Fe-impregnated activated carbon(Fe-AC) was prepared by Fe(III) loading on activated carbon(AC) in various preparation pH. In order to evaluate the stability of Fe-AC, dissolution of iron from Fe-AC in acidic conditions was measured. In addition, batch experiments were conducted to monitor the removal efficiency of copper by Fe-AC. Results of stability test for Fe-AC showed that the amount of extracted iron increased with contact time but decreased with increasing solution pH. The dissolved amount of iron gradually increased at solution pH 2 and finally 13% of the total iron loaded on activated carbon was extracted after 12 hr. However dissolution of iron was negligible over solution pH 3. Removal of Cu(II) by Fe-AC was greatly affected by solution pH and was decreased as solution pH increased as well as initial Cu(II) concentration decreased. Surface complexation modeling was performed by considering inner-sphere complexation reaction and using the diffuse layer model with MINTEQA2 program.

The studies were undertaken to establish optimum formulation recipes of acetamipid 4% SL(soluble concentrate) using different adjuvants and to evaluate enhanced control effect on target insect pests by adjuvants. Adjuvants for the studies used were SS(Sodium alkylcarboxylate) and PE(Polyoxyethylene alkyl ether). After the fundamental recipe for SL being established by using co-solvent for stability at low temperature, four types of SL were formulated. The physical properties and insecticidal efficacies of the tested SL formulations were investigated. Surface tension of SL1 without adjuvant was highly decreased from 44 dyne/cm to 34 dyne/cm by addition of adjuvants. SL4 using mixed adjuvant showed the lowest contact angle. Efficacies of SL1 without adjuvant against the palm thrips (Thrips palmi) and the cotton aphid (Aphis gossypii) on cucumber were increased by adding adjuvants. SL4 using mixed adjuvant showed higher efficacy than SL2 and SL3 using single adjuvant. These results have demonstrated that the selected adjuvants could be used to enhance insecticide efficacy and reduce spray dose of insecticide.

A plasma hydrophobic coating on commercial fish feed was conducted to prolong the floating time of feed, thereby enhancing the feed consumption rate and reducing the contamination of water in fish farms. The hydrophobic coating on the fish feed was prepared using an atmospheric-pressure dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma with hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO), toluene and n-hexane as the precursors. The effect of the parameters such as input power, precursor type and coating time on the coating performance were examined. The physicochemical properties of the coating layer were analyzed using a Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer and a contact angle (CA) analyzer. The water CA increased after the coating preparation, indicating that the surface changed from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. The FTIR characterization revealed that the hydrophobic layer was comprised of functional groups such as $CH_3$, Si-O-Si and Si-C. As a result of the hydrophobic coating, the floating time of the fish feed increased from several seconds to 3 minutes, which suggested that the plasma coating method could be a viable means for practical applications. Compared to the water CA measured as soon as the coating layer was prepared, the 6-day aged sample exhibited a substantial CA increase, confirming the aging effect on the improvement of the hydrophobicity.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the thermoregulatory responses to postures under different environmental conditions and to obtain the basal information for standard clothing weight, indoor climates, and working condition. Two adult female (22.5yrs, 46kg) were participated in this study. The experimental conditions were divided into three groups ; 1) comfort($27{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $60{\pm}10%$), 2) hot($34{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $60{\pm}10%$), and 3) cold($21{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $50{\pm}10%$) condition. The postures performed were as follows; standing, sitting on the chair, sitting on the floor, and supine on the floor. At each condition, subjective sensations, 12 points skin temperature, rectal temperature, total and local sweat rate, pulse rates, blood pressure, skin blood flow rate were measured. The results were as follows : 1. Rectal temperature was high significant among groups in order of supine, sitting on the floor, sitting on the chair, standing posture(p<0.01). 2. Skin temperature was high in part of contact with the surface of the floor or wall and the effect of posture was greater in peripheral temperature than torso temperature. Sitting on the chair and sitting on the floor posture showed higher peripheral temperature than standing and supine posture. And peripheral temperature was lower in supine posture than any other postures. 3. Total and local sweat rate were decreased in order of standing, sitting on the chair, sitting on the floor, supine posture. 4. Pulse rate and disastolic blood pressure were higher in standing posture than supine posture, and there was significant difference between two postures(p<0.001). 5. Blood flow rate of thigh was high in sitting on the chair and sitting on the floor posture and low in standing posture. Blood flow rate of leg was low in standing posture significantly(p<0.01). 6. In comfort and hot condition, temperature sensation and comfort sensation were higher in standing posture and lower in supine posture than any other postures. In cold condition, temperature sensation was lower and comfort sensation was higher in standing and supine posture than any other postures. And supine posture was appeared positive in hot condition and negative in cold condition. From this study, we confirmed the effects of posture on human thermoregulatory responses. Results indicate that even under same conditions and clothing weight, the insulation of clothing will be different to postures.

