We have fabricated the source-drain electrodes for OTFTs by screen printing method and manufactured Ag pastes as conductive paste. To obtain excellent conductivity and screen-printability of Ag pastes, the dispersion characteristics of Ag pastes prepared from two types of acryl resins with different molecular structures and Ag powder treated with caprylic acid, triethanol amine and dodecane thiol as surfactant respectively were investigated. The Ag pastes containing Ag powder treated with dodecane thiol having thiol as anchor group or AA4123 with carboxyl group(COOH) of hydrophilic group as binder resin exhibited excellent dispersity. But, Ag pastes(CA-41, TA-41, DT-41) prepared from AA4123 fabricated the insulating layer since the strong interaction between surface of Ag powder and carboxyl group(COOH) of AA4123 interfered with the formation of conduction path among Ag powders. The viscosity behavior of Ag pastes exhibited shear-thinning flow in the high shear rate range and the pastes with bad dispersion characteristic demonstrated higher shear-thinning index than those with good dispersity due to the weak flocculated network structure. The output curve of OTFT device with a channel length of 107 ${\mu}m$ using screen-printed S-D electrodes from DT-30 showed good saturation behavior and no significant contact resistance. And this device exhibited a saturation mobility of $4.0{\times}10^{-3}$$cm^2/Vs$, on/off current ratio of about $10^5$ and a threshold voltage of about 0.7 V.
Stealth technology of combat aircraft is most significant capability in recent air battlefield. As the detector of IR missiles is being developed, IR stealth capability which is evaluated by IR signature level become more important than it was in previous generation. Among IR signature of aircraft from various sources, aerodynamic heating dominates in long-wavelength IR spectrum of $8{\sim}12{\mu}m$. Skin temperature change by aerodynamic heating which is derived by effects of Mach number and structure. The 4th and 5th generation aircraft are selected for calculation of the skin temperature, and its height and velocity in numerical conditions are 10,000 m and Ma 0.9~1.9 respectively. Aircraft skin temperature is calculated by computing convection of fluid and conduction, convection and radiation of surface. As the aircraft accelerates to higher Mach number, maximum skin temperature increases more rapidly than average temperature and temperature distribution changes in more sharp, interactive ways. The 4th generation aircraft whose shape is more complex than that of the 5th generation aircraft have complicated temperature distribution. On the other hand, the 5th generation aircraft whose shape is relatively simple shows plain temperature distribution and lower skin temperature in terms of both average and maximum value.
Electrical properties of $C_{22}$-Quinolium(TCNQ) Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films are reported depending on a type of applied voltage on a type of applied voltage and temperature. A conductivity was identified to be anisotropic with a ratio of ${\sigma}||/{\sigma}{\bot}{\simeq}10^7$ at room temperature. The I-V characteristics along the film surface direction show an ohmic behavior up to a few hundred volts. But the I-V characteristics in the vertical direction display an ohmic behavior for low-electric field, and a nonohmic behavior for high-electric field. This nonohmic behavior has already been interpreted as a conduction mechanism of space-charge limited current and Schottky effect near the electric-field strengh of $10^6$ V/cm. When the electric field exceeds further, there is anormalous phenomia similiar to breakdown. From the study of I-V characteristics with the application of step or pulse voltage, we have found that the breakdown voltage shifts to higher one as the step or pulse interval becomes shorter. These results indicate that the breakdown is due to both electrical and thermal effect. To see the infulence of temperature, current was measured as function of temperature with several bias voltages, which are lower than that of breakdown. It shows that the current increases about 3 orders of magnitude near $60{\sim}70^{circ}C$, and remains constant for a while up to $140^{\circ}C$ and then suddenly drops. Arahidic acid was used to cmpare with $C_{22}$-Quinolium(TCNQ) LB films.
When a large peripheral nerve defect occurs, an autologous nerve graft is the most ideal method of recinstruction. But an autologous nerve graft has many limitations due to donor site morbidities. Many previous focused on finding the ideal nerve conduit. Among them, $Gore-Tex^{(R)}$ has several advantages over other conduits. It can be manipulated to a suitable size, does not collapse easily, and it is a semi- permeable material that contain pores. A round shaped nerve can be newly formed because of its smooth inner surface. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the availability of $Gore-Tex^{(R)}$ tube as a nerve conduit at the peripheral nerve defect in the rat sciatic nerve. The 10 mm nerve gap was made in each group. A $Gore-Tex^{(R)}$ tube filled with skeletal muscle was inserted and autologous nerve graft was harvested, respectively. In the experimental group, we placed a 0.5 mm thickness, $30{\mu}m$ pored, 1.8 mm in diameter and 14 mm length tube with skeletal muscle inserted inside. In the control group, the nerve gap was inserted with a rat sciatic nerve. We estimated the results electrophysiologically and histologically to 16 weeks postoperatively. Results in the nerve conduction velocity, total myelinated axon count, myelin sheath thickness and mean nerve fiber diameter, the experimental group was substantially lower than that of the control group, but the statistic difference was not significant (p<0.05). The morphology was very similar in both groups, microscopically. From the above results, We conclude that $Gore-Tex^{(R)}$ qualifies as an ideal nerve conduit. It is suggested that $Gore-Tex^{(R)}$ tube filled with skeletal muscle may, substitute for an autologous nerve graft.
