Effects of Al and Cr alloying elements on the corrosion behavior of Fe-Al-Cr alloy system was investigated using potentiodynamic and cyclic potentiodynamic polarization tests(CPPT) in the $H_2SO_4$ and HCI solutions. The corrosion morphologies in Fe-Al-Cr alloy were analysed by utilizing scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and EDX. It was found that the corrosion potential of Fe-20Cr-20Al was highest whereas the critical anodic current density and passive current density were lower than that of the other alloys in 0.1 M $H_2SO_4$ solution. The second anodic peak at 1000 mV disappeared in the case of alloys containing high Al and low Cr contents. Pitting potential increased with increasing Cr content and repassivation potential decreased with decreasing Al content in 0.1 M HCI solution. Fe-Al-Cr alloy containing high Al and Cr contents showed remarkably improved pitting resistance against $Cl^-$ attack from pit morphologies.

The electrolytic boronizing on carbon steels in the mixture of $Na_2B_4O_7$ and NaCl was conducted at 750~$950^{\circ}C$ for 1~6 hours under 0.5A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ current density. The micorostructrure and microheredness of boronized layer was also studien. The effect of the additive such as $CaCl_2$ or NaOH on the formation of boronized layer was also investigated. The boronized layer were composed of two sublayers, i.e., FeB and $Fe_2B$ , which have tooth structure. the average layer thinknesses of the low carbon steel and SM45C boronized at $900^{\circ}C$ for 4hours were 153 and 138 $\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively. The thickness of the twosublayers was significantly increased with increasing boronizing temperature. To obtain a single $Fe_2B$ layer without FeB sublayer, the boronized materials ware homegenized at $950^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours. It was fount that the single layer with a microhardness Hv$\thickapprox$ 1120 -1250 was formed. The calculated activation energies for formation of boronized layer on the low carbon steel and SM45C were 18.7 and 12.6 Kcal/mol, respectively.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the electromyographic (EMG) activity of the abdominal muscles and to compare the activity ratios of the bilateral rectus abdominis (RA) to oblique abdominal muscles during shoulder abduction in opposite directions with single leg raising (SLR) performed in the supine position on a foam roller. Methods: Fifteen healthy subjects were recruited to the study. Each subject lay on the foam roller and performed left single leg raising with right or left shoulder $90^{\circ}$ abduction (Abd); performed in a random order. Surface EMG recordings of selected abdominal muscles (i.e., the RA, external oblique abdominis [EO], internal oblique abdominis [IO], and transverse abdominis [TrA]) were normalized to maximum voluntary isometric contraction. EO/RA and IO and TrA/RA ratios were determined with surface EMG. Data were analyzed by Independent t-test. The statistical significance level was p<0.05. Results: The results were as follows: (1) the right RA, left EO, and right IO and TrA muscle activities increased significantly at the left SLR with left Abd compared to the left SLR with right Abd (p<0.05); and (2) the ratio of right EO/RA activity increased significantly at the left SLR with right Abd compared to left Abd (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that left SLR with left Abd on a foam roller is an appropriate exercise for activation of specific oblique abdominal muscles.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the lumbar erector spinea and rectus abdominis activations, according to the different gait velocities in young healthy adults. Methods: We recruited 6 young male and 10 young female (mean age=21.43 years; range 19~23) in this study. We used a wireless surface electromyogram (Telemyo 2400T G2, Noraxon, USA) and a treadmill unit for the experiment. EMG activity from the lumbar erector spinea, and rectus abdominis of the dominant side was record with surface electrodes. On different day, all subjects gaited on 2.7 km/h, 4.5 km/h, and 6.3 km/h of speed in random order. They gaited at the same velocity, three times, on the treadmill unit. To reduce fatigue, sufficient rests were given between the measurements. Results: As the gait speed increased, lumbar erector spinea and rectus abdominis activations were significantly increased (p<0.05). Conclusion: In the current study, we found lumbar erector spinea and rectus abdominis activations were changed, according to the gait velocity. We suggested that rehabilitation intervention should be focused on the exercise velocity for the patients with problem of the trunk control.

The hull of a fast sailing aluminium ship are generally prone to erosion owing to the impact of seawater. At this time, synergistic effects of the erosion and the corrosion by aggressive ions such as chlorides tend to aggravate the damage. There have been various attempts, including selection of erosion-resistant materials, cathodic protection and addition of corrosion inhibitors, to overcome damage by erosion or corrosion under marine environments. These approaches, however, have limits on identifying the damage mechanism clearly, because they depend on analogical interpretation by correlating two damage behaviors after the individual studies are assessed. In this research, it was devised a hybrid testing apparatus that integrates electrochemical corrosion test and cavitation test, and thus the erosion-corrosion behavior by cavitation was investigated more reliably. As a result, the slightest damage was observed at the potentials between -1.6 V and -1.5 V. This is considered to be due to a reflection or counterbalancing effect caused by collision of the cavitation cavities and the hydrogen gas formed by activation polarization.

