An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the effects of the free stream turbulence intensity and Reynolds number on the heat transfer and flow characteristics In the linear turbine cascade. Profiles of the time-averaged velocity, turbulence intensity, and Reynolds stress were measured in the turbine cascade passage. The static pressure and heat transfer distributions on the blade suction and pressure surfaces were also measured. The experiments were made for the Reynolds number based on the chord length, Rec = $2.2{\times}10^4$ to $1.1{\times}10^5$ and the free stream turbulence intensity, $FSTI_1$ = 0.6% to 9.1 %. The uniform heat flux boundary condition on the blade surface was created using the gold film Intrex and the surface temperature was measured by liquid crystal, while hot wire probes were used for the flow measurements. The results show that the free stream turbulence promotes the boundary layer development and delays the flow separation point on the suction surface. It was found that the boundary layer flows on the suction surface for all Reynolds numbers tested with $FSTI_1$ = 0.6% are laminar. It was also found that the heat transfer coefficient on the blade surface increases as the free stream turbulence intensity increases and the flow separation point moves downstream with an increasing Reynolds number. The results of skin friction coefficients are in good agreement with the heat transfer results in that for $FSTI_1{\geq}2.6%$, the turbulent boundary layer separation occurs.

Modified Vainshtok weight function method is developed. The thermal shock stress intensity factors for elliptical surface cracks existed in the thin and thick walled cylinders are determined. The present results are compared with previous solutions and shown to be good agreement with them.
For the purpose of this study, the characteristics of surface flow through the survey of rainfall intensity and degree of slope on fire sites by using rainfall simulator was examined and analysed. And also the relationship between the amount of surface flow and rainfall intensity, degree of slope and elapsed year after forest fire occurrence influencing on the surface flow were analysed. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The amount of surface flow by year of occurrence of forest fire was increased 2,2 to 3,2 times as rainfall intensity was increased by 30 mm/hr, and 1.5 to 1.9 times as degree of slope was increased by $10^{\circ}$, 2, Even though ground vegetation in forest fire sites was recovered more than 80%, the amount of surface flow in initial rainfall was relatively much and it seemed that vegetation didn't play substantial roles in reducing runoff. 3, The amount of surface flow by rainfall intensity and degree of slope in accordance with elapsed years after forest fire was reduced 22,3% to 41,8% in three years after fire as compared to the first year of fire occurrence. The amount of surface flow were significantly differentiated by rainfall intensity and degree of slope in the first year of fire occurrence and the difference were gradually reduced afterwards. 4. In the analysis on influences of each factors on the amount of surface flow on forest fire sites, the amount of surface flow was significant differences in major impacts of each rainfall intensity, degree of slope and elapsed year after fire and interaction of rainfall intensity ${\times}$ degree of slope and rainfall intensity ${\times}$ elapsed year after fire, but no differences were observed in interaction of degree of slope ${\times}$ elapsed year after tire and rainfall intensity ${\times}$ degree of slope ${\times}$ elapsed year after tire. Rainfall intensity was the most affecting factor on the amount of surface flow and followed by degree of slope and elapsed year after fire.
This paper presents a method of estimating 3-D surface geometrical features that are necessary for 3-D object recognition and image interpretation. The features, such as surface needle maps and curvatures, are computed from range or intensity images. In general, the range and intensity images are prone to noises, and hence the features computed by differentiation calculi on such a noisy image are hardly applicable to industrial recognition tasks. In our approach, we try to obtain a more accurate estimate of the features by using a least-squares minimization procedure subject to local curvature consistency constraints. The algorithm is robust with respect to noises and is completely independent of the viewpoint at which the image is taken. The performance of the ajgoritlim is evaluated using both synthetic data and real intensity images.
In this paper, the analysis of the behavior of surface cracks in finite-thickness plates repaired with a Boron/Epoxy composite patch is investigated using three-dimensional finite element methods. The stress intensity factor at the crack-front was used as the fracture criteria. Using the Ansys Parametric Design Language (APDL), the stress intensities at the internal and external positions of repaired surface crack were compared. The effects of the mechanical and geometrical properties of the adhesive layer and the composite patch on the variation of the stress intensity factor at the crack-front were examined.

Fatigue surface crack growth was studied in 7075-T651 aluminum alloy plates subjected largely to bending loads. The surface crack length and its depth were measurement by the unloading elastic compliance method. The surface crack growth rate dc/dN, on the surface and da/dN, in the depth direction were obtained by the secant method. The stress intensity factor range .DELTA.K was computed by means of Newman and Raju equation. The aspect ratio a/c was presented in form of a/c=0.815-0.853(a/T). The effect of the stress ratio on the stable surface crack growth rates under increasing .DELTA.T is larger in lower .DELTA.K, while the relation between dc/dN, da/dN and the effective stress intensity factor range .DELTA.K$_{eff}$ is weakly dependent on the stress ratio.o.

The acoustic intensity in the very near field of a vibrating surface reveals information about the location of sound sources and sinks. A system model of tennis racket was developed from simultaneous measurement of excitation force, surface vibration and the near field sound pressure. The characteristics of structural dynamics were obtained by standard experimental modal analysis techniques while the sound radiation characteristics were determined by estimating the acoustic intensity. In this paper, the information about vibration behviour was obtained by acoustic intensity method and some, experiments for verification were carried out. Close correlation was found between experimentally determined acoustic intensity and vibration mode patterns of the tennis racket.

It is known that fractal theory has recently been used as a useful in the characterization of surface texture and the understanding of tribological phenomena such as friction wear and lubrication The fractal based method for describing the rubbed surface texture has aroused great interest In this paper the fractal descriptors was applied to rubbed surface of hydraulic driving material with image processing system in order to describe morphology of the rubbed surface The results showed that the fractal dimension can be determined by sum of intensity difference of surface pixel. The two step size to get fractal dimension is similar to surface roughness Ra. Fractal dimensions of the rubbed surfaces increase with an increase of applied load Morphology of the rubbed surface driving in lubricant can be effectively obtained by fractal dimensions.

The surface morphology of oil-lubricated surface for hydraulic piston motor is believed to be extremely effective in contact mechanics. adhesion, friction and wear. In order to describe morphology of various rubbed surface on driving condition, the wear test was carried out under different experimental conditions in oil-lubricated system. And fractal descriptors was applied to rubbed surface of hydraulic driving material with image processing system. These descriptors to analyze surface structure are fractal dimension. Surface fractal dimension can be determined by sum of intensity difference of surface pixel. Morphology of rubbed surface can be effectively obtained by fractal dimensions.

The epitaxial growth of Ge on the clean and surfactant(Sn) adsorbed surface of Ge(111) was studied by the intensity oscillation of a RHEED specular spot. In the case of epitaxial growth without the adsorbed surfactant, the RHEED intensity oscillation was stable and periodic up to 24ML at the substrate temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. Therefore the optimum temperature for the epitaxial growth of Ge on clean Ge(111) seems to be $200^{\circ}C$. However, in the case of epitaxial growth with the adsorbed surfactant, the irregular oscillations are observed in the early stage of the growth. The RHEED intensity oscillation was very stable and periodic up to 38ML, and the $d2{\times}2$ structure was not charged with continued adsorption of Ge at the substrate temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. These results may be explained by the fact that the diffusion length of Ge atoms is increased by decreasing the activation energy of the Ge surface diffusion, resulted by segregation of Sn toward the growing surface. From the desorption process, the desorption energy of Sn in Ge $\sqrt{5}{\times}\sqrt{5}$ structure is observed to be 3.28eV.
