Reducing the noise and vibration of the BLDC motors is very essential for some special applications. In this paper, a new structural design is introduced to increase the natural frequencies of the stator in BLDC motors as increasing the natural frequencies can reduce the severe effects of the structural resonances, including high levels of noise and vibration. The design is based on placing a single hole on definite regions at the stator cross sectional area (each region contains one tooth and its upper parts in the stator yoke) in an optimum way by which the natural frequencies at different modes are shifted to the higher values. The optimum diameter and locations for the holes are extracted by the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and the modal analyses in the iterative process are done by Finite Element Method (FEM). Moreover, the motor performance by the optimum stator structure is analyzed by FEM and compared with the prototype motor. Preventing the stator magnetic saturation and the motor cogging torque enhancement are the two constraints of the optimization problem. The optimal structural design method is applied experimentally and the validity of the design method is confirmed by the simulated and experimental results.
The '凸'-shaped, the '呂'-shaped and the hexagonal-shaped pit houses were excavated at the Youngdong area, some location along the upper the Imjin River and Han River between the Iron age and the kingdom of Hanseong Baekje. The aim of this study is to analyze various structural system and developement of the pit house with rectangular plan. It is considered a matter in all its aspects which are plan, scale, aspect, pillar holes, carbonized wood and several traces. These pit houses removes the pillar on the inside or it reduces to secure a wider space, it pursued the chamfered corner, the change of the front, the entrance fixed. Also these adopted diverse structural systems(the chuandou structure, the structural system of columns and beams and a bearing wall). But in the course of time, the Korean wooden architecture is developed gradually the structural system of columns and beams. It is presumed the result that overcome the limit with the close space and pursue the flowing space and compose a group of organizable buildings.

The paper deals with the problem related to the modelling of riveted assemblies for crashworthiness analysis of full-scale complete aircraft structures. Comparisons between experiments and standard FE computations on high-energy accidental situations onto aluminium riveted panels show that macroscopic plastic strains are not sufficiently localised in the FE shells connected to rivet elements. The main reason is related to the structural embrittlement caused by holes, which are currently not modelled. Consequently, standard displacement FE models do not succeed in initialising and propagating the rupture in sheet metal plates and along rivet rows as observed in the experiments. However, the literature survey show that it is possible to formulate super-elements featuring defects that both give accurate singular strain fields and are compatible with standard displacement finite elements. These super-elements can be related to the displacement model of the hybrid-Trefftz principle of the finite element method, which is a kind of domain decomposition method. A feature of hybrid-Trefftz finite elements is that they are mainly used for elastic computations. It is thus proposed to investigate the possibility of formulating a hybrid displacement finite element, including the effects of a hole, dedicated to crashworthiness analysis of full-scale aeronautic structures.

