The purpose of this study was to investigate how parenting and peer relationships influence the development of adolescent self-concept by using Structural Equation Modeling(SEM). The subjects were 198 first graders (94 male and 104 female) from four high schools within the Seoul area. Descriptive and comparative statistical analysis was conducted with SPSS (Version10.0), while AMOS (Version 4.0) was used to assess structural equation modelling of parenting, peer relationship and the self-concept. Results showed that, in terms of correlation, more positive parenting behaviors induced more positive self-concept. In addition, better peer relationships demonstrated more positive self-concept. Regression analysis showed that peer relationships explained the variance in adolescents' self-concept more effectively than parenting behavior. This was confirmed by the SEM.

Most of tall apartment buildings constructed in our county are wall-type R/C structures composed of hear walls and slabs. It is necessary to evaluate of hysteretic properties of shear walls in wall-type R/C structures which resist lateral loads as well as axial loads. In this study, first to evaluate the wall's hysteretic behavior nonlinear analyses with IDARC 4.0 are performed for eight specimens subjected to horizontal load reversals. As a result of nonlinear analyses of specimens we can obtain three parameters which determined the hysteretic parameters such as stiffness degrading, strength deterioration and inching behavior respectively. With this three parameters, strength and deformation capacity of 5, 10, 20-story shear wall of apartment building is estimated from the results of push-over analysis.

The kinematic and complicance characteristics of torsion beam axle is structurally related to the location and section profile of torsion beam and the span from body mounting point to wheel center. This paper presents the effect of section properties in torsion beam on the structural characteristics and roll behavior of suspension. The structural characteristics is on the maximum stress on the welding area of torsion beam and the roll behavior is on roll steer and roll-camber of suspension which are important for controllability and stability in cornering. Four factors are used for the section design of torsion beam, which are thickness , midline length, are inner radius, and sector half angle . Through the structural and quasi-static analysis made for six torsion beam axle models, it can be noticed that roll steer and the structural durability of suspension are closely related to warping constant and shear center in section properties of torsion beam.
Cracked reinforced concrete in compression has been observed to exhibit lower strength and stiffness than uniaxially compressed concrete. The so-called compression softening effect responsible is thought to be related to the degree of transverse cracking and straining present. It significantly affects the strength, ductility and load-deformation response of a concrete element. A number of experimental investigations have been undertaken to determine the degree of softening that occurs, and the factors that affect it. At the same time, a number of diverse analytical models have been proposed by various this behavior. In this paper, the softened truss model thoery for low-rise structural shearwalls is employed using the principle of the stress and strain transformations. Using this theory the softening parameters for the concrete struts proposed by Hsu and Belarbi as well as by Vecchio and Collins are examined by 51 test shearwalls available in literature. It is found that the experimental shear strengths and ductilities of the walls under static loads are, in average, very close to the theoretical values; however, the experiment shear strengths and ductilities of the walls under dynamic loads with a low (0.2 Hz) frequency are generally less than the theoretical values.
The paper presents a study regarding rubber compressibility behavior. The objective is to analyze the effect of compression degree of rubber on its mechanical properties and propose a new methodology based on reverse engineering to predict compressibility degree based on uniaxial stretching test and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). In general, rubbers are considered to be almost incompressible and Poisson's ratio is close to 0.5. Since this property is intimately related to the rubber packing density, little changes in Poisson's ratio can lead to significant changes regarding mechanical behavior. The deviatory hyperelastic constants were obtained through experimental data fitting by least squares method for the most relevant constitutive models implemented in commercial software Abaqus, such as: Neo-Hooke, Mooney-Rivlin, Ogden, Yeoh and Arruda-Boyce, whereas the hydrostatic part was determined through an optimization algorithm implemented in the Abaqus environment by Python scripting. The simulation results presented great influence of the Poisson's ratio in the rubber specimen mechanical behavior mainly for high strain levels. A conventional pure volumetric compression test was also carried out in order to compare the results obtained by the proposed methodology.

