This study explored a mathematical modeling flow and the effect of interactions among students and between a student and Excel on modeling in a small group modeling environment with Excel. This is a case study of three 8th graders' modeling activity using Excel during their extra lessons. The conclusions drawn from this study are as follows: First, small group modeling using Excel was formed by formulating 4∼10 modeling cycles in each task. Students mainly formed tables and graphs and refined and simplified these models. Second, students mainly formed tables, algebraic formulas and graphs and refined tables considering each variable in detail by obtaining new data with inserting rows. In tables, students mainly explored many expected cases by changing the values of the parameters. In Graphs, students mainly identified a solution or confirmed the solution founded in a table. Meanwhile, students sometimes constructed graphs without a purpose and explored the problem situations by graphs mainly as related with searching a solution, identifying solutions that are found in the tables. Thus, the teacher's intervention is needed to help students use diverse representations properly in problem situations and explore floatingly and interactively using multi-representations that are connected numerically, symbolically and graphically. Sometimes students also perform unnecessary activities in producing data by dragging, searching a solution by 'trial and error' and exploring 'what if' modeling. It is considered that these unnecessary activities were caused by over-reliance on the Excel environment. Thus, the teacher's intervention is needed to complement the Excel environment and the paper-and-pencil environment properly.

The career stress of college students is a more serious problem caused by the difficulty of finding a job these days, and various management strategies are needed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of part-time job experience, social support, and ego-resilience on career stress in order to suggest ways to manage career stress. The subjects were 457 college students. Multiple regression analysis was used. First, there were no significant differences in ego-resilience, social support, and career stress according to the experience of part-time job. However, employment pressure, a sub-scale of career stress, was higher among college students who had part-time jobs. Second, the experience of part-time work had a significant effect on career stress. College students without a part-time job showed higher career stress than those who had. Third, the effect of social support on career stress was more effective for college students who did not have part-time jobs. Fourth, ego-resilience showed no effect on career stress. However, an interaction effect between the part-time job experience and gender was found. Based on these findings, college students without part-time work experience should be offered counseling management through social support and a program is needed to enhance ego-resilience in female students.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of the summer enrichment programs on Korean gifted students' science learning and creativity development. This program is organized by Purdue University Gilled Education Resource Institute (GERI) in U.S.A. Researchers conducted semi-structured interview with 6 Korean students and observed 12 Korean students and GERI teachers for teacher-student interaction and teaching strategies during science-related classes. From the results, GERI program developed from Purdue 3 stage enrichment model that emphasizes creative teaching strategies, group discussions, and individual research were effective to foster creative thinking of Korean gilled students. Despite their language barriers, Korean gilled students found GERI program experience fun, creative, easy, relaxing, and thereby satisfying for their psychological and academic needs. They expected the level of stimulation in GERI program to be higher and the class to be organized more systematically; however, they reported that the broad range of topics and diverse content of GERI classes helped them develop creativity more than Korean classes. These findings will make contribution to the improvement of the quality of gifted education curriculum and programming in Korea.
Buyers' Trust in suppliers is critical in all commerce, but particularly in the relationship between foreign provider and local consumer due to the liability of foreignness. This study examines (1)how local consumers trust in the product of MNCs is affected by their perceptions of the product attributes, (2)does the product trust affects customers loyalty, and (3)whether Global Corporate Citizenship moderates the relationship between the product attributes and trust. Based on previous researches, hypotheses are formulated and the statistical method used to test them was a moderated regression analysis using SPSS 20. 330 respondents from the university student group in Korea were used for this analysis. The results of this study are follows: Service communication and product perceptions such as quality, technological newness, design, and brand value have a significant effect on the product trust. The Effectiveness of product-related service communication had greater than that of the physical characteristics of product. But, price fairness is not significantly. The trust then has a positive relation to customers loyalty. When global corporate citizenship as the moderating role is introduced into the model, the interaction terms with 'price fairness' are verified to be significant. Therefore, global corporate citizenship moderates the relationship between price fairness and product trust. The results of the empirical study provide important implications for Korean firms operating in foreign markets. But, the findings are limited to the University students and to manufacturing sectors. Thus, the generalization of the results of this research remains limited.
As the service of mobile internet has been expended, student users are increase. The computers have been widely used in a education field as the teaching tool by improvement of the multimedia contents processing and user interface. The English learning using the computers in the restricted education environment provides motivations and effective learning to learners, but still have some problem such as teaching and evaluating without consideration for differences of individual levels. In order to solve the problems and take the advantages, we propose the intelligent tutoring system for english learning with mobile technology. Overcoming limitations of the mobile environment and using proper treacher's roles,. We have applied the conventional estimation method of the intellectual learner level for students. Also, we have proposed the diagnostic function in order to determine the method of teaching-learing and item disposition that each leaner prefers. Then we have designed and implemented the expert module, providing the feedback for teaching, of the intelligent turoring system for mobile english learning. This system will be able to support the interaction between teachers and students and replace some roles of teacher in the mobile english learning.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of parents support (PS), friends support (FS), and professor support (PS) of university students, and to examine the correlation between gender, social support, and university life satisfaction (ULS). The survey was conducted using 564 college students in Gangwon-do using a questionnaire consisting of 27 social support and 5 ULS. As a result, PS, FS, and PS showed positive answers, but the PS showed relatively negative answers and ULS was not high. And regardless of gender, there was a statistically significant correlation between PS, FS, PS and ULS (p<0.00). In the correlation of gender, PS, FS, PS, and ULS, there was a statistically significant correlation between PS, FS, PS and ULS without gender (p <0.00). In order to improve the ULS, it is necessary to promote interaction through systematic friends and professors as well as parents.

