  • In this paper, we designed and made an experiment on a general analog data acquistion system. which used $\mu$-controller. Using the general purpose $\mu$-controller and simple algorithm. we could easily acquire the state of physical system and convert analog to digital data which is possible digital processing. Finally, we realized the RS232 serial communication system for more complex data processing from PC.

  • A high performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in plasma. The simultaneous determination of ibuprofen, fenoprofen and ketoprofen is performed by RP-HPLC with UV detection. The chromatographic system consisted of Spherisorb octyl column$(5{\mu}m)$ ; the mobile phase was $acetonitrile\;-\;0.5\%$ phosphoric acid(55 : 45, v/v) and the detection wavelength was 230nm. Tolmetin was employed as an internal standard. The method described is rapid and simple with sensitivity limits of $2.0{\mu}g/ml$ ibuprofen, $0.5{\mu}g/ml$ fenoprofen and $0.3{\mu}g/ml$ ketoprofen and is suitable for routine clinical and pharmacokinetic studies.

  • Active antibacterial compound against periodontitis-causing bacterium Porphyromonas gingivalis was isolated from Kaempferia pandurata and identified as panduratin A. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of panduratin A was $4\;{\mu}g/mL$, much lower than those of other natural antibacterial agents. Panduratin A also showed antibacterial activity against Prevotella intermedia ($2\;{\mu}g/mL$), P. loescheii ($4\;{\mu}g/mL$), and cariogenic Streptococcus mutans ($4\;{\mu}g/mL$). Damage on cell wall and perturbation of cytoplasmic membrane of panduratin A-treated P. gingivalis were visualized through transmission electron microscopy. These results suggest panduratin A, exhibiting strong and preferential antiperiodontal and anticariogenic activities, may be utilized in functional foods for prevention of oral diseases.

  • This study attempted to establish the basic data for ensuring the safety of dried Alaska pollack. The changes of such compounds in the curse of drying as cholesterol, malonaldehyde, 7-ketocho-lesterol, 7$\alpha$-, 7$\beta$-hydroxycholesterol and 25-hydroxycholesterol were analyzed. The contensts of cholesterol decreased rapidly in the samples durint sun, hot-air and frozen drying and the decreased levels of cholesterol in dried products were about 134.0~191.3mg/100gas compared with 307.1mg/100g in raw samples. 4.8~6.1$\mu\textrm{g}$/100g in dried samples. In the raw samples, oxidized cholesterols were not detected hydroxycholesterol(34.1~41.7$\mu\textrm{g}$), 7$\beta$-hydroxycholesterol(26.8~40.2$\mu\textrm{g}$/g) and 25-hydroxycholesterol(0.3~1.3$\mu\textrm{g}$/g) were detected. Frozen drying was formed to be the most effective to minimize the formation of oxidized cholesterol in Alaska pollacks.

  • A simple reversed phase HPLC method was developed for extracting pharmacologically active compounds coptisine, palmatine, berberine, and epiberberine from the roots of Coptis chinensis using a binary gradient of acetonitrile : 10 mM hexanesulfonic acid-Na monohydrate with UV detection at 254 nm. The coptisine (1), palmatine (2), berberine (3), and epiberberine (4) contents of the roots of C. chinensis collected from sixteen district markets in Korea and China were $6.79\;{\sim}\;24.63\;{\mu}g/g$, $5.40\;{\sim}\;20.75\;{\mu}g/g$, $21.40\;{\sim}\;81.21\;{\mu}g/g$, and $3.45\;{\sim}\;12.04\;{\mu}g/g$, respectively.

  • Four coumarins were isolated from chloroform extract of the root of Peucedanum japonicum and identified as praeruptorin A (1), xanthotoxin (2), psoralen (3) and bergapten (4) on the basis of spectroscopic methods. The inhibitory activities of these coumarins on monoamine oxidase prepared by mouse brian were tested. The IC50 values of them were shown to be $27.4{\mu}M$ (1), $40.7{\mu}M$ (2), $35.8{\mu}M$ (3), and $13.8{\mu}M$ (4), in vitro.
