To develop high efficiency crystalline solar cells, the $SiN_x$ film for surface passivation and anti-reflection coating is very important and it is generally deposited by PECVD. In this paper, the $SiN_x$ film deposited by Hot-Wire chemical vapor deposition(HWCVD) that has no plasma damage was studied. First, to optimize the $SiN_x$ film deposition process, $SiH_4$ gas rate and substrate temperature were varied and then refractive index and thickness were measured. When $SiH_4$ gas rate was 22sccm and substrate temperature was $100^{\circ}C$, refractive index was 1.94 and higher than that of other process conditions. Second, the lifetime was measured by varying the annealing temperature and time. The annealing process was made from 5 to 30 minutes at $300{\sim}500^{\circ}C$. When the annealing temperature was $100^{\circ}C$ and time was 10minute, the lifetime was the highest. The lifetime of annealed samples was also measured after the firing process at $975^{\circ}C$. Although the lifetime of all samples was decreased by firing process, the lifetime of annealed samples before the firing process was higher than that of fired samples only. Finally, the characteristics of solar cells with HWCVD $SiN_x$ film were measured.

The pore size of nickel (Ni) bottom electrode layer (BEL) for low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells embedded with ultrathin-film electrolyte was controlled by changing the substrate surface morphology and deposition process parameters. For ~150-nm-thick Ni BEL, the upper side of an anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) substrate with ~65-nm-sized pores provided ~1.7 times smaller pore size than the lower side of the AAO substrate. For ~100-nm-thick Ni BEL, the AAO substrate with ~45-nm-sized pores provided ~2.6 times smaller pore size than the AAO substrate with ~95-nm-sized pores, and the deposition pressure of ~4 mTorr provided ~1.3 times smaller pore size than that of ~48 mTorr. On the AAO substrate with ~65-nm-sized pores, the Ni BEL deposited for 400 seconds had ~2 times smaller pore size than the Ni BEL deposited for 100 seconds.
In this work, we investigated simple Aㅣ/TCO/a-Si:H(n)/c-Si(p)/Al hetero-junction solar cells prepared by low temperature processes, unlike conventional thermal diffused c-Si solar cells. a-Si:H/c-Si hetero-junction solar cells are processed by low temperature deposition of n-type hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) films by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition on textured and flat p-type silicon substrate. A detailed investigation was carried out to acquire optimization and compatibility of amorphous layer, TCO (ZnO:Al) layer depositions by changing the plasma process parameters. As front TCO and back contact, ZnO:Al and AI were deposited by rf magnetron sputtering and e-beam evaporation, respectively. The photovoltaic conversion efficiency under AMI.5 and the quantum efficiency on $1cm^2$ sample have been reported. An efficiency of $12.5\%$ is achieved on hetero-structure solar cells based on p-type crystalline silicon.
Optimum conditions for vacuum-drying ad cultivation of yeast cells for the production of active dry yeast were examined. At lower temperature, more drying time was required to dry the yeast pellet to reach the desirable water content(8%). Optimum temperature of vaccum oven and time for drying was 63$^{\circ}C$ and 90 min, respectively. Optimum medium composition for flask culture using cane molasses as the substrate were 0.25% sugar, 0.013% $K_2$HPO$_4$, 0.1% $K_2$HPO$_4$. and 0.125% (NH$_4$)$_2$SO$_4$. Culture temperature $25^{\circ}C$ gave the highest survival rate of dired yeast. After finishing fed-batch culture and the culture was left in the fermentor without adding any sugar or nutrient, survival of the dried yeast harvested from the fermentor increased to 86.0% after 36 hr. It was also observed that the yeast cells with higher budding rates showed lower survival rate.

In this paper, we report electrical, optical and structural properties of Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films deposited at different substrate temperatures and pressures. The films were prepared by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering on glass substrates in argon (Ar) ambient. The X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the AZO films deposited at room temperature (RT) and 20 Pa were mostly oriented along a-axis with preferred orientation along (100) direction. There was an improvement in resistivity ($3.7{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}-cm$) transmittance (95%) at constant substrate temperature (RT) and working pressure (20 Pa) using the Hall-effect measurement system and UV-vis spectroscopy, respectively. Our results have promising applications in low-cost transparent electronics, such as the thin-film solar cells and thin-film transistors due to favourable deposition conditions. Furthermore our film deposition method offers a procedure for preparing highly oriented (100) AZO films.

