  • As more than 80 percent of tasks within corporations are performed through information systems, they have become large in scale and complicated, which make the range of the system users diverse and specialized. and as recent corporate strategies focus on the real-time environment in businesses, the organizational structure within companies tend to show frequent changes. In order to ensure the business continuity in this environment, the most important aspect is to prevent incompleteness of business by narrowing the gap of understanding of business process between the system users and the maintenance managers. In order to address this problem, this study suggests a modeling method that utilizes business scenarios reflecting actual business rules and procedures which ultimately transforms the optimized and standardized form of business scenarios into the actual software maintenance activities. This modeling method improves reusability and usability through the repeated feedback mechanism for modified software by leading to gradual fine-grained process. The feasibility of this is to be proven by applying the modeling method to the real business environment.

  • Besides promising implications as fertile nuclear materials, thorium carbonitrides are of great interest owing to their peculiar physical and chemical properties, such as high density, high melting point, good thermal conductivity. This paper reports first-principles simulation results on the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of cubic thorium carbonitrides $ThC_xN_{(1-x)}$ (X = 0.03125, 0.0625, 0.09375, 0.125, 0.15625) employing formalism of density-functional-theory. For the simulation of physical properties, we incorporated full-potential linearized augmented plane-wave (FPLAPW) method while the exchange-correlation potential terms in Kohn-Sham Equation (KSE) are treated within Generalized-Gradient-Approximation (GGA) in conjunction with Perdew-Bruke-Ernzerhof (PBE) correction. The structural parameters were calculated by fitting total energy into the Murnaghan's equation of state. The lattice constants, bulk moduli, total energy, electronic band structure and spin magnetic moments of the compounds show dependence on the C/N concentration ratio. The electronic and magnetic properties have revealed non-magnetic but metallic character of the compounds. The main contribution to density of states at the Fermi level stems from the comparable spectral intensity of Th (6d+5f) and (C+N) 2p states. In comparison with spin magnetic moments of ThSb and ThBi calculated earlier with LDA+U approach, we observed an enhancement in the spin magnetic moments after carbon-doping into ThN monopnictide.

  • In this study, we modified CT images of femoral head in consideration of anatomically meaningful structure, proposing the method to augment the training data of convolution Neural network for segmentation of femur mesh model. First, the femur mesh model is obtained from the CT image. Then divide the mesh model into meaningful parts by using cluster analysis on geometric characteristic of mesh surface. Finally, transform the segments by using an appropriate mesh deformation algorithm, then create new CT images by warping CT images accordingly. Deep learning models using the data enhancement methods of this study show better image division performance compared to data augmentation methods which have been commonly used, such as geometric conversion or color conversion.

  • Wireless sensor networks encounter energy saving as a major issue as the sensor nodes having no rechargeable batteries and also the resources are limited. Clustering of sensors play a pivotal role in energy saving of the deployed sensor nodes. However, in the cluster based wireless sensor network, the cluster heads tend to consume more energy for additional functions such as reception of data, aggregation and transmission of the received data to the base station. So, careful selection of cluster head and formation of cluster plays vital role in energy conservation and enhancement of lifetime of the wireless sensor networks. This study proposes a new mutation chemical reaction optimization (MCRO) which is an algorithm based energy efficient clustering protocol termed as MCRO-ECP, for wireless sensor networks. The proposed protocol is extensively developed with effective methods such as potential energy function and molecular structure encoding for cluster head selection and cluster formation. While developing potential functions for energy conservation, the following parameters are taken into account: neighbor node distance, base station distance, ratio of energy, intra-cluster distance, and CH node degree to make the MCRO-ECP protocol to be potential energy conserver. The proposed protocol is studied extensively and tested elaborately on NS2.35 Simulator under various senarios like varying the number of sensor nodes and CHs. A comparative study between the simulation results derived from the proposed MCRO-ECP protocol and the results of the already existing protocol, shows that MCRO-ECP protocol produces significantly better results in energy conservation, increase network life time, packets received by the BS and the convergence rate.

  • Recently, problems with excessive vibration of the radar masts of large bulk carriers and crude oil tankers have frequently been reported. This paper explores a design method to avoid the resonance of a radar mast installed on a large ship using various design of experiment (DOE) methods. A local vibration test was performed during an actual sea trial to determine the excitation sources of the vibration related to the resonant frequency of the radar mast. DOE methods such as the orthogonal array (OA) and Latin hypercube design (LHD) methods were used to analyze the Pareto effects on the radar mast vibration. In these DOE methods, the main vibration performances such as the natural frequency and weight of the radar mast were set as responses, while the shape and thickness of the main structural members of the radar mast were set as design factors. From the DOE-based Pareto effect results, we selected the significant structural members with the greatest influence on the vibration characteristics of the radar mast. Full factorial design (FFD) was applied to verify the Pareto effect results of the OA and LHD methods. The design of the main structural members of the radar mast to avoid resonance was reviewed, and a normal mode analysis was performed for each design using the finite element method. Based on the results of this normal mode analysis, we selected a design case that could avoid the resonance from the major excitation sources. In addition, a modal test was performed on the determined design to verify the normal mode analysis results.

