  • In the Internet-of-Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), complete implementations are dependent largely on the speed of the fifth generation (5G) networks. However, successive interference cancellation (SIC) in non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) of the 5G mobile networks can be still decoding latency and receiver complexity in the conventional SIC NOMA scheme. Thus, in order to reduce latency and complexity of inherent SIC in conventional SIC NOMA schemes, we propose a rate-lossless non-SIC NOMA scheme. First, we derive the closed-form expression for the achievable data rate of the asymmetric 2PAM non-SIC NOMA, i.e., without SIC. Second, the exact achievable power allocation interval of this rate-lossless non-SIC NOMA scheme is also derived. Then it is shown that over the derived achievable power allocation interval of user-fairness, rate-lossless non-SIC NOMA can be implemented. As a result, the asymmetric 2PAM could be a promising modulation scheme for rate-lossless non-SIC NOMA of 5G networks, under user-fairness.

  • Recently, a lossless non-successive interference cancellation (SIC) non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) implementation has been proposed. Such lossless NOMA without SIC is achieved via correlated superposition coding (SC), in comparison with conventional independent SC. However, only high-correlated SC was investigated in the lossless non-SIC NOMA implementation. Thus, this paper investigates low-correlated SC, especially a lossless interval, owing to low-correlation between signals. First, for the low-correlated SC scheme, we derive the closed-form expressions for the two roots with which the lossless interval is defined. Then, simulations demonstrate that the lossless interval of low-correlated SC NOMA is enlarged, with a degraded middle interval, compared to that of high-correlated SC NOMA. Moreover, we also show that such tendency becomes stronger as the value of the correlation coefficient varies. As a result, the proposed low-correlated SC scheme could be considered as a promising correlated SC scheme, with the enlarged lossless interval in NOMA toward the future sixth-generation (6G) ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC).

  • Relay-assisted D2D communication extends the communication range of the D2D pairs and helps users to form D2D pairs effectively. However, due to the introduction of the multi-hop relaying, the D2D communication has to occupy extra transmission time, which may decrease the efficiency of the communication system. In this paper, we propose a scheme to make node receive D2D signal and BS signal at overlapping time to improve the spectrum efficiency according to ZigZag decoding and successive-interference-cancellation (SIC). In this way, more data can be delivered during the same duration, thus the network throughput can be further improved. Numerical results verify the performance improvement of the proposed scheme when compared with a baseline scheme. Moreover, we expand the proposed scheme from one-hop relay scenario to multi-hop relay scenario.

  • The non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is one of the fledging paradigms which next generation radio access technologies are sprouting toward. The NOMA with superposition coding (SC) in the transmitter and successive interference cancellation (SIC) at the receiver comes with many desirable features and benefits over orthogonal multiple access (OMA) such as orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) adopted by Long-Term Evolution (LTE). In this paper, we study the recent research trends on NOMA in 5G systems. We discuss the basic concept of NOMA and explain its aspects of importance for future radio access. Then, we provide a survey of the state of the art in NOMA for 5G systems in a categorized manner. Further, we analyze the NOMA performances with numerical examples; and provide some avenues for future research on NOMA on a set of open issues and challenges.

  • In this paper, we propose a low complexity bilateral search SIC for OFDM in fast time-varying channels. Due to the possibility of error propagation in SIC, symbol detection ordering within the block of symbols has a significant effect on the overall performance. In this paper, the first symbol to be detected is determined based on CSEP values, and then the next symbol to be detected is selected according to the updated CSEP while bilaterally searching from the boundary of the detected symbol group. Through computer simulations, we show that the proposed method has performance improvements with almost the same computation complexity over the conventional methods in the high SNR region. It has a performance approaching the MFB, known as the performance upper bound, within 2dB at the BER of $10^{-5}$.

  • In this paper, we propose a new relay selection technique which utilizes interference cancellation with decoding information at multiple relays for buffer-aided successive relaying systems. The transmitting relay is selected if its own transmission to the destination is successful and the number of relays which can successfully decode the data from the source is the maximum at the same time. Simulation results show that the proposed relay selection technique significantly outperforms the conventional relay selection scheme in terms of outage probability.

  • In this paper, we propose an iterative soft dimension reduction based multi-input multi-output (MIMO) detection for coded spatial multiplexing system. In spite of better performance of iterative MIMO detection, its computational complexity gives a significant burden to the receivers. To mitigate this problem, we propose a scheme employing all ordering successive interference cancellation (AOSIC) for hard-decision detection and dimension reduction soft demodulator (DRSD) with iterative decoding for soft-decision detectors, respectively. This scheme can reduce complexity of iterative soft MIMO detection and provide better performance than other conventional detectors.

  • This paper proposes a successive MAP (maximum a posteriori probability) detection scheme with SoIC(soft interference cancellation) to reduce the receiver complexity of hierarchical M-ary QAM system. For the successive MAP detection, modulation symbols generated from the other data streams are treated as Gaussian noise or eliminated as the soft interference according to their priorities. The log-likelihood ratio of the a posteriori probability (LAPRP) of each bit is calculated by the MAP detector with an adjusted noise variance in order to take the elimination and Gaussian assumption effect into account. By separating the detection process into the successive steps, the detection complexity is reduced to increase linearly with the number of bits per hierarchical M-ary QAM symbol. Simulation results show that the proposed detection provides a small performance degradation as compared to the optimal MAP detection.

  • In this paper, we propose and analyze a novel interference cancellation scheme in cooperation communication environment in which a large number of users exist. In cooperative communication system consisting a source, destination, and relay, ad-hoc groups undergo a rapid degradation because of interference data form adjacent ad-hoc groups. To solve these problems, we propose Zero Forcing (FC) and Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) and make a dent in the magnitude of interference. Finally, we can obtain orignal data using Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC). The performance of proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of a bit error probability. The results of the paper can be applied to design of various ad-hoc networks for cooperation communication systems.

  • We propose a new type of OFDM-CDMA scheme which allows large inter-user timing offset using zero correlation zone(ZCZ) code in conjunction with block spreading technique. Moreover to maximize spectral efficiency, the proposed OFDMA does not have guard time(GT). This is opposite to the trends in the conventional schemes where GT are supposed to be larger to allow larger inter-user timing offset. It is remarkable that the proposed GT-free OFDM-CDMA scheme completely cancels inter-user interference in the multipath fading simply by despreading process. This inter-user interference-free feature still remains even there exist inter-user timing offsets as large as multiple OFDM symbols. Although the self-user interference exists due to no GT, it can be effectively suppressed by simple successive interference cancellation(SIC) from the first symbol in spread block as it is free from inter symbol interference(ISI).
