In this study, two types of aggregate were used for making self-compacting concrete. Standard cubic specimens were exposed to different temperatures. Seventy-two standard cylindrical specimens ($150{\times}300mm$) and Seventy-two cubic specimens (150 mm) were tested. Compressive strengths of the manufactured specimens at $23^{\circ}C$ were about 33 MPa to 40 MPa. The variable parameters among the self-compacting concrete specimens were of sand stone type. The specimens were exposed to 23, 100, 200, 400, 600, and $800^{\circ}C$ and their mechanical specifications were controlled. The heated specimens were subjected to the unconfined compression test with a quasi-static loading rate. The corresponding stress-strain curves and modulus of elasticity were compared. The results showed that, at higher temperatures, Scoria aggregate showed less sensitivity than ordinary aggregate. The concrete made with Scoria aggregate exhibited less strain. The heated self-compacting concrete had similar slopes before and after the peak. In fact, increasing heat produced gradual symmetrical stress-strain diagram span.

In this study, the physical and mechanical properties of steel fiber reinforced lightweight polymer concrete were investigated experimentally with various steel fiber contents. All tests were performed at room temperature, and stress-strain curve and load-deflection curve were plotted up to failure. The unit weight of steel fiber reinforced lightweight polymer concrete was in the range of $1,020{\sim}1,160\;kg/m^3$, which was approximately $50\%$ of that of the ordinary polymer concrete, The compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural toughness and flexural load-deflection curves after maximum load were shown with increase of steel fiber content. The stress-strain curves of steel fiber reinforced lightweight polymer concrete were bilinear in nature with a small transition zone, Based on these results, steel fiber reinforced lightweight polymer concrete can be widely applied to the polymer composite products.
Low cycle fatigue tests on the hydrogenated welding seam of Zr-Sn-Nb alloy at room temperature and 360 ℃ had been carried out by using the funnel-shaped flat specimens. The relationships between nominal stress & strain directly measured across the funnel and local stress & strain at the root of the funnel are given by considering cyclic plasticity correction. The results show that the fatigue resistance of welding seam at room temperature is only slightly better than that at 360 ℃. Probabilistic fatigue life curves are obtained by using a two-parameter power function.
The purpose of this study is to examine the bulk/sheet forming characteristics of bulk amorphous alloys in the super cooled liquid state. Recently it is reported that amorphous alloys exhibit stress overshoot/undershoot and non-Newtonian behaviors even in the super cooled liquid state. The stress-strain curves with the temperature-dependences as well as strain-rate dependence of Newtonian/non-Newtonian viscosities of amorphous alloys are obtained based on the previous experimental works. Then, those curves are directly used in the thermo-mechanical finite element analyses. Upsetting and deep drawing of amorphous alloys are simulated to examine the effects of process parameters such as friction coefficient, forming speed and temperature. It could be concluded that the superior formability of an amorphous alloy can be obtained by taking the proper forming conditions.
The use of ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) in composite columns offers numerous structural benefits, and has received recent research attention. However, the information regarding the behavior of steel tube confined concrete (STCC) columns employing UHPC has been extremely limited. Thus, this paper presents an overview of previous experimental studies on circular STCC columns with taking into account various concrete strengths to point out their distinctive features. The effect of the confinement factor and the diameter to thickness ratio on both strength and ductility in circular STCC columns employing UHPC was investigated. The applicability of current design codes such as EC4, AISC, AIJ and some available analytical models for concrete confined by steel tube was also validated by the comparison of ultimate loads between the prediction and the test results of Schneider (2006) and Xiong (2012). To predict the stress-strain curves for confined UHPC in circular STCC stub columns, a simplified model was proposed and verified by the comparison with experimental stress-strain curves.
The changes of plastic plateau in the stress-strain curves of annealed polypropylene (PP) films during stretching under room temperature were followed and the corresponding melting properties and microstructure were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found that during stretching the plastic plateau disappeared progressively with the increase of drawing ratio. At the same time, the endotherm plateau in DSC curves also disappeared progressively. The presence of the plastic plateau was attributed to the stretching of unstable crystalline part which was formed by tie chains around initial row-nucleated lamellae structure during annealing. During stretching, the unstable part was stretched and converted to bridges connecting separated lamellae. There was direct relationship between the disappearance of plastic plateau and pore formation.

