  • Urbanized area has complex terrain with many flow paths. Almost stormwater is drained through pipe network because most area is impervious. And overland flow from the pipe network reform the surface flow. Therefore, it should be considered the drainage system and surface runoff both in urban inundation analysis. It is analyzed by using MIKE FLOOD integrated 1 dimension - 2 dimension model about Incheon Gyo urbanized watershed and compared with the results of 1 dimension model and 2 dimension model. At the result this approach linking of 2 dimension and 1 dimension pipe hydraulic model in MIKE FLOOD give accuracy that offers substantial improvement over earlier approach and more information about inundation such as water dapth, velocity or risk of flood, because it is possible to present storage of overland flow and topographical characteristic of area.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of the transverse troughs on hydrodynamic behavior within the a certain full-scale sedimentation basin (flow rate/one basin; $10,000m^3/d$) using CFD simulation and ADV technique. In order to verify the CFD simulation, we measured the factual velocity at 36 points in the full-scale sedimentation basin, whose outlet structure is inadequate, with ADV technique. Both the CFD simulation and the ADV measurement results were in good accordance with each other. From the CFD simulation results of the existing basin, it was investigated that extreme upward flow occurs in the near of two transverse troughs. It was suspected that since the transverse troughs converted the open channel flow into the local closed pipe flow, the increased pressure in this local closed pipe flow region made the extreme upward flow. For solving this problems, it was suggested to modify transverse-typed launder into finger-typed launder and to install a longitudinal baffle in the center in this study. The CFD simulation results of all suggested amendments told us that the extreme upward flow, had occurred especially in the beneath of transverse troughs, was much less in the case of finger typed launder basin than that in the existing basin. Also, it was predicted that installing a longitudinal baffle made the fully developed flow which is more effective for sedimentation.

  • As a fundamental structural element of construction, a pile is constructed to transfer loads from superstructure to foundation. In general, since the pile foundation is constructed in the ground or ground under water, it is difficult to protect from the damages due to moisture and/or salt which create corrosive environment and it is even more difficult to estimate its durability. In this study, in order to enhance the durability and constructibility of the pile foundation, FRP-concrete hybrid composite pile (HCFFT) is suggested. Moreover, equation for the prediction of load carrying capacity of HCFFT circular members under compression is suggested and discussed based on the results of analytical and experimental investigations. In addition, we also conducted the finite element simulation for the structural behavior of new HCFFT composite pile and the result is compared with those of experimental and analytical studies. In addition, the axial loading capacity of new HCFFT composite pile is compared with those of existing PHC pile and hollow circular steel pipe pile, and it was found that the new HCFFT composite pile has advantages over conventional PHC and steel pipe piles.

  • Recently, underground pipes are utilized in various fields of applications such as sewer lines, drain lines, water mains, gas lines, telephone and electrical conduits, culverts, oil lines, etc. Most of pipes are installed for long-term purposes and they should be safely installed in consideration of installation conditions because there are unexpected various terrestrial loading conditions. In this paper, we present the result of investigation pertaining to the structural behavior of glass fiber reinforced thermosetting polymer plastic (GFRP) flexible pipes buried underground. The mechanical properties of the GFRP flexible pipes produced in the domestic manufacturer are determined and the results are reported in this paper. In addition, ring deflection is measured by the field tests and the finite element analysis (FEA) is also conducted to simulate the structural behavior of GFRP pipes buried underground. From the field test results, we predicted long-term, up to 50 years, ring deflection of GFRP pipes buried underground based on the method suggested by the existing literature. It was found that the GFRP flexible pipe to be used for cooling water intake system in the nuclear power plant is appropriate because 5% ring deflection limitation for 50 years could be satisfied.

  • We investigated design requirements of feed water drain and hydrogen vent systems for the sodium-water reaction pressure relief system (SWRPRS) of the prototype generation IV sodium cooled fast reactor (PGSFR). We evaluated the areas of the gas vent pipe of the water dump tank and the length of the water drain pipe of the steam generator to rapid drain of the water steam inside the steam generator for the normal and refueling operations, respectively. We also calculated the diameter of the gas vent pipe of the sodium dump tank which met its design pressure.

  • Applications of energy harvesting from mechanical vibrations is becoming popular but the full potential of such applications is yet to be explored. This paper addresses this issue by considering an application of energy harvesting for the dual objective of serving as an indicator of structural health monitoring (SHM) and extent of control. Variation of harvested energy from an undamaged baseline is employed for this purpose and the concept is illustrated by implementing it for active vibrations of a pipe structure. Theoretical and experimental analyses are carried out to determine the energy harvesting potential from undamaged and damaged conditions. The use of energy harvesting as indicator for control is subsequently investigated, considering the effect of the introduction of a tuned mass damper (TMD). It is found that energy harvesting can be used for the detection and monitoring of the location and magnitude of damage occurring within a pipe structure. Additionally, the harvested energy acts as an indicator of the extent of reduction of vibration of pipes when a TMD is attached. This paper extends the range of applications of energy harvesting devices for the monitoring of built infrastructure and illustrates the vast potential of energy harvesters as smart sensors.

  • Gesture recognition analytics through a camera in real time have been widely studied in recent years. Since a small number of features from human joints are extracted, low accuracy of classifying models is get in conventional gesture recognition studies. In this paper, CBAM (Convolutional Block Attention Module) with high accuracy for classifying images is proposed as a classification model and algorithm calculating the angle of joints depending on actions is presented to solve the issues. Employing five exercise gestures images from the fitness posture images provided by AI Hub, the images are applied to the classification model. Important 8-joint angles information for classifying the exercise gestures is extracted from the images by using MediaPipe, a graph-based framework provided by Google. Setting the features as input of the classification model, the classification model is learned. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the exercise gestures are classified with high accuracy in the proposed model.

  • Recently, because of development of the high speed train technology, the vibration loads by train is significantly increased ever than before. This buried gas pipelines are exposed to both repeated impact loads, and, moreover, they have been influencing by vibration loads than pipeline which is not located under vehicle loads. The vibration characteristic of pipeline is examined by dynamic analysis, and variable is only train speed. Since an effect of magnitude of vibration loads is more critical than cover depth, as increasing the train speed, the vibration speed of buried pipelines is also increased. The slope of vibration velocity is changed by attenuation of wave, at train speed, 300 km/h. From the analysis results, the vibration velocity of pipelines is satisfied with the vibration velocity criteria which are established by Korea Gas Corporation. The results present operation condition of pipelines under rail loads has fully sound integrity based on KOGAS specification.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the time mean velocity distribution, the time mean kinetic energy, and the time mean turbulence intensity between vertical and horizontal flow fields in a coaxial circular pipe by PIV measurement. Experiments are performed at a Reynolds number 2,000, measuring regions divided as the section regions A, B, C, D in flow fields. The angle of the high-frequency ultrasonic is selected in the direction of $45^{\circ}$ to the flow axes and it is reflected several times. In results, it is clarified that the effect of gravity is given in the vertical flow field compared with the horizontal flow field and the ultrasonic affects the turbulence enhancement. And kinetic energy and turbulence intensity with ultrasonic are shown slightly bigger than those in flow field without it.
