This study investigates the combustion characteristics of methane-hydrogen-air premixture in a constant volume combustion chamber. Primary factors of the combustion characteristics of methane- hydrogen-air premixture are the equivalence ratio and hydrogen supplement rate. In the case of $\phi$= 1.1, maximum combustion pressure and heat release rate have peaks, and they increase as the initial pressure and hydrogen supplement rate increase. The total burning time is also the shortest at the $\phi$= 1.1, it shorten by lowering the initial pressure and by increasing the hydrogen supplement rate. The maximum flame temperature is shown at the $\phi$= 1.0, and increasing the initial pressure and hydrogen supplement rate, it increases. The concentration of NO reveals the highest value at the $\phi$= 0.9, and it increases by increasing the initial pressure and hydrogen supplement rate. It is also found that the limit of lean inflammability of methane-hydrogen-air premixture is greatly widened by increasing the hydrogen supplement rate.
In oriental medicine Acupuncture treatment is one of the most valuable therapy. Through the acupuncture humen have been healed many diseaes with his own natural therapic power, without medicine or surgery ect. But there have not formed a clear definition on the supplement & eradication(補瀉). I recognised the difference between the original meaning of Young-su(迎隨) mentioned in $\ll$Whang-Je-Nae-Kyung(黃帝內經)$\gg$ and Young-su-Bo-Sa(迎隨補瀉) that are recently used. The results were summerized as follow; 1. In the $\ll$Whang-Je-Nae-Gyung$\gg$, when they give medical teatment, they have totally used all methods of the supplement & eradication(補瀉). Therefore as now divided into respiration, speed, rotation and close-open supplement & eradication(補瀉) have many problomes. And Young-su(迎隨) did not mean the treatement of supplement and eradication which go with or against the flowing of channel energy(經氣). Young-su(迎隨) is not a simple technique of treatment, but is the totall principle of the supplement and eradication. 2. The direction of channel energy(經氣) connected with the O-su point (五輸穴) is from extremities to the trunk of body, therefore the direction of supplement is to the trunk of body and the direction of eradication is to extermities. 3. In the case of using the treatment which go with or against the flowing of channel energy(經氣), in oder to avoid the confusion of term, it must be defined another term. 4. It is necessary that we must define the procedure of supplement & eradication, and the objective indication that ascertain whether the doctor's purposes are really obtained.
The purpose of this study was to identify benefits sought and use of the cosmetics. The results were as followes ; 1. Most women spent less than 40.000 won monthly, used basic cosmetics most frequently but used functional cosmetics least when they went out. 2. The factors of cosmetics benefits sought were self-confidence, individuality, beauty, saving appearance. and supplement defect. The respondents were segmented into the beauty pursuit, the supplement defect pursuit, the individuality pursuit, and the self-confidence pursuit. 3. The beauty pursuit used all kinds of cosmetics more than other groups, but the supplement defect pursuit used functional cosmetics more. The individuality pursuit used color cosmetics more, but spent cosmetics expenditure least. The self-confidence pursuit used all kinds of cosmetics least and spent cosmetics expenditure least. 4. The beauty pursuit was found among the older, the less educated, and jobless married women. The supplement defect pursuit was found among the late-teenagers. The individuality pursuit was found among married or unmarried working women. and the more educated. The self-confidence pursuit was found among college women. 5. The use of basic cosmitics was affected by cosmetics expenditure. age, supplement defect, and saving appearance. use of color cosmetics was by cosmetics expenditure, supplement defect, age, self-confidence, and individuality, and use of functional cosmetics was by cosmetics expenditure, supplement defect, and age.
Objectives: The purpose of this report is to examine the effect of $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_{43}$ supplement and LIl ${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture for cerebral apoplexy treatment. Methods : I designed to investigate whether $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_{43}$ supplement and $LI_1$${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture affects cerebral hemodynamics [regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF), mean arterial blood pressure(MABP)] in normal rats, and to make manifest whether $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_{43}$ supplement and $LI_1$${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture is mediated by cyclooxygenase or guanylate cyclase. The changes of rCBF and MABP were determinated by laser-doppler flowmetry(LDF). Results : 1. $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_{43}$ supplement and LI1 ${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture increased rCBF significantly, but decreased MABP. These results suggest that $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_{43}$ supplement and $LI_1$${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture increased significantly rCBF by dilating pial arterial diameter(PAD). 2. By pretreatment with indomethacin(1 mg/kg, i.p.), the effect of $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_{43}$ supplement and $LI_1$${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture induced increase of rCBF was significantly inhibited, the decreased MABP by treatment with $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_{43}$ supplement and $LI_1$${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture was increased. 3. By pretreatment with methylene blue($10{\mu}/kg$, i.p.), the increased rCBF by treatment with $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_{43}$ supplement and $LI_1$${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture was decreased conversely, the decreased MABP by treatment with $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_{43}$ supplement and $LI_1$${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture was decreased. and then increased. Conclusion : I suggest that $BL_{66}$${\cdot}$$GB_43$ supplement and $LI_1$${\cdot}$$GB_{44}$ draining in acupuncture has an anti-ischemic effect through the improvement of cerebral hemodynamics.