Heat is a familiar form of energy transported from a hot side to a colder side of an object, but not a notion associated with microscopic measurements of electronic properties. A temperature difference within a material causes charge carriers, electrons or holes, to diffuse along the temperature gradient inducing a thermoelectric voltage. Here we show that local thermoelectric measurements can yield high sensitivity imaging of structural disorder on the atomic and nanometre scales. Using this imaging technique, we discovered a defect-mediated dimensional evolution of strain-response patterns in epitaxial graphene with increasing thickness.
When femtosecond laser pulses are focused inside the bulk of transparent materials, the intensity in the focal volume becomes high enough to produce permanent structural modifications. This technique has been applied to fabricate three-dimensional photonic structures such as optical memory, waveguides, gratings, and couplers inside a wide variety of transparent materials. In this paper, we review the fabrication of optical elements in glasses with femtosecond laser pulses, including the fabrication of waveguides, couplers, Bragg gratings, zone plates, holographic memory, and micro holes.
We propose a photonic quasi-crystal fiber (PQF) for supporting up to 14 orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes with low and ultra-flat dispersion characteristics over the C+L bands. The designed PQF which consists of a large hollow center and quasi structural small air holes in the clad region exhibits low confinement losses and a large effective index separation (>$10^{-4}$) between the vector modes. This proposed fiber could potentially be exploited for mode division multiplexing and other OAM mode applications in fibers.
The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of ultrasonic bath in tissue preparation for transmission electron microscopy. The method used standard reagents and media, and employed ultrasonic bath agitation to accelerate fluid exchange. The liver kidney, stomach and cardiac muscle tissues of male Sprague-Dawley rats were used for the experiment, and the experimental design was divided into 4 groups; The control group using rotators (Traditional method, 1,625 mins) and the three experimental groups using ultrasonic bath (UB) in the primary fixation through the infiltration processes (UB I; 62.5 mins, UB II; 125 mins, UB III; 250 mins). The results were as follows; 1. In the control group, tissues were easily sectioned, and showed well preserved intact membranes, and cell organelles such as mitochondria, lysosome, peroxisome, rough endoplasmic reticulum and smooth endoplasmic reticulum. 2. In the UB treated group I, tissues showed holes due to the inadequate removal of both water and fluids used in the dehydration process. Also the mitochondria of cell organelles, especially, showed swollen intracristal spaces and dense matrices due to poor fixation. 3. In the UB treated group II, tissues showed good preservation of cell organelles and specimen slice sections. Also, no holes were observed. 4. In the UB treated group III, tissues showed leaching of structural components in the cytoplasm, but no holes were observed. In conclusion, the ultrasonic bath procedure takes approximately 120 minutes from specimen fixation to resin infiltration and gives excellent results.
A comprehensive study was provided to investigate the buckling behavior of the steel plates with and without through-thickness holes subjected to uniaxial compression using ABAQUS. The method was validated by the results reported in the literature. Using the critical stresses, the buckling coefficients ($K_c$) were calculated. The effects of inclusion of material nonlinearity, plate thickness (t), aspect ratio (AR), and initial imperfection on buckling resistance of the plate was studied. Besides, the effects of having the hole in the plate were also studied. The diameter of the hole was normalized by dividing by plate breadth and was given in the form of ${\alpha}$. Results showed that perforating one hole in the center of a plate increases the plate buckling resistance while the having two holes resulted in a decrease in the plate buckling resistance. The effects of hole eccentricity (Ecc) on the buckling resistance of the plate was studied. The position of the hole center was normalized by half of the plate breadth and length in X- and Y-directions, respectively. In this study, four cases of boundary conditions were considered, and the corresponding buckling behavior were studied combined with plate aspect ratio. It was observed that the boundary condition of the case I resulted in the highest buckling resistance. Finally, a comparison was made between the buckling behavior of the uniaxially and biaxially loaded plate. It was revealed that the buckling resistance of a biaxially loaded plate is lower half than half of that of the uniaxially loaded plate.
many plumbing system are needed in the ceiling of the building as it becomes advanced more and more. This leads to make effective space between ceiling level and slab less. Also, piping system is not suitably arranged and operated if it is bent around the columns which they are a lot. But this system can be more effective if it passes through the columns directly. Most people think that those columns should not be damaged with such as holes. But actually this is existed in a hotel building in switzerland. This study is to fing out how much capacity the columns become damaged and low using model size of $20cm{\times}30cm$ rectangular section, and 160cm long, in the structural test. it's compressive strength is focused on $240kg/cm^{2}$ design strength, commonly used in korea. Compressive test for them was done at Hanyang University using UTM one thousand tone(1000t) capacity. Variable numbers for the study are one hole of dia 3cm with distance 20cm or 40cm, two holes of dia 3cm with 20cm and 40cm distance, one hole of dia 5cm with distance 20cm and 40cm, two holes of dia 5cm with 20cm and 40cm distance, me eccentric hole with 20cm and 40cm distance, Normal(without hole). two test specimens of each variable are made for the test. ED5H20 capacity was 16.7% decreased, compared to normal one. While ED5H40 distant 40cm from the end of column top showed 19.5% capacity decrease, compared to normal one. Strain of ED5H20 diameter 5cm, in distance of 20cm form the top of the column was less 5% than the one of diameter 3cm. Finally, conclusions are that in case of hole diameter 3cm, located at 20cm from the end of the column top, capacity was decreased down to 3, percent only compared to the same diameter hole with 20cm distant from the end of it.

The initiation and growth of short fatigue cracks in the simulated aircraft structure with a series of rivet holes was detected by acoustic emission (AE). The location and the size of short tracks were determined by AE source location techniques and the measurement with traveling microscope. AE events increased intermittently with the initiation and growth of short cracks to form a stepwise increment curve of cumulative AE events. For the precise determination of AE source locations, a region-of-interest (ROI) was set around the rivet holes based on the plastic zone size in fracture mechanics. Since the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) was very low at this early stage of fatigue cracks, the accuracy of source location was also enhanced by the wavelet transform do-noising. In practice, the majority of AE signals detected within the ROI appeared to be noise from various origins. The results showed that the effort of structural geometry and SNR should be closely taken into consideration for the accurate evaluation of fatigue damage in the structure.
