, veneer type, scattered type, and aggregated type according to the configuration and the extent of deposit. The difference of percentage between each deposition pattern was statistically analyzed by Chi-Square test. Following results were obtained : l. In maxillary incisors, linear type and aggregated type were predominant deposition pattern of subgingival calculus on labial(45.5%, 36.4%) and palatal(36.4%, 36.4%) root surface, aggreated type(72.7%) was on mesial surface, and aggregated type(54.5%) and scattered type(36.4%) was on distal suface. 2. In mandibular incisors, scattered type, linear type and aggregated type were predominant deposition pattern of subgingival calculus on labial(33.3%, 30.6%, 27.8%) and lingual(36.1%, 30.6%, 25.0%) root surface, aggregated type(33.3%), scattered type(27.8% ), and veneer type(27.8%) were on mesial surface, and aggregated type(38.9%) and scattered type(33.3%) on distal surface. 3. • Viscous flows behind transom stern are analyzed based on CFD simulation results. Stern wave pattern is often complicated due to the abrupt change of stern surface curvature and flow separation at transom. When a ship advances at high speed, whole transom stern is exposed out of water, resulting in the so-called 'dry transom'. However, in the moderate speed regime, stern wave development in conjunction of flow separation makes unstable wavy surface partially covering transom surface, i.e., the so-called 'wetted transom'. Transom wave formation is usually affecting the resistance characteristics of a ship, since the pressure contribution on transom surface as well as the wave-making resistance is changed. Flow modeling for 'wetted transom' is difficult, while the 'dry transom modeling' is often applied for the high-speed vessels. In the present study CFD results from the RANS equation solver using a finite volume method with level-set treatment are utilized to assess the topology of transom flow pattern for a destroyer model (DTMB5415) and a container ship (KCS). It is found that transom flow patterns are quite different for the two ships, in conformity to the shape of submerged transom. Furthermore, the existence of free surface seems to after the flow topology in case of KCS.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) applied to the unilateral upper extremity on the muscle activation of contralateral lower extremity. Twenty-two healthy subjects (mean age of 23.7 years) participated in this study. Method : PNF patterns applied on the unilateral upper extremity in all subjects were the flexion/abduction/external rotation and lifting pattern. The hold and appoximation techniques for the irradiation were applied to end range of both patterns. Muscle activations in four patterns were measured in vastus medialis, tibialis anterior, rectus femoris, and gastrocnemius medial muscles of contralateral lower extremity using surface EMG system. Each EMG value in individual muscle was normalized for maximal voluntary contraction. The data were analyzed by one factor analysis of variance with repeated measure test. Result : There were significant differences in the between-subject effect (muscles) and within-subject effect (patterns) in comparison of muscle activation by application of PNF patterns (p<.05). The irradiation led to higher activation in the flexion/abduction/external rotation pattern than that of lifting pattern in all muscles (p<.05). The approximation techniques revealed more activations than these of hold technique in all muscles (p<.05). Conclusion : These results suggest that the application of PNF patterns to the unilateral upper extremity affect on the muscle activation of contralateral lower extremity and increase according to the intensity of resistance. This mechanism of contralateral effect might provide a help to the development of treatment method for the affected side and functional improvement for the patients who have damages of central nervous system or musculoskeletal problems by orthopedic injury.

  • Masticatory function is more important than esthetics in posterior fixed restoration. The usual technique-mounting the casts on a semi-adjustable articulator, etc. -cannot make all patients satisfied with their restorations. For example, functionally generated path technique can be an easier and more satisfactory method in the restoration of group function. These clinical reports describe various approaches for occlusal restoration of relatively simple posterior fixed protheses according to patients occlusal patterns. The 3-unit bridge restoration is one of the most popular treatment options in prosthodontics. Because dentists have much experiences of it, they restore a missing span of one tooth mechanically, that is, without special consideration. While esthetics is important in making an anterior 3-unit fixed prostheses, mastication is more focused on in posterior 3-unit bridge restoration. Many dentists are concerned about various aspects in esthetics, such as morphology of the tooth, value, chroma, hue, translucency, surface texture, etc. But they do not usually consider various methods to restore occlusion. They treat one-tooth-missing area in a similar way in spite of patients having variety of occlusal patterns. Three cases are presented here in 3 or 4-unit bridge restoration. They show some methods to restore patients' occlusal patterns.

  • Ceramic is select for an alternative substrate material for high-speed circuits due to its low-thermal expansion. As, in this study, ceramic was prepared by ISG (interlayer sol-gel) process using metal salts and a metal alkoxide as the starting materials. Generally ceramic substrate is used electroless copper plating for the metallization. But it has been indicate weakely the adhesion strength between the substrate and copper layer. Therefore, this research, using the ISG process on the preparation of homogeneous and possible preparation at law temperature fabricated sol solution. Using of the dip coating method was coated for the purpose of giving the anchoring effect on the coating layer and enhancing the adhesion strength between the $Al_2$O$_3$ substrate and copper layer. This study examined primary the characteristic of the sol making condition and differential thermal analysis (DTA) X-ray diffraction (XRD) were mearsured to identify the crystal phase of heat treatment specimens. The morphology of the coated films were studied by scanning electron microscopy(SEM). As a resurt, XRD analysis was obtained patterns of $\alpha$-cordierite after heat-treatment about 2 hours at $1000^{\circ}C$. SEM analysis could have seen a large number of voids on coated film. The more contants of$ Al_2$$O_3$ Wt% was increased the more voids was advanced. Peel adhesion strength has a maximum in the contants of the TEOS:ANE of 1:0.7 mole%. In this case, adhesion strength has been measured 1150gf, peel adhesion strength were about 10 times more than uncoated of the ceramics film.