This study compares the perceptions of elementary gifted child and science teacher in a science class for the gifted. In order to explore the research problem, students and teachers answered a written semi-structured questionnaire and participated in interviews regarding the gifted science class. The data was collected and analyzed. Science teachers recognized the characteristics of a good science class, especially in terms of educational content and teaching methodology. First, they suggested promoting inquiry skills, presenting a challenging task in atypical topic selection, student-centered curriculum, and controlling the pace of learning to recognize individual differences. Second, in terms of the science class skills and attitudes category, teachers recommended raising mutual satisfaction through vigorous interaction within a permissible atmosphere. Finally, science teachers need to strive for continued professional growth. Gifted children, meanwhile, want to investigate a wide range of topics without time constraints. Additionally, they may have to explore challenging topics further. They prefer to act like scientists in that they enjoy group activities, communication and cooperation. In particular, they want to be evaluated by others in a totally embedded assessment. Gifted children also expect teachers to understand the life circumstances and needs of the students. In addition, they asked for teachers to respect individual experiments and to show them how to safely use new equipment or research methods. As a result, gifted children and science teachers have to recognize the differences of opinion concerning a good science class for the gifted. This study can help formulate strategies to establish quality management of materials in gifted science classes.

In scientific argumentation, students can use rebuttals to escape uncertainty, which, in this case, can be defined as a vague and fuzzy feeling about other students' explanations. As rebuttals can play a critical role in the sophistication of arguments and the alleviation of uncertainty, this study aims to understand the dynamics of uncertainty and rebuttals by exploring the context of the uncertainty experienced by elementary school students in the argumentation of "Why did the kidney beans not germinate?" and to get insights based on the research results. Twenty fourth-grade students and their homeroom teacher in Kyong-Ki province, South Korea, took part in the research. Students engaged in argumentation in five small groups of four students. The researcher collected qualitative data through video transcriptions, student interviews, and field notes. In the data analysis, the researcher employed the constant comparative method to explore in what context students experienced uncertainty and how they used rebuttals. The results of this study were as follows: First, students tried to reduce their uncertainty through argumentation on why the kidney beans did not germinate. Second, students used elaboration-oriented rebuttals, personal opinion-oriented rebuttals, and blame-oriented rebuttals to reduce this uncertainty. However, when they used blame-oriented rebuttals, their uncertainty and negative emotions increased. Third, intervention by the teacher led students to stop using blame-oriented rebuttals. Instead, they employed elaboration-oriented rebuttals to explore why the kidney beans would not sprout, and finally, they escaped uncertainty by discovering an appropriate explanation. Based on the findings of this study, the researcher discussed how the interaction between uncertainty and elaboration-oriented rebuttals could shape and facilitate argument development in elementary school students.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of variables such as student participation and activities on university students' university satisfaction and loyalty. And the implications of this study are as follows. First, students' aptitude coincidence has a positive effect on students' activities in university. And also, the attitude of class is positively related to school activities, Second, the participation of college students in school events has a positive effect on friendship, job related behavior, and university satisfaction. The friendship of college students has a positive effect on the loyalty of university satisfaction university. and job related behavior also has positive effects on university satisfaction and university loyalty. Past marketing studies have proved that interactivity among consumers is an important factor for consumers to engage in service. In college, as well, it is found that positive interaction and friendship among students are important influences on school satisfaction. The higher satisfaction of the university, the higher the intention to recommend the school. Therefore, in order to enhance the recommendation of graduates or students, it is important to satisfy the students, and this can be accomplished by management of antecedent variables that this study suggested.

The lack of an understanding of the characteristics and searching abilities of a specific user group in computer-based information systems in libraries hinders library and information science professionals in making the best decisions when designing, acquiring, and managing information systems. The objective of this study was to provide information on the characteristics and searching abilities of specific groups such as Korean college students & ones who study abroad, male & female, undergraduate & graduate students, etc. This study also has focused on the methods of loaming to use OPACs and non-user study. Questionnaire was administered to both Korean college students in the city of Taegu, Korea and students who study abroad in the state of Texas, US.A. 345 usable questionnaires were obtained and analyzed. These were analyzed using descriptive, inferential statistics, multiple correlation, and SPSS software. The. major findings of this study are: (1) There was a significant difference among specific student user groups except undergraduate and artiste-athlete students in the distribution of their knowledge about how to use OPACs: (2) There was a significant difference among specific groups in the means of their knowledge: (3) There was no significant difference among un. groups in the distribution of loaming method to use OPAC systems : (4) The correlation between the number of searching methods that the respondents knew in using OPACS and the amount of using computers (0.6635) is comparatively higher than my other correlation to the searching methods. Also, years of experience using computers, frequencies of computer use, and frequencies of OPAC use are comparatively higher than frequencies of library use and frequencies of manual card catalog un: (5) Frequencies of manual card catalog use have low negative correlations with the number of searching methods that the respondents knew in using OPACs: (6) Frequencies of manual card catalog use have little if any negative negative with OPAC and computer use. Conclusions are drawn from the findings in this paper, and recommendations an proposed when designing, adopting, or managing a new system. Topics fur future studies on the characteristics of OPAC systems and their use are also suggested.