In the present study, the effect of cysteine and NT or bisphenol A(BP) on in vitro aturation(IVM) of porcine oocytes were examined. COCs was cultured in NCSU-23 medium supplement with 10% FCS which had previously been covered with mineral oil and equilibrated in a humidified atmosphere of 5% $CO_2$ and 95% air at $38^{\circ}C$. The IVM rate of oocytes cultured for 48 hrs in NCSU-23 medium supplement with 0.5~10.0 mM cysteine were $34.0{\pm}3.2%$, $36.0{\pm}3.5%$, $48.0{\pm}3.8%$, $22.0{\pm}3.2%$, respectively. The IVM rate of oocytes cultured in NCSU-23 medium supplement with 0.5~5.0mM NT for 48 hrs were $24.0{\pm}4.2%$, $18.0{\pm}4.9%$, $8.0{\pm}2.2%$, respectively. NT affects oocyte in vitro maturation rate in a dose-dependent. This result were significantly lower than the control group. The IVM rate of oocytes cultured for 48 hrs in NCSU-23 medium supplement with 1.0 mM NT+5.0 mM cysteine($38.0{\pm}4.3%$) were significantly higher than that of NT treatment. The IVM rate of oocytes cultured in NCSU-23 medium supplement with 0.05~5.0 mM BP for 48 hrs were $20.0{\pm}4.7%$, $10.0{\pm}5.3%$, $6.0{\pm}3.2%$, respectively. The IVM rate of oocytes cultured in NCSU-23 medium supplement with BP was significantly lower cultured non supplement of BP ($44.0{\pm}3.5%$). BP affects porcine oocyte maturation rate in a dose-dependent manner. The IVM rate of oocytes cultured for 48 hrs in NCSU-23 medium supplement with 1.0 mM BP+5.0 mM cycteine ($32.0{\pm}3.2%$) were increased than that of BP treatment.
This study is conducted in order to investigate the prevalence of vitamin mineral (VM) supplement use and its related factors among Korean adolescents. Using a cross-sectional study design, information was obtained by questionnaires from adolescents selected by stratified sampling in large, small and middle-size cities, as well as rural areas of the whole country, followed by convenience sampling. The total number of participants in this study was 1,407 adolescents ($15.2{\pm}1.6$ years) attending middle or high schools, chosen from various cities and rural areas in Korea. The prevalence of VM supplement use was 65.5%, and there was no significant difference between the genders. City dwellers took VM supplements more frequently than those adolescents from rural areas (p < 0.01). The VM supplement users tended to have higher family income, parents' academic background, and socioeconomic status, respectively (p < 0.001). The greater part of VM supplement users replied that they acquired their nutritional information from their parents, relatives and friends, while many nonusers replied that they did it from school classes (p < 0.05). Compared to nonusers, VM supplement users had greater 'self concern about health' (p < 0.05), 'parents' concern about child's health, growth, and nutritional intake' (p < 0.001), and 'parents' concern about child's grade point' (p < 0.01). However, there was no significant difference between users and nonusers when it came to 'self perception of body shape' or 'BMI'. In addition, users significantly had greater nutritional beliefs concerning VM supplements than nonusers (p < 0.001). These results showed that VM supplement use has been common among adolescents in Korea, and supplement use of subjects has been related with various factors. Among them, it was shown that especially parents great influence the use of VM supplements by adolescents. Thus, not only education for adolescents, but also that for parents is needed to help adolescents take VM supplements properly.
We developed a dietary supplement using natural herbs and nutrients for the growth and exercise performance improvement. It called 50-22 supplement containing distilled extracts of natural herbs to remove bitterness and the addition of Vitamin B1, B6, Ca and xylitol. We investigated on the effect of 10-22 supplementation on the maximal exercise performance, IGF-1 (insulin like growth factor-1) concentration and antioxidant activity in SD rat model. In result, JR-22 supplement group was better than control group about 10% in exercise performance test and increased about 63% of IGF-1 concentration in blood. In addition, the oxidative damage induced by exercise was reduced by JR-22 supplementation. Therefore, we suggested that 50-22 supplementation enhanced effectively exercise performance and IGF-1 concentration and reduced to oxidative stress in muscles. Also, we analysed biochemical factors in blood for the safety of JR-22 supplement. We known that there is no change of blood lactic acid, ammonia, inorganic phosphorous ion and creatine kinase activity. (Korean J Community Nutrition 8(3) : 349∼355, 2003)

The aim of the present study was to assess the anti-obesity effects of fermented kochujang supplement in C57BL/6J mice. Thirty mice were divided into 3 groups; normal diet control group (ND), high fat diet control group (HD), and high fat diet plus kochujang supplemented group (HDK). Results were as follows: 1. Fennented kochujang supplement in high fat diet decreased body weight and epidydimal and back fat weight compared to non-supplement in HD group. 2. Lipid content and blood glucose level were lower in HDK group than HD group. 3. Fermented kochujang supplement increased mRNA level of lipolytic genes such as acyl-CoA synthetase (ACS), carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1 (CPT-1), and uncoupling proteins-1 (UCP-1) expression, whereas decreased mRNA level of adipogenic genes such as acetyl CoA carboxylase (ACC) expression. These findings suggest that fermented kochujang supplement in high fat diet normalized body weight, epididymal and back fat weight, lipid content, and blood glucose levels through controlling lipid metabolism and provides basic information on the control of obesity.
