  • The following results were obtained, microstructures and tensile properties in arc brazed joints of DP(dual phase) steel using Cu-5.3wt%Sn insert metal was investigated as function of brazing current. 1) The Fusion Zone was composed of ${\alpha}Fe+{\gamma}Cu$ and Cu23Sn2. The reason for the formation of these solid solutions. Despite, Fe & Cu were impossible to solid solution at room temperature. It's melting & reaction to something of insert metal & Base Metal (DP Steel) by Arc. Brazing Process has faster cooling rate then Cast Process, Supersaturated solid solution at room temperature. 2) The increase Hardness of Fusion Zone was directly proportional to the rise of welding current. Because, ${\alpha}Fe+{\gamma}Cu$ phase (higher hardness than the Cu23Sn2.(104.1Hv < 271.9Hv)) Volume fraction was Growth, due to increasing the amount of base metal melting by High current. 3) The results of tensile shear test by Brazing, All specimens happen to fracture in Fusion Zone. On the other hand, when Brazing Current increasing tend to rise tensile load. but it was very small, about 26-30% of the base metal. 4) The result of fracture analysis, The crack initiate at Triple Point for meet to Upper B.M/Under B.M/Fusion Zone. This Crack propagated to Fusion zone. So ruptured by tensile strength. The Reason to in the fusion zone fracture, Fusion zone by Brazing of hardness (strength) was very lower then the base metal (DP steel). In addition the Fusion Zone's thickness in triple point was thin than the base metal's thickness in triple point.

  • Structural studies have been performed on precipitation hardening found in $L1_2$ ordered ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Ni_3(Al,Ti)$ alloys using transmission electron microscopy. A uniform solid solution of ${\gamma}^{\prime}-L1_2$ ordered phase supersaturated with Ni can be obtained by solution annealing in a suitable temperature range. The ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ phase hardens appreciably by the fine precipitation of disordered ${\gamma}$. The shape of ${\gamma}$ precipitates formed during aging is initially spherical or round-cubic and grow into platelets as aging proceeds. High resolution electron microscopy revealed that the ${\gamma}$ precipitates are perfectly coherent with the matrix ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ as long as the ${\gamma}$-precipitates are plates. The loss of coherency initiates by the introduction of dislocations at the ${\gamma}/{\gamma}^{\prime}$ interface followed by the step formation at the dislocations. The ${\gamma}$ precipitates become globular after the loss of coherency. The strength of ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Ni_3(Al,Ti)$ increases over the temperature range of experiment by the precipitation of fine ${\gamma}$ particles. The peak temperature where a maximum strength was obtained shifted to higher temperature.

  • Ni-W alloys containing 10 to 50wt% W were prepared by electrodeposition. Tungsten content in the alloy increased with current density. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the alloy was crystalline phase when deposited at current densities lower than 50mA/${cm}^2$. Their crystal structure transformed to amorphous at higher current densities. In terms of tungsten content, the crystal -+ amorphous transition occurred at 40-46wt% which was identified by the 3 fold increase in the width of a diffraction peak. The lattice parameter of crystalline phase increased with W upto 40wt% which is higher than the solubility limit of W (about 30wt%) in Ni. Therefore, the alloys are considered to be Ni solid solution supersaturated with W. The amorphous Ni-W alloys were recrystallized by annealing them at temperatures over $400^{\circ}C$. This was evidenced by the appearance a strong [ 11 11 annealing texture. The supersaturated W was precipitated during the annealing at over $800^{\circ}C$. The current-density dependence of W content and crystallinity was utilized to produce alternating layers of crystalline (30wt% W) and amorphous (50wt%) phases which may exhibit unique mechanical and corrosion properties.

  • A transmission electron microscope investigation has been performed on the morphology of dislocations in deformed ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Ni_3(Al,Ti)$ alloys containing fine dispersion of disordered ${\gamma}$ particles. Superlattice dislocations dissociate into fourfold Shockley partial dislocations in a uniform supersaturated solid solution of the ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ phase. Dislocations are attracted into the disordered ${\gamma}$ phase and dissociate further in the particles. At any stage of aging, dislocations cut through the particles and the Orowan bypassing process does not occur even in the over-aged stage of this alloy system. The work necessary to pull the dislocation away from the disordered particles into the ordered matrix should mainly contribute to increase the strength of the ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ phase containing fine dispersion of the disordered ${\gamma}$ phase.