Girder bridges and slab bridges are equipped with a system consisting of a flexible joint unit, support, inverted T shaped abutment, and a separate connecting slab structure. These systems have problems such as an increase in cost due to frequent breakage of the expansion joints and a decrease in durability due to a structure with low moment redistribution. To improve these problems, propose Inegral and Semi-Integral Hybrid Slab Bridge and examine the safety through structural analysis. As a result of the review, Inegral and Semi-Integral Hybrid Slab Bridge was the section stiffness is small. but it is confirmed that the structural safety, ductility and flexibility are higher than existing bridges because the moment redistribution and the force transmission are surely performed.

For a fixed jacket type offshore structure directly supported by the seabed, the structural behavior of offshore structure depends on the soil properties. Soil properties affect on the stiffness of the piles and the boundary condition in the structural analysis. The structural analysis is performed using PSI (Pile-Soil Interaction) suggested in the code and design rule. PSI analysis of the jacket structure is carried out after various soil types are selected according to the soil properties like internal friction angle, undrained shear strength, unit weight and so on. Three types of soil are selected by varying strength for a clay and sand, respectively. The structural analysis of the jacket structure is performed using these soils. The results about axial and lateral reaction force and the stress and displacement on the structure are compared. As a results, the structural response is smaller as the soil becomes more stiff. In conclusion, it is confirmed that the structural response of fixed jacket type offshore platform supported by seabed is sensitive to the change of soil properties.

Recently, small and medium-sized rahmen-type bridges have been developed as a technology that ensures the stability of structural behavior and the safety of use at the same time by using efficient and economical materials that make up the convergence section of reinforced bar, structural steel and concrete. This study is about a rahmen-type structure applied with the installation and dismantling of the strut. It improves the serviceability of the structure by forming multi-points and efficiently applies the convergence section of structural steel and concrete materials to the structural system changes to induce the displacement improvement effect additionally. By constructing mock-up models for the beam-column joint, the displacement was calculated and compared, and this was compared and analyzed by numerical analysis. The final displacement showed an improvement effect of 13.46% to 36.28% based on the vertical displacement of the existing structure without struts through the experiment of the mock-up models. As a result of analysis by numerical analysis method, the displacement improvement effect of 42.89% could be derived.
Earthquake excitations may induce important amount of seismic energy into structures. Current design philosophy mainly deals with the plastic deformations of replaceable energy dissipating devices rather than damages accumulated on structural members. Since earthquake damage is substantially concentrated on these devices they could be replaced after severe earthquakes. In this study, the efficiency of steel cushion (SC) on seismic improvement of a vulnerable reinforced concrete (RC) frame is determined by means of several numerical simulations. The cyclic shear behaviors of SCs were determined by performing quasi-static tests. The test results were the main basis of the theoretical model of SCs which were used in the numerical analysis. These analyses were performed on three types of RC frames namely bare frame (BF), full-braced frame (F-BF) and semi-braced frame (S-BF). According to analysis results; implementation of SCs has considerable effects in reducing the storey shear forces and storey drifts. Moreover plastic energy demands of structural elements were reduced which indicates a significant improvement in seismic behavior of the RC frame preventing damage accumulation on structural elements. Full-braced frame having SCs with the thickness of 25 mm has better performance than semi-braced frame interms of energy dissipation. However, global energy dissipation demand of S-BF and F-BF having SCs with the thickness of 18 mm are almost similar.

The neural net application was tried to develop the technique for monitoring the health status of a steel truss bridge which was scaled down to 1/15 of the real bridge for the laboratory experiments. The damage scenarios were chosen as 7 cases. The dynamic behavior, which was changed due to the breakage of the members, of the bridge was investigated by finite element analysis. The bridge consists of single spam, and eight (8) main structural subsystems. The loading vehicle, which weighs as 100 kgf, was operated by the servo-motor controller. The accelerometers were bonded on the surface of 7 cross-beams to measure the dynamic behavior induced by the abnormal structural condition. Artificial neural network technique was used to determine the severity of the damage. At first, the neural net was learnt by the results of finite element analysis, and also, the maximum detection error was 3.65 percents. Another neural net was also learnt, and verified by the experimental results, and in this case, the maximum detection error was 1.05 percents. In future study, neural net is necessary to be learnt and verified by various data from the real bridge.