Sealing structure to prevent flowing hot gas into the driving device, located between the driving shaft and the liner of On-Off valve for controlling the hot gas flow path was studied. Wear occurs due to the constant movement of the driving shaft controlled by actuator on graphite as the sealing material. In this paper, the dynamic wear behavior in high temperature of graphite(HK-6) to be used as sealing material was evaluated. Reciprocating wear test was carried out for the graphite(HK-6) to the relative motion between shaft materials(W-25Re). The results of friction coefficient and specific wear rate according to contact load, sliding speed at room temperature and $485^{\circ}C$ considering the actual operating environment were evaluated. Through the SEM analysis of the worn surface, third body as lubricant films were observed and lubricant effect of third body was considered.

Although the long-term leakage between the box culvert and the soil contact surface is one of the main causes of the failure in the embankment of the reservoir, there is a little studies on this matter. If a leakage occurs by the structure such as the buried box culvert of reservoir embankment is partially damaged, it is difficult to observe and there is a possibility of damage caused by piping. For these reasons, more research is necessary. In this study, the embankment type of the reservoir is divided into the core type and the homogeneous type when the damaged box culvert passing through the embankment of the reservoir is leaked due to the differential behavior of materials like differential settlement. In view of the condition, the seepage analysis of 2D was performed according to the water level change. The result of the study shows that the possibility of piping increases at the upper part rather than the bottom part of the box culvert when the leakage occurs to the box culvert passing through the embankment of the reservoir. Particularly, it is considered that the presence of the core helps to maintain the seepage stability of the embankment in case where the leakage occurs at the downstream side of the embankment. Also, if there is a drastic decrease on the internal pore water pressure in the embankment of reservoir, it is necessary to consider the possibility of piping.
Humans are exposed by a range of pollutants in soil via exposure routes such as ingestion, inhalation, and dermal contact. Risk assessment is a process of evaluating the adverse health effects of chemicals as a result of exposure to stressors, and it is a very useful tool to establish the cleanup goals in contaminated lands. In the exposure assessment that is one of main process in risk assessment, exposure factor plays a significant role to quantify the intake of soil pollutants. However there is a very limited study about the exposure factor applicable to Korea. In this study, we compared the exposure factors applied by the developed countries including the United States and representative European countries, and suggested the exposure factor that might be suitable in our situation. The exposure factors considered in this study include average lifetime, body weight, (exposed) skin surface area, life time, skin absorption, soil-skin adherence factor, and soil ingestion rate. This information is needed to quantitatively estimate the intake of soil pollutants in contaminated lands.

