  • This study comprehensively reviews the research conducted until recently in order to derive realistic alternatives in consideration of local industries. The case analysis was performed on a competitive port of similar size, and strategies and revitalization measures were suggested in consideration of the conditions of Gunsan Port. Literature review focused on papers and major reports. The case of similar size were analyzed for Daesan port, Boryeong port, and Mokpo port. In order to find strategies to revitalize the regional port logistics industry behind Gunsan Port, the recent opportunities and threat factors of Gunsan Port were derived. In order to foster the regional port logistics industry with Gunsan Port as its main base, this study proposes a three-step development strategy. It is necessary to increase the effectiveness of the public-private joint port sales and maintain the incentive system, but use it as a means to strengthen the competitiveness of Gunsan Port. Since the possibility of opening various routes is not high due to the conditions of Gunsan Port, various business models can be devised to link the currently opened routes. Start-up in the logistics field can stand out if they provide predictive data or provide consulting services by securing and analyzing logistics data, not directly providing logistics services.

  • With the advent of COVID-19, the world economy has undergone enormous losses and unprecedented crises. Moreover, this pandemic has put a significant effect on all business organizations, comprising the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector. MSMEs have been continuing to develop business strategies and are eager to compete in the market. The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the full focus of MSMEs from 'business growth' to 'business survival' worldwide. E-commerce readiness plays a crucial role in a time of uncertainty and crisis during COVID-19 and affects the durability and sustainability of the business. This study attempts to study the readiness of online business and "E-commerce" adoption of MSMEs and its contribution to economic growth by utilizing both qualitative and quantitative techniques in the case of India. We use content analysis to determine the readiness of online business and Ecommerce in the post COVID-19 period. The result highlights the specific issues of this sector such as the shortage of resources and disruptions in the supply chain & logistical issues during the COVID-19 pandemic. Qualitative analysis discloses that almost half of the respondents adopt online platforms along with additional challenges to sustain their business during the pandemic. This study utilizes annual time series data for the period from 1973-74 to 2017-18 to understand the long-run relationship between India's GDP and MSMEs units. By utilizing the co-integration technique, this study reveals that there is a long-run relationship between MSME units and the economic growth of this country.

  • This study aims to establish the relationship between the Green Marketing Orientation (GMO) variables and the performance of Green Small and Medium Enterprises (GSMEs) across the building and energy sectors in Malaysia, using customer satisfaction as a means of performance measurement. The GMO variables examined include Greening the Process (GTP), Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM), Green Strategic Policy Initiatives (GSPI), Proactive Energy Conservation (PEC) and Green Promotion (GP). The items used to measure these variables were extracted from literature and adapted to the context of the variables based on feedback from Focus Group Discussions and Expert Opinion sessions. This study employs a survey sample of 300 respondents but only 238 completed questionnaires were returned. The results reveal that GTP, GSCM and PEC have a positive impact on Customer Satisfaction but not GSPI and GP. The findings suggest that owners or managers of GSMEs should focus on maintaining and improving GTP, GSCM and PEC in order to create greater satisfaction among their customers. The significance of this study is that it enables the creation of a framework that enables GSMEs to design a pathway towards achieving a cleaner production of goods and services in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

  • It is now widely recognized that new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have been changing the way tv which firms conduct their businesses. Examples are the application of enterprise resources planning (ERP) and business process reengineering (BPR) to increase the efficiency of internal resources management, adoption of Business-to-Business e-commerce (B2B e-com) to integrate supply chain, and invention of new marketing channels such as Business-to-Customer (B2C) e-com. These new ways of conducting businesses are believed to help firms to reduce transaction costs and increase productivity. As a result, new ICTs have played an important role in recent growth of many small firms into multi-functional and multi-product corporations and in their spatial expansion towards internationalization as well. This paper takes Haier in China as a case to study the role of new ICTs in the growth of firms and reveal how the new technologies have facilitated the expansion of Haier into a transnational corporation (TNC) by examining the internationalization process of the firm in relation to its adoption of new ICTs in the period from 1990 to 2002. The study reveals that the adoption of new Ins has helped Haier to integrate its functional units located in dozens of places across the world, which is essential to the internationalization of a firm, and to link closely together its worldwide suppliers and customers to achieve just-in-time (JIT) production and delivery. As such, the authors of the paper argue that, without the facilitation of new ICTS, Haier could not have developed into a TNC in less than ten years. It is now widely recognized that new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have been changing the way tv which firms conduct their businesses. • Focal companies (hereafter called buyers) adopt outsourcing practices from a supply chain management strategy to be competitive. Buyers face the bridge transfer after outsourcing contracts, and the monitoring practices would be the only control mechanism left to prevent losing control over the suppliers. This study suggests the set of monitoring practices (i.e., capability, activity and outcome monitoring) as the independent variables to enhance the buyer-supplier collaboration and supplier's performance. In addition the buyer's efforts of monitoring are assumed to influence the buyer's shop floor productivity mediated by the supplier's performance and buyer-supplier collaboration. The results showed that the monitoring practices are meaningful antecedents to the supplier's performance and buyer-supplier collaboration, which fully mediates between the monitoring practices and buyer's shop floor productivity. The mediating role of the buyer-supplier collaboration between activity monitoring and shop floor productive has been rejected, because the negative effect of activity monitoring on buyer-supplier collaboration conflicts with the positive impact of buyer-supplier collaboration on shop floor productive. The theoretical contribution and managerial implications with limitations have been discussed.

  • Due to the constant changes of companies' global networks, the expansion of global e-commerce as well as the market-oriented global supply chain management, global enterprises are strategically selecting and entering into viable countries able to become global footholds. Therefore, this study aims to scrutinize the trend of changes in the global networks of Korean companies by analyzing the current overseas countries over the past decade. From the analysis, it has been found that there is a significant difference in the priorities of targeting countries among shipping, manufacturing and logistics companies. Logistics companies preferred to enter Germany first while they attached to a lower priority to Singapore. Manufacturing companies had a lower priority to advance to India, while they preferred to advance to Mexico; however, shipping companies were analyzed to prefer to enter the US. In addition, all of these companies identified the importance of securing volume and network by entering overseas markets to achieve economies of scale and scope and to maintain global competitiveness. Joint overseas expansion of manufacturers with shipping and logistics companies can be recommended to facilitate the entry and thus, enhance global competitiveness and service capabilities and also secure new growth engines.