  • A study was conducted to examine the precipitation phenomena of Al-2.1Li-2.9Cu alloy by differential scanning calorimetry and transmission electron microscopy. DSC curves were measured over the temperature range of $25{\sim}550^{\circ}C$ at a heating rate of $2{\sim}20^{\circ}C$/min.. Three heat evolution peaks and three heat absorption peaks were observed in the DSC curve for the as-quenched specimen. From DSC results and TEM analysis, it was proved that the precipitation sequence in the as-quenched specimen is supersaturated solid solution ${\rightarrow}$ GP zone ${\rightarrow}{\delta}^{\prime}{\rightarrow}T_1{\rightarrow}T_2$ and ${\theta}^{\prime}$ was detected in the peak aged specimen at $160^{\circ}C$. The major phase formed at peak hardeness in the aging at $160^{\circ}C$ was ${\delta}^{\prime}$ phase. The activation energies for the formation of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ and $T_1$ phases were 22.3kcal/mole and 24.3kcal/mole, respectively. These lower activation energies than those for diffusion of Cu and Li in Al are ascribed to the quenched-in excess vacancies.

  • SCM415 alloy was implanted with nitrogen ions using plasma source ion implantation (PSII), at a dose range of $1{\times}10^{17}\;to\;6{\times}10^{17}N^{+}cm^{-2}$. Auger electron spectrometry (AES) was used to investigate the depth profile of the implanted layer. Friction and wear tests were carried out on a block-on-ring wear tester. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe the micro-morphology of the worn surface. The results revealed that after being implanted with nitrogen ions, the frictional coefficient of the surface layer decreased, and the wear resistance increased with the nitrogen dose. The tribological mechanism was mainly adhesive, and the adhesive wear tended to become weaker oxidative wear with the increase in the nitrogen dose. The effects were mainly attributed to the formation of a hard nitride precipitate and a supersaturated solid solution of nitrogen in the surface layer.

  • Effects of aging treatment on the microstructural evolution of a rapidly solidified Al-Li-Cu alloy were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). It was found that the precipitation sequence was: supersaturated solid solution ${\alpha}^{\prime}$ ${\rightarrow}$ metastable ${\delta}^{\prime}$ + stable precipitate $T_1$ ${\rightarrow}$ stable precipitates ${\delta}+T_1$. Two exothermic and two endothermic peaks are detected by DSC analysis. The two exothermic and endothermic peaks corresponded to ${\delta}^{\prime}$ and ${\delta}+T_1$ precipitation and dissolution reactions respectively. The enthalpy of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ precipitation decreased with increasing of aging temperature and time until the finishing point of precipitation. The activation energy for precipitation of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ was measured as 80KJ/mol and the energy for dissolution was 93KJ/mol. These values arc higher than those of AI-Li binary alloy. Peak hardness value (Hv 170) was obtamed at $210^{\circ}C$ for 1hr aging treatment which coincided with finishing point of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ precipitation.

  • Structural and mechanical effects of the dynamical precipitation in two copper-base alloys have been investigated over a wide range of deformation temperatures. Basing upon the information gained during the experiment, also some general conclusion may be formulated. A one concerns the nature of dynamic precipitation(DP). Under this term it is commonly understood decomposition of a supersaturated solid solution during plastic straining. The process may, however, proceed in two different ways. It may be a homogeneous one from the point of view of distribution and morphological aspect of particles or it may lead to substantial difference in shape, size and particles distribution. The effect is controlled by the mode of deformation. Hence it seems to be reasonable to distinguish DP during homogeneous deformation from that which takes place in heterogeneously deformed alloy. In the first case the process can be analyzed solely in terms of particle-dislocation-particle interrelation. Much more complex problem we are facing in heterogeneously deforming alloy. Deformation bands and specific arrangement of dislocations in form of pile-ups at grain boundaries generate additional driving force and additional nucleation sites for precipitation. Along with heterogeneous precipitation, there is a homogeneous precipitation in areas between bands of coarse slip which also deform but at much smaller rate. This form of decomposition is responsible for a specially high hardening rate during high temperature straining and for thermally stable product of the decomposition of alloy.

  • When carbon dioxide in a liquid becomes supersaturated, carbon dioxide gas bubbles are generated in the liquid, and they ascend to the surface as they develop further. At this time, the inner wall of the cup with carbon gas attached is known as the entrapped gas cavity (EGS); once an EGS is established, it does not disappear and will continuously create carbon bubbles. This bubbling phenomenon can be activated or suppressed by changing the properties of the solid surface in contact with the carbonated liquid. In this study, the foaming of carbonated liquid is promoted or suppressed by modifying the wettability of the surface. A micro/nano surface structure is formed on the surface of an aluminum cup to produce a superhydrophilic surface, and a superhydrophobic surface similar to a lotus leaf is synthesized via fluorination. Experiment results show that the amount of carbon dioxide bubble generated differs significantly in the first few seconds depending on the surface, and that the amount of gas generated after it enters the stabilization period is the same regardless of the wettability of the cup surface.
