서모트로픽 액정폴리머와 폴리아미드6으로 성형된 얇은 복합재료의 미세구조형태 (Microstructural Morphology of Molded Thin Composites of Thermotropic Liquid Crystalline Polymer and Polyamide 6)

  • Microstructural morphology of molded composites of thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer(LCP) and polyamide 6 (PA6) has been studied as a function of epoxy fraction. Injection-moulding of a thin composite plaque at a temperature below the melting point of the LCP fibrils by suing the extruded LCP/PA6 pellets produced multi-layered structures: 1) the surface skin layer with thickness of 65-120 ym exhibiting a transverse orientation, 2) the sub-skin layer with an orientation perpendicular to the surface skin, i.e. in the flow direction, 3) the core layer with arc-curved flow patterns. Similar microstructural orientations were observed in the respective layers for the composite plaques with different fractions of epoxy.

Flexible NO2 gas sensor using multilayer graphene films by chemical vapor deposition

  • We report a highly sensitive $NO_2$ gas sensor based on multi-layer graphene (MLG) films synthesized by a chemical vapor deposition method on a microheater-embedded flexible substrate. The MLG could detect low-concentration $NO_2$ even at sub-ppm (<200 ppb) levels. It also exhibited a high resistance change of ~6% when it was exposed to 1 ppm $NO_2$ gas at room temperature for 1 min. The exceptionally high sensitivity could be attributed to the large number of $NO_2$ molecule adsorption sites on the MLG due to its a large surface area and various defect-sites, and to the high mobility of carriers transferred between the MLG films and the adsorbed gas molecules. Although desorption of the $NO_2$ molecules was slow, it could be enhanced by an additional annealing process using an embedded Au microheater. The outstanding mechanical flexibility of the graphene film ensures the stable sensing response of the device under extreme bending stress. Our large-scale and easily reproducible MLG films can provide a proof-of-concept for future flexible $NO_2$ gas sensor devices.

이산화탄소 지중저장을 위한 수리-역학 연동 해석 기술 개발 및 적용 - 슬라이프너 프로젝트 (Development of Hydro-Mechanical Coupling Method for CO2 Sequestration and Its Application to Sleipner Project)

  • 세계 각국에서는 지구온난화 완화를 위한 이산화탄소 지중저장에 대한 관심이 높다. 본 연구에서는 이산화탄소 지중저장에 따른 수리-역학적 복합거동 해석을 위해 TOUGH2 와 FLAC3D 를 결합하고 이를 노르웨이 슬라이프너 프로젝트에 적용하였다. 수리-역학 해석에서는 공극압에 의한 현지응력의 변화를 고려하였으며 주입공 상부의 덮개암의 투수계수 변화에 따른 수리-역학적 영향을 분석하였다. 일정 속도로 이산화탄소를 주입하는 경우, 주입정에에서의 압력 및 포화도 변화, 암반에서의 포화도 변화, 시간과 위치에 따른 암반에서의 최대주응력 및 최소주응력의 변화, 주입 후 수직변위 및 수평변위의 변화를 파악할 수 있었다. 최대주응력은 주입초기에 빠르게 상승한 후 서서히 낮아지다가 초기 응력보다 높은 값으로 수렴하는 경향을 보였으며 최소주응력은 초기에 빠르게 증가하다가 초기값으로 복귀하는 경향을 보였다. 주입이 진행됨에 따라 지표에서는 융기가 점진적으로 발생하며 주입 후 2년이 경과한 시점에서 최대 15 mm 의 수직변위가 발생하였다. 덮개암의 투수계수를 $3e-15m^2{\sim}3e-18m^2$ 까지 변화시키면서 해석을 실시한 결과, 주입초기에는 투수계수에 반비례하여 주입공 압력과 지표면 융기가 증가하였다.

