This study conducted WRF-Fire simulations in order to investigate sensitivities of the resolution of fire fuel and terrain data sets, and the surface wind to simulated fire area. The sensitivity simulations were consisted of 8 different WRF-Fire runs, each of which used different combination of data sets of fire fuel and terrain with different resolution. From the results it was turned out that the surface wind was most sensitive. The next was fire fuel and then fire terrain. Unfortunately, every run produced too much fire area. In other words no simulations succeeded in simulating such proper fire area so as for the WRF-Fire to be used realistically. It was verified that the errors of fire area from each runs were contributed by 41%, 53%, and 6% from surface wind, fire fuel, and fire terrain, respectively. Finally this study suggested that the selection of Anderson fuel category in the area of interest seemed to be very critical in the performance of WRF-Fire simulations.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes of surface runoff by comparisons between burned and unburned area after forest fire. The amount of surface runoff in burned area was more high 1.72 times in the year of fire, 1.44 times in one year later, 1.38 times in five years later and 1.16 times in ten years later than those of unburned area. Therefore, surface runoff in the burned area almost tended to be stabilized like unburned area ten year later after forest fire. The most affecting factors on the amount of surface runoff in burned and unburned area were number of unit rainfall, number of rainfall accumulated and unit rainfall. But coverage was shown to mitigate the amount of surface runoff in burned and unburned area.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the burning impacts of the surface and crown fire occured in yongsan-ri meongsok-myun of chinju-city, Gyeongnam. Environmental influences like surface runoff and soil erosion changes were investigated by comparisons analysis between burned and unburned area about some initial effects after fire. The results obtained from this study were as followed; 1. The average amount of surface runoff in burned area was more 1.7 times than in unburned area. But it was gradually tend to decrease in burned area as times passed. 2. Factors significantly correlated to amount of surface runoff in burned area shown in order to unit rainfall, accumulated rainfall and sand content, as 0.9466 of multiple correlation coefficient, where as the factors in unburned area were unit rainfall, soil erosion, bulk density and soil hardness, as 0.9738 of multiple correlation coefficient. 3. The average amount of soil erosion in burned area was more 11.2 times than in unburned area. But it was gradually tend to decrease in burned area as times passed. 4. Factors significantly correlated to amount of soil erosion in burned area were surface runoff and unit rainfall, as 0.6305 of multiple correlation coefficient. The factors in unburned area shown in order to surface runoff, sand content, bulk density and unit rainfall, as 0.7879 of multiple correlation coefficient.
Changes on soil physical and chemical properties following the forest fire in Kosung area in Kangwon province were examined. Twenty seven sampling plots[16 burned (8 low intensity fire, 8 high intensity fire) and 11 unburned plots] from Pinus densiflora community were chosen and soil samples from three depths(0-5, 5-15, 15-25 cm) under the forest floor were collected. Forest fire in the area affected soil chemical properties. Soil pH, available phosphorus, base saturation, K, Ca, and Mg on the surface soil(0-5cm) in the burned areas compared with the unburned areas were increased, while soil properties on the subsurface soil(5-25 cm) were not changed. Organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus, and exchangeable cations following the high in tensity fire on the surface soil were generally lower than those in the low intensity fire areas. This indicates that these nutrients on high intensity fire areas may be volatilized. The results suggest that the fire effects on soil chemical properties were confined mainly to the surface soil and were different between the high and the low intensity fire types.
this study was focused on the effects of fire on spatial change of vegetation landscape in rural region. Fire types recognized as erown fire, severe surface fire and light surface fire in order of increasing intensity were described in a fire map. GIS was introduced to understand the relationship between fire types and topographic conditions or vegetation types. We also investigated land-use type and regeneration strategies after burning. Fire intensity depended on topographic conditions and vegetation types. Special land-use type in this area was collection of edible mushroom (Tricholoma matsutake). Mushrooms had been obtained from Pinus densiflora forests existing as edaphic climax or managed artificially. Regeneration strategy in burned areas was to make sprouts from burned oak stumps. A higher density and growth rate of sprouts, as compared to those on unburned areas, facilitated vegetation succession from P. densiflora forest to oak forest and consequently led to change of landscape pattern.
