  • In order to analysis the degradation process of epoxy/glass fiber for outdoor condition, FRP laminate was exposed to high temperature and water. Then the degradation process was evaluated by comparing contact angle, surface potential decay, and surface resistivity. For the change of wettability, the contact angle of thermal-treated specimen with the high temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ increased. But that of water-treated specimen decreased. The characteristic of surface potential decay shows the tendency of the remarkable decrease on water-treated specimens, but no difference on thermal-treated specimen compared with untreated one. Also, for the surface resistivity, it shows the same trend compared with the change of contact angle.

  • The longterm trend and interrelationship with depth of temperature and salinity in coastal waters of Korea are studied using coastal oceanographic observation and serial oceanographic data measured by National Fisheries Research and Development Institute. Temperature of coastal waters of Korea except southwestern sea of Korea where cold water appears to increase in summer. In case of temperature offshore, surface temperature of East Sea increases, the reverse, for 50m and 100m decreases. Temperature in South Sea of Korea increases in whole depth and for the Yellow Sea, surface temperature increases, but for 50m decreases. In case of salinity offshore, surface salinity of East Sea decreases, but for 50m increases. Surface salinity in South Sea of Korea decreases, the reverse, form 50m and 100m increases. salinity in the Yellow Sea decrease in whole depth According to the result of interrelationship analysis, for temperature relationship coefficients of 50m and 100m in the East Sea and South Sea of Korea is higher, however, for the Yellow sea the interrelationship between 50m and 100m is lower. In case of salinity, the interrelationship between surface and 50m, and for the South Sea of Korea, between 50m and 100m, and for the Yellow Sea, between surface and 50m is higher.

  • The field measurement and laboratory experiment were conducted to investigate the effect of reducing the surface temperature of the functional aspect of the heat island phenomenon of the permeable block which is made the recycled synthetic resin rather than the existing concrete permeable block. Field measurement was taken for 3 days in consideration of dry condition and wet condition and laboratory experiment was divided into dry condition, rainfall simulating condition, and wetting condition. The variations of temperature and the evaporation rate of water moisture content after experiment were confirmed. As a result of field measurement, it is confirmed that the surface temperature decreases due to the difference in albedo of the pore block surface rather than the cooling effect due to the latent heat of vaporization. The evaporation of moisture in a dry state where drought persisted or a certain level of moisture was not maintained in the surface layer. As a result of laboratory experiment, resin permeable block gives higher surface temperature when it is dry condition than concrete permeable block, but the evaporation of water in the pore is kept constant by capillary force in rainfall simulation condition, and higher temperature reduction rate. As a result of measuring the evaporation rate after laboratory experiment, it is confirmed that the effect of reducing temperature is increased as the evaporation rate of water is higher. Based on these results, correlation formula for evaporation rate and temperature reduction rate is derived.

  • In this paper, the propagation characteristics due to the horizontal water temperature variations in the sea such as thermal fronts is analyzed by the ray theory. Two models for the temperature anomaly layer are chosen. One is a plane type and the other is a cylindrical type. In the plane type, the temperature increases linearly from a isothermal region to 5km with the gradient of about $2^{\circ}C.$/km, and decreases with the same gradient in next 5km. In the cylindrical type, water temperature increases only with the same gradient from a half cylindrical thermal boundary surface. The result showed that the gradient of acoustic rays decreases in the temperature increasing region and vice versa in temperature decreasing region. And, the transmission loss due to the temperature variation was less than O.2dB in the plane type model as well as in the cylindrical one.

  • Liquid droplets of water and argon surrounded by their vapor have been simulated by the milecular dynamics method. To explore the surface phenomena of clusters, each molecule is classified into 'liquid', 'surface', or 'vapor' with respect to the number of neighbor molecules. The contribution of a 'surface' molecule of the water cluster to the far infrared spectrum is almist the same as that of the 'liquid' molecule. Hence, the liquid-vapor interface is viewed as geometrically and temporally varying boundary of 'liquid' molecules with only a single layer of 'surface' molecules that might have different characteristics from the 'liquid' molecules. The time scale of the 'phase change' of each molecule is estimated for the argon cluster by observing the instantancous kinetic and potential energies of each molecule. To compare the feature of clusters with macroscopic droplets, the temperature dependence of the surface tension of the argon cluster is estimated.

  • Submerged implants require secondary surgical uncovering of implants after healing period of 3-6 months. In surgical methods, there are surgical scalpel, tissue punch, electro-surgical, and laser-used uncovering, and so forth The objectives of this study are investigation and assessment of 1) thermal change in clinical application for uncovering of HA-coated implant and pure titanium implant irradiated by pulsed Nd-YAG, $CO_2$, and Er-YAG laser. 2) surface change of cover screws aaer irradiation using laser energy. The temperature of apex & side wall of implants were recorded at 10sec, 20sec, 30sec after 30sec irradiation to implant healing screw; 1) pulsed Nd-YAG laser; 2W, 20pps, contact mode 2) $CO_2$ laser; water-infused & non-water infused state, 2.5-3.5W, contibuous mode, noncontact mode 3) $CO_2$ laser ; non-water infused state, 3W, superpulse, noncontact. mode 4) Er-YAG laser; (1) non-water infused state, 10pps, 60mj, contact mode (2) water-infused state, 10pps, 60mj, 80mj, 101mj, contact mode. According to the results of this study, pulsed Nd-YAG laser is not indicated because of increased thermal change and pitting of metal surface of implant cover screw. By contrast, $CO_2$ laser & Er-YAG laser are presumed to indicate because of narrow range of thermal change & near abscence of thermal damage of metal surface. Dental laser is thought to be much helpful to surgical procedure when it is used as optimal power and time condition considering characteristics and indications of each laser. Further research is needed to verify that these techniques are safe and beneficial to implant success.