눈에 대한 미세먼지의 독성 평가를 위한 쥐 각막 상피 세포의 적용 (Application of Primary Rat Corneal Epithelial Cells to Evaluate Toxicity of Particulate Matter 2.5 to the Eyes)

  • 비록 PM2.5 노출과 다양한 안구 표면 질환과 관련성이 많은 선행 연구에서 알려졌지만, PM2.5 가 각막에 미치는 세포 독성에 대한 연구는 거의 수행되지 않았다. 본 연구의 목적은 PM에 의한 각막 상피세포의 유해성을 평가하기 위한 in vitro 모델로서 쥐의 각막유래 상피세포(primary rat corneal epithelial cells, RCE cells)의 효능을 조사하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 쥐의 눈에서 분리한 1차 배양 세포가 각막 상피세포임을 pan-cytokeratin 염색을 통하여 확인하였으며, PM2.처리에 의한 각막 상피세포의 형태학적 변화를 동반한 생존율의 억제는 세포사멸 유도와 관련이 있었다. 또한 PM2.가 처리된 각막 상피세포에서는 ROS의 생성이 증가되었으며, 이는 미토콘드리아 기능 장애와 연관성이 있었다. 이와 함께 PM2.는 각막 상피세포에서 NO, TNF-α, IL-1β 및 IL-6를 포함한 염증 매개인자 및 사이토카인의 생성을 증가시켰다. 아울러 heatmap 분석을 통해 BLNK, IL-1RA, Itga2b, ABCb1a 및 Ptgs2가 미세먼지 유도 안구 질환의 임상 치료를 위한 잠재적인 표적 유전자로서 제시하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구의 결과는 1차 쥐의 각막 상피세포가 PM2.에 의한 각막 상피세포 병리기전 연구에 유용한 모델일 수 있으며, 산화적 및 염증성 반응이 PM2.유발 안구 표면 장애 유도에 핵심적인 역할을 함을 알 수 있었다.

해양구조물용 알미늄 합금의 SCC에 의한 파괴연구 (The Fracture Study of SCC of Al - Alloy for Marine Structures)

  • 분극전위변화에 따른 고역 내식성 알미늄합금(5083)의 SCC 거동을 연구 검토한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 5083 알미늄합금의 K 하(IC)은 134.81~148.38kg/mm 상(3/2)이며, 전위변화에 따라 K 하(Ii)은 75.92~145.78kg/mm 하(3/2)이다. 2. K 하(I)-V의 거동은 양분극시 Region I 과 II가 나타나고, K 하(Ii)/K 하(IC)의 비가 작을수록 crack성장속도도 빠르게 나타난다. 3. 분극전위 -987mV SCE에서 crack성장속도가 가장 지연되므로 122mV SCE을 음분극하면 SCC 방지효과를 얻을 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 4. 입계의 $\beta$상의 석출은 분극전위가 클수록 크게 나타난다.

Numerical simulation of the influence of interaction between Qanat and tunnel on the ground settlement

  • This paper presents analysis of the interaction between tunnel and Qanat with a particular interest for the optimization of Qanat shape using the discrete element code, PFC2D, and the results will be compared with the FEM results of PLAXIS2D. For these concerns, using software PFC2D based on Discrete Element Method (DEM), a model with dimension of 100m 100 m was prepared. A circular tunnel with dimension of 9 m was situated 20 m below the ground surface. Also one Qanat was situated perpendicularly above the tunnel roof. Distance between Qanat center and ground surface was 8 m. Five different shapes for Qanat were selected i.e., square, semi-circular, vertical ellipse, circular and horizontal ellipse. Confining pressure of 5 MPa was applied to the model. The vertical displacement of balls situated in ground surface was picked up to measure the ground subsidence. Also two measuring circles were situated at the tunnel roof and at the Qanat roof to check the vertical displacements. The properties of the alluvial soil of Tehran city are: γdry=19 (KN/㎥), E= 750 (kg/㎠), ν=0.35, c=0.3(kg/㎠), φ=34°. In order to validate the DEM results, a comparison between the numerical results (obtained in this study) and analytical and field monitoring have been done. The PFC2D results are compared with the FEM results. The results shows that when Qanat has rectangular shape, the tensile stress concentration at the Qanat corners has maximum value while it has minimum value for vertical ellipse shape. The ground subsidence for Qanat rectangular shape has maximum value while it has minimum value for ellipse shape of Qanat. The vertical displacements at the tunnel roof for Qanat rectangular shape has maximum value while it has minimum value for ellipse shape of Qanat. Historical shape of Qante approved the finding of this research.