Fracture resistance (J-R) curves, which are used for elastic-plastic fracture mechanics analyses, decreased under tension-compression loading condition. This phenomenon was proved by several former researches, but the causes have not been clear yet. The objective of this paper is to investigate the cause of this phenomenon. On the basis of fracture resistance curve test results, strain hardening hypothesis, stress redistribution hypothesis and crack opening hypothesis were built. In this study, hardness tests, Automated Ball Indentation(ABI) tests, theoretical stress field analyses, and crack opening analyses were performed to prove the hypotheses. From this study, strain-hardening of material, generation of tensile residual stress at crack tip, and crack opening effects are proved as the causes of the decrease hypothesis.
In the present study an elastic-plastic strain analysis is carried out for fibrous composites by using numerical modeling. Application of homogeneous transversely-isotropic model was chosen based on problem solution of a square plate with a circular hole under uniaxial tension. The results obtained in this study correspond to the solution of fiber model trial problem, as well as to analytical solution. Further, numerical algorithm and software has been developed, based on simplified theory of small elastic strains for transversely-isotropic bodies, and FEM. The influence of holes and cracks on stress state of complicated configuration transversely-isotropic bodies has been studied. Strain curves and plasticity zones that are formed in vicinity of the concentrators has been provided. Numerical values of effective mechanical parameters calculated for unidirectional composites at different ratios of fiber volume content and matrix. Content volume proportions of fibers and matrix defined for fibrous composite material that enables to behave as elastic-plastic body or as a brittle material. The influences of the fibrous structure on stress concentration in vicinity of holes on boron/aluminum D16, used as an example.
This paper discusses a new formulation for the failure strain in the average stress triaxiaility domain for a low-temperature high-strength steel (EH36). The new formula available at a low average stress triaxiality zone is proposed based on the comparison of two results from tensile tests of flat type specimens and their numerical simulations. In order to confirm the validity of the failure strain formulation, a user-subroutine was developed using Abaqus/Explicit, which is known to be one of the most popular commercial finite element analysis codes. Numerical fracture simulations with the user-subroutine were conducted for all the tensile tests. A comparison of the engineering stress-strain curves and engineering failure strain obtained from the numerical simulation with the user-subroutine for the tensile tests revealed that the newly developed user-subroutine effectively predicts the initiation of failure.

Evaluation of the elevated temperature flow stress for thermoplastic fiber metal laminates(TFMLs) sheet, comprised of two aluminum sheets in the exterior layers and a self-reinforced polypropylene(SRPP) in the interior layer, was conducted. The flow stress as a function of temperature should be evaluated prior to the actual forming of these materials. The flow stress can be obtained experimentally by uniaxial tensile tests or analytically by deriving a flow stress model. However, the flow stress curve of TFMLs cannot be predicted properly by existing flow stress models because the deformation with temperature of these types of materials is different from that of a generic pure metallic material. Therefore, the flow stress model, which includes the effect of the temperature, should be carefully identified. In the current study, the flow stress of TFMLs were first predicted by using existing flow stress models such as Hollomon, Ludwik, and Johnson-Cook models. It is noted that these existing models could not effectively predict the flow stress. Flow stress models such as the modified Hollomon and modified Ludwik model were proposed with respect to temperatures of $23^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$, $120^{\circ}C$. Then the stress-strain curves, which were predicted using the proposed flow stress models, were compared to the stress-strain curves obtained from experiments. It is confirmed that the proposed flow stress models can predict properly the temperature dependent flow stress of TFMLs.