  • This study deals with the low temperature ($25^{\circ}C$-$600^{\circ}C$) properties of Kaolin-Phosphate-water systems. Phosphoric acid, mono aluminum phosphate, mono ammonium phosphate, the mixture of phosphoric acid and mono aluminum phosphate, and the mixture of phosphoric acid and mono ammonium phosphate were used to characterize the M.O.R. of the systems with to quantity of phosphates, curing time, and firing temperature. Firing shrinkage, viscosity, surface tension, DTA, TGA, and X-ray diffraction patterns were also measured in order to investigated the factors of strengthening. The results of this study were summarized as follows: 1. The M.O.R. of kaolin-phosphate systems were stronger than that of Kaolin-water system at room temperature or low temperature($25^{\circ}C$-$600^{\circ}C$). Though it was increased according to the longer curing time, the higher temperature, and the more addition of phosphate, the M.O.R. were decreased in the case of 10 wt% phosphate addition in the system of phosphoric acid, mono aluminum phosphate and phosphoric acid-mono aluminum phosphate. 2. When the concentration of Phosphate was at 4 wt%, the M.O.R. of specimen cured at $25^{\circ}C$ and added to the phosphoric acid was strongest among the specimens in added to the others phosphates. Whereas, when the concentration of phosphate was above 6wt%, the M.O.R. of specimen cured at $25^{\circ}C$ and added to the phosphoric acid mono ammonium phosphate system cured at $25^{\circ}C$ was the strongest. 3. The M.O.R. of the specimen heated, in the temperature range of 15$0^{\circ}C$-1$600^{\circ}C$, and added to the mixture of phosphoric acid-mono aluminum phosphate system or phosphoric acid-mono ammonium phosphate system was stronger than that of specimen added to Phosphoric acid, mono-aluminum Phosphate or mono-ammonium phosphate alone. 4. The bonding force of phosphate binders was more closely related to surface tension than viscosity and it tended to be inversely proportional to surface tension. The bonding force after heating treatment seemed to be caused by the change of structure of phosphate according to heating.

  • In the a rapid changes of the semiconductor manufacturing technologies for early 21st century, it may be safely said that a kernel of terms is the size increase of Si wafer and the size decrease of semiconductor devices. As the size of Si wafers increases and semiconductor device is miniaturized, the units of cleaning processes increases. A present cleaning technology is based upon RCA cleaning which consumes vast chemicals and ultra pure water (UPW) and is the high temperature process. Therefore, this technology gives rise to the environmental issue. To resolve this matter, candidates of advanced cleaning processes has been studied. One of them is to apply the electrolyzed water. In this work, Compared with surface on Si wafer with electrolyzed water cleaning and various chemicals cleaning, and analyzed Si wafer surface condition treated with elecoolyzed water by cleaning temperature and cleaning time. Especially. concentrate upon the contact angle. finally, contact angle on surface treated with cathode water cleaning is 17.28, and anode water cleaning is 34.1.

  • The experiment on thermal characteristics of on-dol systems were carried out to apply to New Han-ok's heating system. Change of surface temperature varied with heating times, distribution of surface temperature, radiation property were surveid on four on-dol system in laboratory conditions. Followings are results. 1) "Hwang-to unit" was most favorable condition of the distribution of floor surface temperature. And the results from reaching time to thermal comfort temperature of on-dol system showed that "Hwang-to unit" was the most favorable to continuance of floor temperature. 2) There were a little difference in surface floor radiations of $30^{\circ}C$ for three wet on dol-systems. 3) It was suggested that "Hwang-to unit" is the most appropriate to floor heating system of new han-ok considering eco-friendship and continuance of floor temperature in intermittent heating condition.

  • A remarkable sea surface cooling (SSC) event was observed in the eastern sea of Korean peninsula based on new generation sea surface temperature (NGSST) satellite images in September 2005, when typhoon Nabi passed over the East Sea. The degree of SSC ranged from $1^{\circ}C\;to\;4^{\circ}C$, and its maximum was observed in the southeastern sea area. Daily variations in sea surface temperature at a longitudinal line $(35^{\circ}-41^{\circ}N,\;132^{\circ}E)$, derived from satellite data for September 1-13, 2005, showed that the SSC lasted about 3 days after the typhoon passed in the south of $39^{\circ}N$, whereas it was unclear in the north of$39^{\circ}N$. Water temperature measured by a mooring buoy suggested that the SSC was caused mainly by a vertical mixing of the water column driven by the typhoon, rather than by coastal upwelling.