가압열충격 사고시 클래드 하부균열 안전성 평가 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Integrity Evaluation Method of Subclad Crack Under Pressurized Thermal Shock)

  • The reactor pressure vessel(RPV) is usually cladded with stainless steel to prevent corrosion and radiation embrittlement, and a number of subclad cracks have been found during an in-service-inspection. These subclad cracks should be assured for a safe operation under normal conditions and faulted conditions such as pressurized thermal shock(PTS). Currently available integrity assessment procedure for an RPV, ASME Code Sec. XI, are built on the basis of linear fracture mechanics (LEFM). In PTS condition, however, thermal stress and mechanical stress give rise to high tensile stress at the cladding and elastic-plastic behavior is expected in this area. Therfore, ASME Code Sec. XI is overly conservative in assessing the structural integrity under PTS condition. In this paper, the fracture parameter (stress intensity factor, K, and RT(sub)NDT) from elastic analysis using ASME Sec. XI and finite element method were validated against 3-D elastic-plastic finite element analyses. The difference between elastic and elastic-plastic analysis became significant with increasing crack depth. Therfore, it is recommended to perform elastic-plastic analysis for the accurate assessment of subclad cracks under TPS which causes plastic deformation at the cladding.

선형구배 응력장에서 표층의 잔류응력 측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Measurements of Sub-surface Residual Stress in the Field of Linear Stress Gradient)

  • 본 연구에서는 방전가공(electric disharge machining, EDM) 또는 공기연마 분사기(air-abrasive jet machine, AJM) 가공에 의하여 인장 시험편 또는 외팔보 시험 편에 구멍깊이를 증가시켜 가면서 구멍을 뚫었다. 여기에서 방저가공(EDM)을 채택한 것은 구멍깊이를 직접 계측하는 것이 가능하여 구멍깊이 측정 오차에 기인하는 잔류응 력 측정오차를 최소화 할 수 있기 때문이며, 공기연마 분사기를 채택한 것은 구멍을 뚫는 동안 가공응력을 유발시키지 않기 때문이었다. 위 인장 시험편 또는 외팔보 시 험편을 이용하여 균일한 응력장과 두께 방향으로 변하는 선형적 구배응력장을 구현하 고, 이 때 각각 구멍깊이가 다른 원통형 막힘 구멍으로 부터 이완되는 스트레인을 계 측하였다. Schajer가 제안한 멱급수법과 최소장승법을 적용하여 균일응력장 또는 구 배 응력장에서 측정되는 스트레인을 잔류응력으로 환산하였으며, 환산된 잔류응력과 실제로 작용하는 응력을 비교하므로서 이론적으로 제시된 멱급수법과 최소자승법의 타 당성을 실험적으로 검토하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 이 때 얕은 구멍깊이 (0.3∼ 1.2mm)에서 측정되는 스트레인을 이용하여 Schajer의 제안에 따라 잔류응력을 산정하 므로서, 잔류응력 계측 대상 구조물을 가급적 덜파괴시키며 잔류응력을 측정할 수 있 는지 여부를 실험적으로 검토하였다.