As the feature of fire, it is hard for deep-seated fire to spread to the deeper site, and it also has danger for being re-ignited cause of recontacting with oxygen after being put off. Now it is ruled in the certification criteria of wetting agent used for extinguishing deep-seated fire that the criteria for surface tension is below 33[mN/m] in Korea. For figuring out how much water for fire-fighiting can permeate into combustibles, in this research, the permeating performance is analyzed by measuring the speed of permeating and transmission quantity released after that, by pouring solution whose surface tension is changed by adjusting concentration of surfactant BDG(Butyl Di Glycol) in column From this result, it is can be determined that transmission quantity becomes less and wet area goes wider as surface tension is lower, and it is also able to be analyzed as quantity of absorbed liquid and wet area is increased because fluid permeates into the core.
We investigated moth communities in Samcheok, Korea, to elucidate the influence of the East Coast Fire in 2000. Moths were collected with UV light traps 4 times a year from 2006 to 2009 at 3 sites: Unburned area (Site 1), Surface fire area (Site 2), and Crown fire area (Site 3) sites, respectively. A total of 3,804 individuals belonging to 727 species from 30 families were captured at the 3 study 1,727 individuals of 505 species (27 families) at Site 1, 1,193 individuals of 353 species (24 families) at Site 2, and 885 individuals of 340 species (25 families) at Site 3. Species richness and individuals of Noctuidae, Pyralidae, Geometridae, and Tortricidae were the highest at all 3 sites. All of species richness, individuals, and species diversity (H') were the highest in Site 1 for 4 years. The index of similarity (${\alpha}$-Index) was higher between Site 2 and 3 in 2006, while higher between Site 1 and 2 in 2009. Moths were grouped into 16 categories by hosts of the larval stage. Individuals of moths of herbaceous feeding habit continuously decreased at Site 3, but proportion of individuals of tree feeding habits continuously increased. The present results showed that moth communities was relatively recovered according to vegetation change after forest fire and regeneration of moth communities in surface fire area was more faster than in crown fire area.
This study aims to find the exact area of the forest fire in Okgye-myeon, Gangneung, April 4, 2019. Since there is a gradient in our country's forests, we should find a surface area that takes into account The 5th numerical clinical map provided by the DEM and the Korea Forest Service provided by the National Geographic Information Service was used. In DEM, the center point of each pixel was created and all points were connected. The length of the connecting line is determined by the spatial resolution of the pixel and the cosine value, and the surface area is obtained along with the height value, which is called the Slope-Aspect algorithm. The surface area and floor area of the forest were shown according to the tree species and types of forest, and their quantitative numerical differences proved the validity of this study.
The effect of water spray for the fire sprinkler depends on droples distribution over maximum possible floor area. The present study are carried out for the characteristics of water spray and droplets experimentally and numerically km two fire sprinkler heads which are CHM head and CHl heal CHl head is self-production and CHl head is widely used up to date. As the result of using CHM head, water spray and droplets are distributed over large area because CHM head has smooth surface and non-flamed shape. When the pressure of fire sprinkler head is low, SMD(sauter mean diameter) is large and when the pressure of fire sprinkler head is high, SMD is small.

The objective of design for a post flash-over fire is contain the fire and prevent structural collapse, as necessary to meet the performance requirements. In the post flash-over phase of a fire all of the combustible objects in the compartment are burning and the heat release rate is limited either by the fuel surface area or the available air supply. So for the PBD situations, the process of evaluation method for fire phenomena is very important. It is the aim of this study to investigate and analyze the evaluation method of structural fire resistance in Japan.