Transparent conducting aluminum-doped Zinc oxide films (ZnO:Al) were prepared by rf magnetron sputtering on glass (Coming 1737) substrate as a variation of the deposition condition. After deposition, the smooth ZnO:Al films were etched in diluted HCl (0.5%) to examine the electrical and surface morphology properties as a variation of the time. The most important deposition condition of surface-textured ZnO films by chemical etching is the processing pressure and the substrate temperature. In low pressures (0.9mTorr) and high substrate temperatures $({\leq}300^{\circ}C)$, the surface morphology of films exhibits a more dense and compact film structure with effective light-trapping to apply the silicon thin film solar cells.
Recently, we found that Arthrobacter crystallopoietes N-08 isolated from soil directly produces trehalose from maltose by a resting cell reaction. In this study, the optimal set of conditions and substrate specificity for the trehalose production using resting cells was investigated. Optimum temperature and pH of the resting cell reaction were $55^{\circ}C$ and pH 5.5, respectively, and the reaction was stable for two hours at $37{\sim}55^{\circ}C$ and for one hour at the wide pH ranges of 3~9. Various disaccharide substrates with different glycosidic linkages, such as maltose, isomaltose, cellobiose, nigerose, sophorose, and laminaribiose, were converted into trehalose-like spots in thin layer chromatography (TLC). These results indicated broad substrate specificity of this reaction and the possibility that cellobiose could be converted into other trehalose anomers such as ${\alpha},{\beta}$- and ${\beta},{\beta}$-trehalose. Therefore, the product after the resting cell reaction with cellobiose was purified by ${\beta}$-glucosidase treatment and Dowex-1 ($OH^-$) column chromatography and its structure was analyzed. Component sugar and methylation analyses indicated that this cellobiose-conversion product was composed of only non-reducing terminal glucopyranoside. MALDI-TOF and ESI-MS/MS analyses suggested that this oligosaccharide contained a non-reducing disaccharide unit with a 1,1-glucosidic linkage. When this disaccharide was analyzed by $^1H$-NMR and $^{13}C$-NMR, it gave the same signals with ${\alpha}$-D-glucopyranosyl-(1,1)-${\alpha}$-D-glucopyranoside. These results suggest that cellobiose can be converted to ${\alpha},{\alpha}$-trehalose by the resting cells of A. crystallopoietes N-08.

The kesterite $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ (CZTSe) thin film solar cells were synthesized by selenization of sputtered Cu/Sn/Zn metallic precursors on Mo coated soda lime glass substrate in Ar atmosphere. Cu/Sn/Zn metallic precursors were deposited by DC magnetron sputtering process with 30 W power at room temperature. As-deposited metallic precursors were placed in a graphite box with Se pellets and selenized using rapid thermal processing furnace at various temperature ($480^{\circ}C{\sim}560^{\circ}C$) without using a toxic $H_2Se$ gas. Effects of Selenization temperature on the morphological, crystallinity, electrical properties and cell efficiency were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), J-V measurement system and solar simulator. Further details about effects of selenization temperature on CZTSe thin films will be discussed.

In solar industry, numerous researchers reported about cold spray method among various electrode formation technic, but there are no known a bonding mechanism of metal powder. In this study, a cross-section of copper electrode formed by cold spray method was observed and heterogeneous phase between silicon substrate and copper electrode was analyzed using morphology observation technic. SEM and TEM analysis were performed to analyze a crystallinity and distribution shape of heterogeneous copper phase. Molecular dynamics simulation was performed to calculate glass transition temperature of copper metal. In the result, amorphous copper phase was observed near interface between silicon substrate and metal electrode. The results of the molecular dynamics simulation show that an amorphous copper phase could be formed at a temperature below the melting point of copper because cold spraying resulted in a lower glass transition temperature.

Graphene, $sp^2$-hybridized 2-Dimension carbon material, has drawn enormous attention due to its desirable performance of excellent properties. Graphene can be applied for many electronic devices such as field-effect transistors (FETs), touch screen, solar cells. Furthermore, indium tin oxide (ITO) is commercially used and sets the standard for transparent electrode. However, ITO has certain limitations, such as increasing cost due to indium scarcity, instability in acid and basic environments, high surface roughness and brittle. Due to those reasons, graphene will be a perfect substitute as a transparent electrode. We report the graphene synthesized by inductive coupled plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (ICP-PECVD) process on Cu substrate. The growth was carried out using low temperature at $400^{\circ}C$ rather than typical chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process at $1,000^{\circ}C$ The low-temperature process has advantage of low cost and also low melting point materials will be available to synthesize graphene as substrate, but the drawback is low quality. To improve the quality, the factor affect the quality of graphene was be investigated by changing the plasma power, the flow rate of precursors, the scenario of precursors. Then, graphene film's quality was investigated with Raman spectroscopy and sheet resistance and optical emission spectroscopy.