  • The government is continuously expanding its national R&D investment to actively respond to the advent of the $4^{th}$ industrial revolution era and to develop the national economy. The R&D structure is likely to be liberalized as the paradigm shifts from the pursuit type R&D to the leading type R&D, and R&D capacity enhancement that focuses on researchers' creativity is emphasized. Such changes in R&D environment will increase the risk of security accidents such as leakage of research information. In addition, security policy for protection of research result should be the Researcher-Centric Security and security policy should be changed. This study explored transforming the research security system into the Researcher-Centric Security system so that researchers can voluntarily implement necessary security measures in the course of conducting research.

  • This paper presents a review on progressive collapse mechanism of steel framed buildings exposed to fire. The influence of load ratios, strength of structural members (beam, column, slab, connection), fire scenarios, bracing systems, fire protections on the collapse mode and collapse time of structures is comprehensively reviewed. It is found that the key influencing factors include load ratio, fire scenario, bracing layout and fire protection. The application of strong beams, high load ratios, multi-compartment fires will lead to global downward collapse which is undesirable. The catenary action in beams and tensile membrane action in slabs contribute to the enhancement of structural collapse resistance, leading to a ductile collapse mechanism. It is recommended to increase the reinforcement ratio in the sagging and hogging region of slabs to not only enhance the tensile membrane action in the slab, but to prevent the failure of beam-to-column connections. It is also found that a frame may collapse in the cooling phase of compartment fires or under travelling fires. This is because that the steel members may experience maximum temperatures and maximum displacements under these two fire scenarios. An edge bay fire is more prone to induce the collapse of structures than a central bay fire. The progressive collapse of buildings can be effectively prevented by using bracing systems and fire protections. A combination of horizontal and vertical bracing systems as well as increasing the strength and stiffness of bracing members is recommended to enhance the collapse resistance. A protected frame dose not collapse immediately after the local failure but experiences a relatively long withstanding period of at least 60 mins. It is suggested to use three-dimensional models for accurate predictions of whether, when and how a structure collapses under various fire scenarios.

  • A number of algorithms for improving the image quality of low light images have been studied using a single image or multiple exposure images. The low light image is low in contrast and has a large amount of noise, which limits the identification of information of the subject. This paper proposes the hardware design of algorithms that improve the quality of low light image using 2 multiple exposure images taken with a dual camera. The proposed hardware structure is designed in real time processing in a way that does not use frame memory and line memory using transfer function. The proposed hardware design has been designed using Verilog and validated in Modelsim. Finally, when the proposed algorithm is implemented on FPGA using xc7z045-2ffg900 as the target board, the maximum operating frequency is 167.617MHz. When the image size is 1920x1080, the total clock cycle time is 2,076,601 and can be processed in real time at 80.7fps.

  • This paper presents a single image haze removal method via a pixel-based joint BDCP (bright and dark channel prior) and a hierarchical bilateral filter in order to reduce computational complexity and memory requirement while improving the dehazing performance. Pixel-based joint BDCP reduces the computational complexity compared to the patch-based DCP, while making it possible to estimate the atmospheric light in pixel unit and the transmission more accurately. Moreover the bilateral filter, which can smooth an image effectively while preserving edges, refines the transmission to reduce the halo effects, and its hierarchical structure applied to edges only prevents the increase of complexity from the iterative application. Experimental results on various hazy images show that the proposed method exhibits excellent haze removal performance with low computational complexity compared to the conventional methods, and thus it can be applied in various fields.

  • $Lu(Nb,Ta)O_4:Eu^{3+}$ powders are synthesized by a solid-state reaction process using LiCl and $Li_2SO_4$ fluxes. The photoluminescence (PL) excitation spectra of the synthesized powders consist of broad bands at approximately 270 nm and sharp peaks in the near ultraviolet region, which are assigned to the $Nb^{5+}-O^{2-}$ charge transfer of $[NbO_4]^{3-}$ niobates and the f-f transition of $Eu^{3+}$, respectively. The PL emission spectra exhibit red peaks assigned to the $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_J$ transitions of $Eu^{3+}$. The strongest peak is obtained at 614 nm ($^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$), indicating that the $Eu^{3+}$ ions are incorporated into the $Lu^{3+}$ asymmetric sites. The addition of fluxes causes the increase in emission intensity, and $Li_2SO_4$ flux is more effective for enhancement in emission intensity than is LiCl flux. The substitution of $Ta^{5+}$ for $Nb^{5+}$ results in an increase or decrease in the emission intensity of $LuNb_{1-x}Ta_xO_4:Eu^{3+}$ powders, depending on amount and kind of flux. The findings are explained using particle morphology, modification of the $[NbO_4]^{3-}$ structure, formation of substructure of $LuTaO_4$, and change in the crystal field surrounding the $Eu^{3+}$ ions.