선박용 알루미늄 합금재의 부식피로균열 진전특성과 그 억제에 관한 연구 (Corrosion Fatigue Cracking Propagation Characteristics and its Protection for the AL-Alloys of Shipbuilding)

  • Recently, with the tendency of more lightening, high-strength and high-speed in the marine industries such as marine structures, ships and chemical plants, the use of the aluminium Alloy is rapidly enlarge and there occurs much interest in the study of corrosion fatigue crack characteristics. In this paper, the initiation of surface crack and the propagation characteristics on the base metal and weld zone of 5086-H116 Aluminium Alloy Plate which is one of the Al-Mg serious alloy(A5000serious) used most when building the special vessels, were investigated by the plane bending corrosion fatigue under the environments of marine, air and applying cathodic protection. The effects of various specific resistances on the initiation, propagation behavior of corrosion fatigue crack and corrosion fatigue life in the base metal and heat affected zone were examined and its corrosion sensitivity was quantitatively obtained. The effects of corrosion on the crack depth in relation to the uniform surface crack length were also investigated. Also, the structural, mechanical and electro-chemical characteristics of the metal at the weld zone were inspected to verify the reasons of crack propagation behavior in the corrosion fatigue fracture. In addition, the effect of cathodic protection in the fracture surface of weld zone was examined fractographically by Scanning Electron Microscope(S.E.M.). The main results obtained are as follows; (1) The initial corrosion fatigue crack sensitibity under specific resistance of 25Ω.cm% show 2.22 in the base metal and 19.6 in the HEZ, and the sensitivity decreases as specific resistance increases (2) By removing reinforcement of weldment, the initiation and propagation of corrosion crack in the HAZ are delayed, and corrosion fatigue life increases. (3) As specific resistance decreases, the sensitivity difference of corrosion fatigue life in the base metal and HAZ is more susceptible than that of intial corrosion fatigue crack. (4) Experimental constant, m(Paris' rule) in the marine environment is in the range of about 3.69 to 4.26, and as specific resistance increases, thje magnitude of experimental constant, also increases and the effect by corrosion decreases. (5) Comparing surface crack length with crack depth, the crack depth toward the thickness of specimen in air is more deeply propagated than that in corrosion environment. (6) The propagation particulars of corrosion fatigue crack for HAZ under initial stress intensity factor range of $\Delta$k sub(li) =27.2kgf.mm super(-3/2) and stress ratio of R=0 shows the retardative phenomenon of crack propagation by the plastic deformation at crack tip. (7) Number of stress cycles to corrosion fatigue crack initiation of the base metal and the welding heat affected zone are delayed by the cathodic protection under the natural sea water. The cathodic protection effect for corrosion fatigue crack initiation is eminent when the protection potential is -1100 mV(SCE). (8) When the protection potential E=-1100 mV(SCE), the corrosion fatigue crack propagation of welding heat affected zone is more rapid than that of the case without protection, because of the microfissure caused by welding heat cycle.

가속시험법을 활용한 자동차용 워터펌프 베어링의 수명특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Life Characteristic of an Automotive Water-pump Bearing Using the Accelerated Test Method)

  • A water-pump located in the cooling area of a car circulates cooling water. A particular bearing element, known as a water-pump bearing, installed in the rotating part carries the entire load. The failure of this water-pump bearing has a direct impact on the failure of the automobile engine, and so securing its reliability is crucial. Several researchers have examined the design principles of the water-pump bearing, but there are no reports on the life characteristic of the bearing yet. Herein, we report the construction of test equipment to reproduce the spalling of the roller contact, which is the main failure mode of the chosen water-pump bearing. We chose the radial load as an accelerated stress factor and validated the failure mode by monitoring the surface defects. We conducted the accelerated life test after determining the accelerated stress level through a combination of finite element analysis and a preliminary test. In the life tests, we used an accelerometer to perform failure diagnosis. In the last stage of this study, we present a statistical reliability analysis. Thus, we fully estimated the shape parameter of the water-pump bearing, accelerating level on the load , and the lifetime (MTTF and B10 life) under real use conditions, and finally proposed an interval estimation value considering the uncertainty of the estimated value.
