Lower flux leakage designs have become important in the development of microspeakers used in thin and miniaturized mobile phones. We propose four methods to reduce the flux leakage of the magnetic circuit in a microspeaker. Optimization was performed based on the proposed approach by using the response surface method. Electromagnetic analyses were conducted using the finite element method. Experimental results are in good agreement with the simulated results obtained in one degree-of-freedom analysis from 100 to 5 kHz. Both the simulated and experimental results confirm that one of the proposed methods is much more effective in reducing flux leakage than the other methods. In the optimized method, compared with a default approach, the average radial flux density in the air gap decreased only by 5.5%, the maximum flux leakage was reduced by 28.6%, and the acoustic performance at primary resonance decreased by 0.45 dB, which gap is indiscernible to the human ear.
CoSi$_2$/p+/n diodes(bilayer diodes) were fabricated by using epitaxial CoSi$_2$grown from Co/Ti bilayer as a diffusion source. The I-V characteristics of p+/n diodes were measured and compared with those of diode made from Co monolayer (monolayer diode). Monolayer diodes showed typical p+n junction characteristics with the leakage current of as low as 10$^{-12}$ A and forward current 6-orders higher than the leakage current, when drive-in annealed at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 20 sec.. On the other hand, bilayer diodes showed the Schottky-like behaviors with forward currents rather higher than those of monolyer diodes, but with too high leakage currents, when drive-in annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ or higher. However, when the annealing temperature was lowered to $700^{\circ}C$ and annealing time was increased to 60 sec., the leakage current was reduced to 10$^{-11}$ A and thus sho3wed typical diode characteristics. The high leakage currents for diodes annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ or higher was attributed to Shannon contacts formed due to unremoved Co-Ti-Si precipitates. But when annealed at 50$0^{\circ}C$, B ions diffused in the direction of the surface layer, and thus the leakage currents were reduced by removing Shannon contacts.
The stability and the leakage performance of turbo pump unit seals supported by elastic-ring ball bearings are Investigated for the Improvement of onset speed of instability(OSI). The numerical analysis of floating ring seal in consistence with its geometry and operating conditions is executed with detailed comparison of various seal types. The results show that the floating ring seal has superior performance in terms of rotordynamic salability compared to the ocher type seals while it shows slightly inferior leakage performance. To Improve the leakage performance. floating ring seal could be combined with hole Pattern damper or labyrinth seal surface.
This paper reports the contamination performance of transmission line porcelain insulators tested under five different contaminant conditions - clean and ESDD (equivalent salt deposit density) level (A, B, C, and D) through measurement of their leakage current under drop of potential method. To estimate the contamination for transmission line porcelain insulators, leakage current waveform and its maximum value were measured under step-up power test. In the clean insulators test, % distortion factors decreased with increasing step-up power, and as the ESDD level increased, some characteristics such as frequency analysis, harmonics and % distortion facotor could be used for contamination diagnosis of the transmission line porcelain insulators.

A linear cascade of NACA 65-1810 profiles are investigated for tip leakage flow characteristics. and calculation results are compared with experimental result. STAR-CD commercial code was used to solve the three dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equation that was adopted for steady flow and high Reynolds $\kappa$- $\varepsilon$turbulent model. Numerical calculation of a linear cascade is carried out to investigate effect of tip clearance on pitchwise variations of velocity Profiles. and static pressure distributions on the blade surface at spanwise positions. In case of evolution of tip vortex core location. tip vortex geometry and static pressure at the center of the tip vortex core compared with experimental results. Calculation results are agreed well with the experimental data, and validated. The static pressure losses by tip leakage flow at 2% tip clearance were more than those at 1% tip clearance.
This paper presents the results of power spectra using the fundamental and low frequency harmonic components of leakage current waveform to study aging on contaminated EPDM insulator(was serviced during 1997-2001, region Pohang, korea) under salt fog conditions. Experiments have been conducted in the chamber salt fog and at the 16KVrms. The salt contents adjusted as 0g,25g,50g and 75g per liter of deionized water. The onset of dry-band arcing on polymer insulators could be determined by signal processing the low frequency harmonics components. A correlation has been found between the fundamental and low harmonic components of power spectra on leakage current. Where aging could be associated with an increase in the level of both the fundamental and low frequency harmonics components of leakage current. Surface aging for contaminated EPDM insulators occurred when the fundamental component of leakage current was greater then some level On the other hand, when the polymer insulator approached failure, the fundamental component of leakage current reached relatively high values and low frequency harmonics components of the leakage current trended to decrease. The results suggest that both the fundamental and low frequency harmonics of leakage current can be used as a tool to determine both the beginning of aging and before flashover, end of life EPBM insulator in salt fog.