This study examined the synthesis of large area graphene and the change of its characteristics depending on the ratio of CH4/H2 by using the thermal CVD methods and performed the experiments to control the electron-hole conduction and Dirac-point of graphene by using chemical doping methods. Firstly, with regard to the characteristics of the large area graphene depending on the ratio of CH4/H2, hydrophobic characteristics of the graphene changed to hydrophilic characteristics as the ratio of CH4/H2 reduces. The angle of contact also increased to 78$^{\circ}$ from 58$^{\circ}$. According to the results of Raman spectroscopy showing the degree of defect, the ratio of I(D)/I(G) increases to 0.42% from 0.25% and the surface resistance also increased to 950 ${\Omega}$ from 750 ${\Omega}$/sq. As for the graphene synthesis at the high temperature of 1,000$^{\circ}$ by using CH4/H2 in a Cu-Foil, the possibility of graphene formation was determined as a function of the ratio of H2 included in the fixed quantity of CH4 as per specifications of every equipment. It was observed that the excessive amount of H2 prevented graphene from forming, as extra H-atoms and molecules activated the reaction to C-bond of graphene. Secondly, in the experiment for the electron-hole conduction and the Dirac-point of graphene using the chemical doping method, the shift of Dirac-point and the change in the electron-hole conduction were observed for both the N-type (PEI) and the P-type (Diazonium) dopings. The ID-VG results show that, for the N-type (PEI) doped graphene, Dirac-point shifted to the left (-voltage direction) by 90V at an hour and by 130 V at 2 hours respectively, compared to the pristine graphene. Carrier mobility was also reduced by 1,600 cm2/Vs (1 hour) and 1,100 cm2/Vs (2 hours), compared to the maximum hole mobility of the pristine graphene.

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) have drawn great academic attention due to their potential as low-cost renewable energy sources. DSCs contain a nanostructured TiO2 photoanode, which is a key-component for high conversion efficiency. Particularly, one-dimensional (1-D) nanostructured photoanodes can enhance the electron transport for the efficient collection to the conducting substrate in competition with the recombination processes. This is because photoelectron colletion is determined by trapping/detrapping events along the site of the electron traps (defects, surface states, grain boundaries, and self-trapping). Therefore, 1-D nanostructured photoanodes are advantageous for the fast electron transport due to their desirable features of greatly reduced intercrystalline contacts with specified directionality. In particular, anodic TiO2 nanotube (NT) electrodes recently have been intensively explored owing to their ideal structure for application in DSCs. Besides the enhanced electron transport properties resulted from the 1-D structure, highly ordered and vertically oriented nanostructure of anodic TiO2 NT can contribute additional merits, such as enhanced electrolyte diffusion, better interfacial contact with viscous electrolytes. First, to confirm the advantages of 1-D nanostructured material for the photoelectron collection, we compared the electron transport and charge recombination characteristics between nanoparticle (NP)- and nanorod (NR)-based photoanodes in DSCs by the stepped light-induced transient measurements of photocurrent and voltage (SLIM-PCV). We confirmed that the electron lifetime of the NR-based photoanode was much longer than that of the NP-based photoanode. In addition, highly ordered and vertically oriented TiO2 NT photoanodes were prepared by electrochemical anodization method. We compared the photovoltaic properties of DSCs utilizing TiO2 NT photoanodes prepared by one-step anodization and two-step anodization. And, to reduce the charge recombination rate, energy barrier layer (ZnO, Al2O3)-coated TiO2 NTs also applied in DSC. Furthermore, we applied the TiO2 NT photoanode in DSCs using a viscous electrolyte, i.e., cobalt bipyridyl redox electrolyte, and confirmed that the pore structure of NT array can enhance the performances of this viscous electrolyte.
It was investigated that reinforced species, billet condition and extrusion variation in Al 6061 composite material effected on extrusion process of particulate reinforced composite material. The strength of composite material with reinforcement species revealed SiC$\sub$w/> A1$_2$O$\sub$3f/ > A1$_2$O$\sub$3f/ > A1$_2$O$\sub$3f/ orderly. K$\sub$w/ increased as volute fraction increased in all composite material. The composite materials reinforced by A1$_2$$O_3$required the larger pressure in hot extrusion process than those by SiC$\sub$p/ at all condition. Extrusion process tended to decrease as the semi-angle of extrusion dies increased because larger contact area caused larger shear friction. Extrusion temperature went up about 50$^{\circ}C$ in low elevated deformation temperature. In extrusion temperature above 500$^{\circ}C$, severe tearing occurred on extrusion surface. More reinforcement in volume fraction, more hot tearing.