The importance of the biomass-based activated carbon as an adsorbent has been reviewed with emphasizing on the application in the fields of energy storage and environmental related problems. It is clear from the literature survey that beside surface area and pore volume, surface chemistry also plays important role in determining their usage in various field. The capacities of biomass-based activated carbon can be increased depending upon the choice of the biomass used and the pathway taken for their activation and hence they can be tailored for various applications. Accordingly, this review summarizes the role of biomass based activated carbon in different applications.

The photoluminescence (PT) properties of Al-doped ZnO thin films grown by the sol-gel dip-coating method have been investigated. At 12 K, nine distinct PL peaks were observed at 2.037, 2.592, 2.832, 3.027, 3.177, 3.216, 3.260, 3.303, and 3.354 eV. The deep-level emissions (2.037, 2.592, 2.832, and 3.027 eV) were attributed to native defects. The near-band-edge (NBE) emission peaks at 3.354, 3.303, 3.260, 3.216, and 3.177 eV were attributed to the emission of the neutral-donor-bound excitons (D0X), two-electron satellite (TES), free-to-neutral-acceptors (e,A0), donor-acceptor pairs (DAP), and second-order longitudinal optical (2LO) phonon replicas of the TES (TES-2LO), respectively. According to Haynes' empirical rule, we calculated the energy of a free exciton (FX) to be 3.374 eV. The thermal activation energy for D0X in the nanocrystalline ZnO thin film was found to be ~25 meV, corresponding to the thermal dissociation energy required for D0X transitions.
Crushed peach stone shells were impregnated with $H_3PO_4$ of increasing concentrations (30-70%) followed by heat treatment at 773 K for 3 h. Produced carbons (ACs) were characterized by $N_2$ adsorption at 77 K using the BET-equation and the ${\alpha}$-method. High surface area microporous ACs were obtained, with enhanced internal pore volume, as function of % $H_3PO_4$. Adsorption isotherms from aqueous solution were determined for methylene blue (MB) and p-nitrophenol (PNP), as representatives for dye and phenolics pollutant molecules. Application of the Langmuir model proved the high limiting capacity towards both solute molecules, MB was uptaken in increasing amounts as function of $H_3PO_4$ concentration and generated porosity. High removal of PNP was almost the same irrespective of porosity characteristics. Competitive adsorption of $H_2O$ molecules on the hydrophilic carbon surface seems to partially reduce the available area to the PNP molecules. Application of the pseudo-second order law described well the fast adsorption (${\leq}$ 120 min) at two initial dye concentrations.
RuO2 thin film has reasonably good conductivity and stiffness and it is thought to substitute for the cantilever beam made up of Pt and Si3N4 double layers in microactuators. Therefore, anisotopic Si etching was performed using RuO2 thin film as a mask layer in 25 wt. % TMAH water solution. In the etching temperature ranging from 6$0^{\circ}C$ to 75$^{\circ}C$, the etch rates of all the crystallographic directions increased linearly as the etching temperature increased. The etch rate ratio(selectivity) of [111]/[100] which varied from 0.08 to 0.14, was not sensitive to temperature. The activation energies for [110] direction, [100] direction and [111] direction were 0.50, 0.66 and 1.04eV, respectively. RuO2 cantilever beam with a clean surface was formed at the etching temperatures of 6$0^{\circ}C$ and $65^{\circ}C$. But the damages due to formation of pin holes on RuO2 surface were observed beyond 7$0^{\circ}C$. The tensile stress of RuO2 thin films caused the cantilever bending upward. As a result, it was demonstrated that the formation of conducting oxide RuO2 cantilever beam which can replace the role of an electrode and supporting layer could be possible by TMAH solution.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to compare the effects of different methods of pelvic control on abdominal muscle activity and lumbopelvic rotation angle during active straight leg raising (ASLR) in patients with chronic back pain. Methods: The study participants were patients with low back pain (n = 30). They were instructed to perform ASLR with pelvic control, ASLR with pelvic belt, and ASLR only. Surface electromyography data were collected from the ipsilateral rectus femoris (IRF), ipsilateral internal oblique (IIO), contralateral external oblique (CEO), and ipsilateral rectus abdominal (IRA) muscles, and lumbopelvic rotation angle was measured using a motion analysis device. Results: Activation of all abdominal muscles was greater in the ASLR with pelvic control group than in the ASLR with pelvic belt and ASLR groups. The lumbopelvic rotation angle was lower in the ASLR with pelvic control group than in the other two groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that ALSR with pelvic control is an effective means of increasing abdominal muscle activity and reducing unwanted lumbopelvic rotation in patients with chronic low back pain. Controlling the pelvis using the opposite leg is an effective form of ASLR exercise for patients with chronic low back pain.
