$YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$초전도 단결정 성장 (Crystal Growth of Superconducting $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ Single Crystals)

  • Single crystals of YBa2Cu3O7-x have been grown in BaCuO2 flux at temperature of 125$0^{\circ}C$ and examined using XRD, EDAX and light microscopy. The YBCO crystals were grown in a cavity which was formed by the reduction of CuO and became large by the directional solidification in the crucible. The observed crystal growth habit is square planar with the c-axis normal to the plane. The surface morphology of grown crystals were growth ledges and growth sprial paterns on a (001) face.

  • 용액분무법으로 (100) MgO 단결정 기판위에 YBa2Cu3O7-x 초전도박막을 제조하 였다. YBa2Cu3O7-x 초전도 박막의 Y, Ba, Cu 원자의 상대적인 비는 EDX의 검출 한계내에 서 1 : 2 : 3이었고, 이는 분무 용액속의 금속이온의 비와 같았다. YBa2Cu3O7-x 초전도 박 막의 결정구조는 단일 상의 사방구조였으며, 기판에 수직인 c축의 방향으로 grain이 성장되 었고, 격자상수 c0는 11.678$\AA$였다. 95$0^{\circ}C$의 공기중에서 10분간 열처리한 박막의 Tc-on=100K, Tc-zero=80K, Jc=2.5 $\times$ 104A/cm2였고, 95$0^{\circ}C$의 흐르는 산소분위기에서 10분간 열처리한 박막의 Tc-on=103K, Tc-zero=80K, Jc=1.0 $\times$ 105A/cm2였다. 초전도 박막의 미세구 조, grain 크기와 grain 경계폭은 제조후 열처리(post-annealing) 시간과 가스 분위기에 강 한 영향을 받았다.

  • $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$(Yl23) Superconducting thick films on $Y_2BaCuO_5$(Y211) substrate were Prepared by surface diffusion process between $BaCuO_2$+CuO composite coating powder and a Y2ll substrate. X-ray diffraction shows that the Yl23 layer onto Y2ll substrate is the orthorhombic crystal structure. The specimen heated at $940^{\circ}C$ for 2h showed the maximum $J_c$ fo 500A/$cm^2$. Based on optimal condition, the superconducting fault current limiter(FCL) having a current limiting area 1mm wide and 66mm long was fabricated on Y211 substrate. A typical current limiting waveform was measured. When a voltage of 3V was applied, the fault current with a peak of 15A was limited to about 0.11A.

  • Melt-textured growth of the YBa2Cu3O7-x phase from a supercooled melt created locally aligned, barshaped grains of the orthorhombic 1-2-3 phase. Based on all the observed phenomena, the gross mechanism of the melt-textrued growth of YBa2Cu3O7-x on the (100) plane of MgO was delineated by three basic patterns of reactions. These are : (ⅰ) formation of the aligned 1-2-3 phase and the Y-rich 2-1-1 phase at the bulk region away from the (100) plane of MgO ; (ⅱ) formation of the Cu-richprecipitates at the interfacial region by the selective interface-induced precipitation of the liquid phase ; (ⅲ) condensation reaction of the entrapped Cu-rich vapor with Mg atoms during the initial stage of rapid cooling from 130$0^{\circ}C$ to 98$0^{\circ}C$.

  • The critical current density, electrical conductivity, critical magnetic field, Meissner effect, apparent density, and microstructure of YBa2Cu3O7-x ceramic superconductor prepared by polymeric precursor, while varing calcining and sintering conditions, were investigated. The best superconducting properties could be obtained from the body sintered at 93$0^{\circ}C$ for 10h after calcining at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 10h, which gave 383A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ of critical current density(Jc), 96K of onset temperature(Tonset), 94. 8K of zero temperature (Tzero) 225 Oe of critical magnetic field (Hc1), 72.8% of superconducting volume fraction measured by Meissner effect and 6.28g/㎤ of apparent density.

  • The high-temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O7-x (YBCO) have attached attentions because of a high superconducting transition temperature, low surface resistance, high superconducting critical current density (Jc), and superior superconducting capability under magnetic field. Moreover, the Jc of YBCO superconductors can be enhanced by adding impurities to the YBCO films for vortex-pinning. Understanding and controlling pinning centers are key factors to realize high Jc superconductors. We synthesized vertically-aligned ZnO nanorods on SrTiO3 (STO) substrates by catalyst-free metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), and subsequently, deposited YBCO films on the ZnO nanorods/STO templates using pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The various techniques were used to analyze the structural and interfacial properties of the YBCO/ZnO nanorods/STO hybrid structures. SEM, TEM, and XRD measurements demonstrated that YBCO films on ZnO nanorods/STO were well crystallized with the (001) orientation. EXAFS measurements from YBCO/ZnO nanorods/STO at Cu K edge demonstrated that the local structural properties around Cu atoms in YBCO were quite similar to those of YBCO/STO.

Electronic Localization Due to Fluorine in $YBa_2Cu_3O_xF_y$ Superconducting Materials

  • High-Tc superconducting materials, $YBa_2Cu_3O_xF_y$ with $x{\leq}6.89\;and\;0.25{\leq}y{\leq}0.35$, were prepared and Studied by X-ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility and resistivity measurement. Under given conditions, reproducible resistivities were obtained, which increased with increase in the amount of fluorine. The introduced fluorine atoms were found to be localized in pyramidal Cu-O units rather than in Cu-O chains. It is suggested that the localized fluorine atom increases the electronic lolcalization of the superconducting electrons.

Preparation of Yba2Cu3Ox Superconductor Prepared with Additives of PbO and Ag2O

  • The improvement of preparation process of ${YBa_2}{Cu_3}{O_x}$ superconductor and its conducting properties is important for practical applications. In this study, the additives such as $Ag_{2}O$ and PbO were used to improve the preparation conditions of ${YBa_2}{Cu_3}{O_x}$ superconducting bulk samples and the properties of ${YBa_2}{Cu_3}{O_x}$ superconductors prepared with powders using sol-gel method and solid state reaction method were studied. The effects of the different powders and the additives to the density, grain alignment, and porosity of samples, that affect the critical current density of superconductor, also have been investigated. It is found that the properties of ${YBa_2}{Cu_3}{O_x}$ prepared with sol-gel synthesized powder and the additives showed better superconductivities than those of conventionally prepared superconductors.

  • 본 연구에서는 rf magnetron 스퍼터링으로 (100) 사파이어 기판에 퇴적시킨 YBa$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$$O_{7-x}$박막을 열처리하기 위하여 급속 열처리 방법을 사용하였다. XRD, AES, 그리고 4단자 비저항 측정법을 사용하여 급속 열처리로 형성시킨 초전도체 박막과 기판사이의 상호확산을 조사하였다. 제조된 박막은 91K에서 Tc(onset)를 80K에서 Tc(zero)를 나타내었다. AES 분석 결과, 급속 열처리 방법의 경우 YBa$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$$O_{7-x}$ HTS 박막과 기판사이의 계면에서 항호확산이 감소되는 것을 확인하였다. XRD 분석 결과, 급속 열처리에 의해 형성된 HTS 박막은 주로 c-축이 기판의 표면에 수직인 구조를 가지고 있었다.
