  • With the trend of large-sized ship in Korea, recently several hundreds of thousands of U-bolts for a year have been used as a pipe fastener In this paper, we have evaluated the strength for present U-bolt structure by pipe supporting conditions(deck, ceiling and wall mounting type) For this purpose, the equivalent and bending stresses have been calculated by linear elastic analysis using the finite element program ABAQUS. At the same time, a variety of load conditions such as design pressure, weight effect and acceleration are also considered.

  • This study was aimed to analyze the stress distribution of implant and supporting tissue in single tooth implant restoration using Branemark $system^{(R)}$(Nobel Biocare, Gothenberg, Sweden) and Bicon system(Bicon Dental Implants, Boston, MA). Two dimensional finite element analysis model was made at mandibular first premolar area As a crown materials porcelain, ceromer, ADA type III gold alloy were used. Tests have been performed at 25Kgf vertical load on central fossa of crown portion and at 10Kgf load with $45^{\circ}$ lateral direction on cusp inclination. The displacement and stresses of implant and supporting structures were analyzed to investigate the influence of the crown material and the type of implant systems by finite element analysis. The results were obtained as follows : 1. The type of crown material influenced the stress distribution of superstructure, but did not influence that of the supporting alveolar bone. 2. The stress distribution of ceromer and type III gold alloy and porcelain is similar. 3. Stress under lateral load was about twice higher than that of vertical load in all occlusal restorative materials. 4. In Bicon system, stress concentration is similar in supporting bone area but CerOne system generated about 1.5times eater stress more in superstructure material. 5. In Branemark models, if severe occlusal overload is loaded in superstvucture. gold screw or abutment will be fractured or loosened to buffer the occlusal overload but in Bicon models such buffering effect is not expected, so in Bicon model, load can be concentrated in alveolar bone area.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of two different oblique mechanical loading to occlusal surfaces of cement retained implant on the stress distributions in surrounding bone, using 3-dimensional finite element method. Methods: A 3-dimensional finite element model of a cement retained implant composed of three unit implants, simplified ceramic crown and supporting bone was developed according to the design of ement retained implant for this study. two kinds of surface distributed oblique loads(100 N) are applied to following occlusal surfaces in the single crowns; 1) oblique load on 2 occlusal points(50N for each buccal cusp, 2 buccal cusps exist), 2) oblique load on 4 occlusal points(25N for each buccal and lingual cusp, 2 buccal and 2 lingual cusps exist) Results: The results of the comparison of the stress distributions on surrounding bone are as follows. In the condition of oblique load on 2 occlusal points, VMS was 741.3 Mpa in the M1(Ø$4.0{\times}13mm$) model and 251.2 Mpa in the M2(Ø$5.0{\times}13mm$) model. It means the stress on the supporting bone is decreased. The results of oblique load on 4 occlusal points are similar to this one. Conclusion: Increasing the diameter of the implant fixture is helpful to distribute the stress on the supporting bone. Also, to obtain the structural stability of the supporting bone, it is effective to distribute the load evenly on the occlusal surface of crown in producing single crown implant.

  • Renewable and unutilized energy (biogas power generation, wind power, solar, small hydro-power, sewage heat source, etc.) seems to be suitable to install for the sewage treatment facilities. There are 357 sewage treatment plants in 2007. 17 plants among these have been operating for self-supporting energy by using solar power, small hydro-power and biogas in 2008. Newly built sewage treatment plant of 96,000 $m^3$/day for a newtown is expected to get up to energy consumption of 10 GWh/yr. If solar energy, small hydro-power and biogas-equipments were applied to the new treatment plant, self-supporting energy of the new sewage treatment plant will get up to 56.1%. As a results, about 2,379ton $CO_2$/yr $CO_2$ emission reduction can be expected by using renewable energy. These efforts for self-supporting energy will lead sewage treatment plant to new energy recycle center.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of three different oblique mechanical loading to occlusal surfaces of posterior implant partial dentures on the stress distributions in surrounding bone, using 3-dimensional finite element method. A 3-dimensional finite element model of a posterior implant partial dentures composed of three unit implants, simplified 3 gold alloy crown and supporting bone was developed according to the design of AVANA self tapping implant for this study. Three kinds of surface distributed oblique loads(300 N) are applied to following occlusal surfaces in the three crowns; 1) All occlusal surfaces in the three crown(load of 300 N was shared to three crown), 2) Occlusal surface of centered crown (load of 300 N was applied to a centered crown), 3) Occlusal surface of proximal crown(load of 300 N was applied to a distal proximal crown). In the results, 141 MPa of maximum von Mises stress was calculated at third loading condition and 98 MPa of minimum von Mises stress was calculated at first loading condition. From the results, location and type of occlusive loading conditions are important for the safety of supporting bone.