Molecular spintronics has attracted attentions, which combines molecular electronics with the spin degree of freedom in electron transport. Among various molecules as candidates of the molecular spintronics, single molecule magnet (SMM) is one of the most promising material. SMM molecules show a ferromagnetic behavior even as a single molecule and hold the spin information even after the magnetic field is turned off. Here in this report, we show the spin behavior of SMM molecules adsorbed on the Au surface by combining the observation of Kondo peak in the STS and ESR-STM measurement. Kondo resonance state is formed near the Fermi level when degenerated spin state interacts with conduction electrons. ESR-STM detects the Larmor frequency of the spin in the presence of a magnet field. The sample include $MPc_2$ and $M_2Pc_3$ molecules ($M\;=\;Tb^{3+}$, $Dy^{3+}$, and $Y^{3+}$ Pc=phthalocyanine) whose critical temperature as a ferromagnet reaches 40 K. A clear Kondo peak was observed which is originated from an unpaired electron in the ligand of the molecule, which is the first demonstration of the Kondo peak originated from electron observed in the STS measurement. We also observed corresponding peaks in ESR-STM spectra. [1] In addition we found that the Kondo peak intensity shows a clear variation with the conformational change of the molecule; namely the azimuthal rotational angle of the Pc planes. This indicates that the Kondo resonance is correlated with the molecule electronic state. We examined this phenomena by using STM manipulation technique, where pulse bias application can rotate the relative azimuthal angle of the Pc planes. The result indicates that an application of ~1V pulse to the bias voltage can rotate the Pc plane and the Kondo peaks shows a clear variation in intensity by the molecule's conformational change.
We demonstrate the hybrid polymer-quantum dot based multi-functional device (Organic bistable devices, Light-emitting diode, and Photovoltaic cell) with a single active-layer structure consisting of CdSe/ZnS semiconductor quantum-dots (QDs) dispersed in a poly N-vinylcarbazole (PVK) and 1,3,5-tirs- (N-phenylbenzimidazol-2-yl) benzene (TPBi) fabricated on indium-tin-oxide (ITO)/glass substrate by using a simple spin coating technique. The multi-functionality of the device as Organic bistable device (OBD), Light Emitting Diode (LED), and Photovoltaic cell can be successfully achieved by adding an electron transport layer (ETL) TPBi to OBD for attaining the functions of LED and Photovoltaic cell in which the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) level of TPBi is positioned at the energy level between the conduction band of CdSe/ZnS and LiF/Al electrode (band-gap engineering). Through transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study, the active layer of the device has a p-i-n structure of a consolidated core-shell structure in which semiconductor QDs are uniformly and isotropically adsorbed on the surface of a p-type polymer core and the n-type small molecular organic materials surround the semiconductor QDs.
The heating unit of direct heating method manufactured as the plasma spray coating of $TiO_2/NiCr$ conductive heating material on the surface of heating unit in order to improve the disadvantages of indirect heating method. $TiO_2$ and NiCr (80wt.%Ni-20wt.%Cr) that had the properties of conduction and heating was chosen for the conductive heating material. The compositions of the composite powders were studied $TiO_2-30wt.%NiCr\;and\;TiO_2-10wt.%NiCr$. As the heating temperature was increased, the hardness of heating layer was increased because of the fine microstructure and the decrease of porosity. The adhesion strength was decreased for coarsening and connection of voids in the insulation layer, and the electrical resistivity of heating layer was increased for fine crack formation and growth. In this study, the best efficient sprayed coatings with heating unit was concluded as the plasma sprayed $TiO_2-10wt.%NiCr$ coatings that was heat treated at $300^{\circ}C$.
Titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) is a promising dielectric material in the semiconductor industry for its high dielectric constant. However, for utilization on Si substrate, $TiO_2$ film meets with a difficulty due to the large leakage currents caused by its small conduction band energy offset from Si substrate. In this study, we propose an in-situ plasma oxidation process in plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PE-ALD) system to form an oxide barrier layer which can reduce the leakage currents from Si substrate to $TiO_2$ film. $TiO_2$ film depositions were followed by the plasma oxidation process using tetrakis(dimethylamino)titanium (TDMAT) as a Ti precursor. In our result, $SiO_2$ layer was successfully introduced by the plasma oxidation process and was used as a barrier layer between the Si substrate and $TiO_2$ film. Metal-oxide-semiconductor ($TiN/TiO_2/P-type$ Si substrate) capacitor with plasma oxidation barrier layer showed improved C-V and I-V characteristics compared to that without the plasma oxidation barrier layer.
