In construction industry, it is very important to secure the eminent subcontractors of construction companies in order to increase the competitive power, these subcontractors ate selected through the total evaluation. Also, the results of evaluation is used management data the subcontractors. Therefore, if we know the evaluation rules of subcontractors previously, it can be used to manage the subcontractors effectively. Thus, using fuzzy ID3 which is obtain the if-then fuzzy rule from the given data, we acquire the rules for evaluation of subcontractors and show its usefulness.

Korean construction companies are recently facing stiff competition in free market economy, and construction projects tend to be complex and large-scale. Such an environment demands that construction companies ensure specialized subcontractors. This paper suggested a subcontractor evaluation model for selection of competent subcontractors which are equipped with operational, technical and productive ability. For designing a subcontractor model, AHP method as a group decision-marking method is applied in assigning weighting indices of evaluation elements. To verify this method, actual data collected in one of construction companies are analysed statistically.

The reinforcement of competitiveness and prevention of false construction has become the management goal of construction companies since construction market was opened. In this study, we introduced the concept, 'Partnering' to effectively manage subcontractors, and shed light on again the relationship between contractor and subcontractor, and tried to find its mutual progressive relationship. This study looked at the theories through existing literature to build mutual cooperation system by 'Partnering', and then sampled 'Quality Management System' of general construction companies and looked into their present state in managing subcontractors, and then compared and analyzed the problems in managing subcontractors by questionnaire survey with specialized construction companies. And, in order to establish a reasonable plan in managing subcontractors based on these problems, we progressed the study on how to build mutual cooperation system using 'Partnering'.

Recently, a size of the domestic construction industry Has been reduced rapidly, and its economic slump Has been continued with the government real estate stabilization and tax policies. Moreover, as the reconstruction of apartments that has been added high value to the construction companies has been on the stake of high risk with delays of reconstruction start and finance restriction policies, an uncertainty of the construction markets and the competitions between the construction companies has been increased. At this point, the establishment of a collaboration relationship between construction companies has been recognized as one of the methodologies to respond actively on these uncertainties and fierce competitions. A collaboration relationship between construction companies is based on the balanced cooperation relationship for surviving together, and should be maintained on the complement and specialized collaboration between big, middle and small contractors. This paper propose a model of practical collaboration relationship to cooperate together between prime and subcontractors in Korean construction companies based on the analysis of questionnaires to the collaboration status between general and subcontractors in the Gangwon area.

This study is to investigate global logistics strategies of Korean electronics companies. in terms of service parts. According to the survey, Korean electronics companies were pursuing multi-level global logistics network such as global, continental, national, regional and service center echelon for improving the efficiency of service parts global logistics. Especially there was a tendency of developing new continental distribution centers. And the companies were exploiting efficiency through inventory control by multi-level echelon, demand forecasting by the product life cycle and supply and service lead time management. But there were some insufficient factors for the efficiency of global logistics operation at the construction of worldwide real time logistics information system and pursuit of the efficiency on the whole network including subcontractors. For the future competitive advantage of the Korean electronics companies, the following are suggested: 1) the establishment of arranged logistics channel adjusting each company's global strategy, 2) the construction of worldwide real time logistics information system, 3) the reengineering of all logistics procedures such as order processing, shipping, inventory control, etc., 4) the enhancement of the ratio of the supply from the external companies and the internal manufacturing subsidiaries at each continent, 5) and the pursuit of operational internalization of external subcontractors.

The TAM(Topographic Attentive Mapping) network based on a biologically-motivated neural network model is an especially effective one for pattern analysis. It is composed of of input layer, category layer, and output layer. Fuzzy rule, for input and output data are acquired from it. The TAM network with three pruning rules for reducing links and nodes at the layer is called fuzzy TAM network. In this paper, we apply fuzzy TAM network to pattern analysis of core competency model for subcontractors of construction companies and show its usefulness.

Construction companies economic to lighten the restrictions on safety education and training due to the domestic recession as long as the global downturn. With this, the Korean government restrictions, but the incidents are being sharply increased nowadays. The construction industry hazardous than any others, so, they insist to reinforce the training for incidents prevention, to be disregarded at the subcontractors of the bigger construction companies problems. According to these matters, this study hereby surveyed regarding their suggestions for the improvements of the training concepts through questionnaires below.

In terms of deregulation requests from business, incidents at construction sites are rapidly increasing after reducing the regular safety training hours. Especially, to prevent incidents through safety trainings for construction site workers, who have lots of hazardous tasks than general manufacturing, is not only to protect property of both the companies and the country but also to increase their profits. That is why there are loud voices regarding that the safety training is a core mandatory to prevent industrial incidents. But, most companies, as soon as the deregulation for safety training is implemented, mitigated conducting safety trainings to prevent incidents. With this, theincidents are currently to be increased and caught in a vicious circle of many incidents at the smaller companies because of their absentmindedness regarding safety training due to their poorness as subcontractors of major companies, comparing to major companies. This study explains that incident factors are roughly divided into technical factor, managerial factor, and educational factor. And, we confirmed that the educational factor led by deficiency safety awareness and knowledge was the major factor.

In recent years, the reduction of international award and project loss by Korean contractors have become a big issue not only in industry but also in academic fields. However, many researches have not focused on small and medium subcontractors but on the large contractors, even though the number of international project by small and medium companies is more than by large companies. Therefore, this study focuses on analyzing the predicted risk before bid and the actual risk after award in international subcontracting projects. In addition, it provides the difference between project performances according to the contract types and the project profitability. This study is expected to give more informed risk knowledge to small and medium subcontractors, which enables them to pay attention to managing risk for better project performances.