Despite the improvements in bond strengths of dentin adhesives and resin-modified glass ionomers, the marginal seal of cervical restorations remains a concern. Microleakage at poorly sealed margins can result in staining, post-operative sensitivity, pulpal irritation, and recurrent caries. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of surface penetrating sealant(SPS) on the microleakage of cervical restorations. 45 extracted human teeth were selected, and Class V preparations were prepared on the both buccal and lingual surface of the teeth to the following dimensions : 1.5mm axially, 3mm mesiodistally, and 3mm incisogingivally. After cervical restoration with composite resin, compomer, glass ionomer each restoration was treated as three methods: No Tx., Scotchbond Multipurpose Adhesive$^{\circledR}$, Fortify$^{\circledR}$. The sections were examined with a stereomicroscope to determine the extent of microleakage at enamel and dentin margins. The results of this study were as follows. 1. All groups showed some microleakage. 2. Gingival cavity wall with cementum margin showed significantly higher leakage value than occlusal cavity wall with enamel margin. 3. The group treated with SPS showed significantly lower leakage value than no treated group(p<0.05). But there is no difference between Fortify$^{\circledR}$ and Scotchbond Multipurpose adhesive$^{\circledR}$. The results of this study suggest that SPS are effective in reducing microleakage of class V restorations. But it is certain that some microleakage still occurred despite the application of SPS.
Contamination of environment induces the shortage of drinkables. In this trend, the leakage of water that occurs by breakage or erosion of rubber valve seats is serious problem. Rubber is apt to cause breakage between two materials when they contact with each other. The possible way to avoid leakage of water by damage and breakdown of rubber is to replace that with metal. Because of this reason, nowadays, rubber is being substituted with metal as valve seat materials for water works. In tribology, a severe from of wear is characterized by local, macroscopic material transfer, removal, or formation of surface protrusions when two solid surfaces experience relative sliding under load. One of the major problems in sliding of metals is galling due to bad surface quality. Experimentally, there are various elements which influence on incipient galling, such as hardness, surface roughness, temperature, load, velocity and external environments. This paper is aimed at verifying the galling tendencies according to hardness, surface roughness, load and velocity and showing how much effect the factors have on the galling tendencies.
In this study, the deformation of the free surface motion of a magnetic fluid for the change in electromagnetic force is discussed. In case, magnetic fluid in characteristics of fluid adjusted to the opposite direction of the gravity direction. Thus, the device of a magnetic fluid proposed the complete zero-leakage Sealing and the surface actuator. The device of surface deformation as well comparison between numerical simulation and experiments as will be presented.

HVDC technology has become popular as an economic mode of bulk power transmission over very long distances. Polymeric insulators in HVDC power transmission lines are affected by surface tracking and erosion problems due to contamination deposit, which pose a greater challenge in maintaining the reliability of the HVDC system. In addition, polymeric insulators are also naturally affected by aging due to various environmental stresses, which in turn accelerates the surface tracking and erosion problems. Research works towards the improvement of tracking and erosion resistance of polymeric insulators by adding nano-sized fillers in the base material are being carried out worldwide. However, surface tracking and erosion performance of nano-filled aged polymeric insulators for HVDC applications are not well reported. Hence, in the present work, tracking and erosion resistance of the nano $Al(OH)_3$ filled silicone rubber insulation material has been evaluated under DC voltages at different filler concentrations and aged conditions, as per IEC 60587 test procedures. Leakage current and contact angle measurements were carried out to understand the surface hydrophobicity. Moving average technique was used to analyze the trend followed by leakage current. Water aged specimen shows less tracking resistance when compared with thermal aged specimen. It is observed that nano-filler concentration of 5% is even sufficient to get better tracking/erosion resistance under DC voltages.
