The study is to examine the actual conditions and problems of educational welfare which is a part of social welfare and to offer its future directions and things to do. First of all, education has been considered to be part of social welfare in developed countries for a long time and it has been used the same as school educational welfare. These days Korea is confronted with increasing needs of educational welfare caused by emphasis of manpower, appearance of new poor class after IMF, handing down poverty to their children, absence of public education and educational fever, stress of life long learning and extending needs of students' social welfare service. In advanced countries compared to Korea, people perceive education as an equal opportunity. To reach this thesis, various efforts have been making in terms of manpower development such as reform of related laws, financial and official support, offering of parental skills and protecting children for the disadvantaged, dispatching school social workers and overall life improvement. The subjects and age of educational welfare are also diverse ranging from poor families and pre school children to general public and adults. On the other hand, Korea lacks related laws and financial support that are supposed to enforce educational welfare systematically. Also integrated and professional services are not often available due to the lack of cooperation between related agencies. Therefore, government's role and responsibility should be defined clearly in the future directions of educational welfare in Korea. For this, it is needed to establish related laws and build a concrete financial and executive interrelationship. Also every person should be a target of educational welfare putting priorities on the disadvantaged. A lot of efforts should be made to achieve things mentioned above. Multi-dimensional approach intertwined with education, welfare and labour, establishment of cooperation system between related agencies, reinforcement of life long learning, extension of free education including infants and toddlers, and offering financial support to the poor are a few among these efforts. Finally, institutionalization of school social welfare and improvement school facilities are strongly recommended to get to the right track of educational welfare.

This study covers an investigation using meta-analysis of the factors related to the effects of singing activities for children, focusing on the dissertations conducted for master and doctor degrees and the studies published in academic journals over the past 16 years. Ameta-regression analysis was conducted to examine the changes of the factors in each published year. The analysis results were as follows: Both the entire effect size and the groups of singing activity related factors were revealed to have significant effect sizes. While the group of social factors and the group of cultural & artistic factors showed large effect sizes, the group of psychological & emotional factors appeared to have an intermediate effect size. The sub-factors of the group of social factors were shown to have significantly larger effect sizes than the others, except for the factor of capability of recognizing others. Among the sub-factors, naturally friendly behavior showed relatively larger effect size than the others. In the sub-factors of the group of psychological & emotional factors, self-expression capability and self-control capability showed large effect sizes and stress suppression and emotional intelligence showed intermediate effect sizes. Among the sub-factors of the group of cultural & artistic factors, except for creative capability which showed an intermediate effect size, all of the sub-factors showed large effect sizes. According to the results of the analysis of the trend of the effect size changes in each published year, the trends of the entire effect size and the effect size of each factor, such as the groups of social factors, psychological & emotional factors and cultural & artistic factors, showed that the activity effects increase as the publication year comes closer to the most recent year.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to describe the attributes of nursing with humor based on an integrative review and to present basic information for developing humor intervention programs for children. Methods: Using combinations of the terms 'nursing' and 'humor' as key words, the researchers searched four electronic databases to relevant identify studies. Thirteen studies were selected through full text screening of related research published in academic journals from January 1993 to April 2013. Results: Through in-depth discussion and investigation of the relevant literature, three components emerged; 1) using instruments of coping for stress relief, 2) symptoms relief through pleasant feeling, and 3) job satisfaction and work improvement of nurse using humor. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that humor is valuable as a nursing intervention for children and the possibility of bringing about positive results in nursing care if nurses utilize the sense of humor as fully as they can. Therefore, it is critical for nurses to develop a diversity of humor interventions for children as well as measurements to test quality and quantity of humor used in clinical pediatric settings.
Although not many older Korean parents who take care of children with intellectual disabilities have been reported depression due to care-giving related stresses, little is known about how they could be protected from this. This study examines whether satisfaction with family relationships moderate the relationships between time demands, caregiving stress, and depression of older parents who take care of children with intellectual disabilities. The analyses were conducted based on data from the Korean National Survey on Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and their Families of 2011, and only a total of 276 parents, aged over 60 were examined. Multiple regression analysis shows that older parents with higher level of satisfaction with family relationships were less likely to be influenced by time demands of care-giving. This indicates that satisfaction with family relationships could buffer the relationships between time demands of care-giving, and depression. This finding suggests that satisfaction with family relationships is a protective factor, buffering the negative effects of time demands of care-giving and depression. This supports 'socio-emotional selectivity theory' which family relationships are important to older people. Therefore, it is highly recommended to develop practical intervention that can improve the level of satisfaction of family relationship of the older parents, and to make policy and institutional supplementation.
The present study aims to identify the ego, marriage and parenting-related psychological characteristics of mothers of infants with developmental risk, as well as to perform comparative analysis between their psychological characteristics and those of mothers of normal infants. For this purpose, we used SPSS 21 statistical software to calculate the average and standard deviation values, and also conducted frequency analysis and t-tests. The study subjects were mothers of 1584 normal infants and 186 infants with developmental risk, who were classified by Korean Denver II developmental screening test from a total of 1802 families listed in the 3rd year data from the Panel Study on Korean Children in 2010. Our results revealed a significant difference in the martial satisfaction and husbands' parenting participation between two groups, among the marriage-related psychological characteristics. There was also a significant difference in the parenting knowledge, style and stress among the parenting-related psychological characteristics. However, a statistically significant difference was not observed in the ego-related psychological characteristics of mothers. These results are thought to serve as baseline data for the infants with developmental risk at the precautionary level.
Purpose : The aim of this study was to evaluate myocardial injury in children treated with adriamycin by echocardiography, which is non-invasive and safe measurement for children. Methods : Left ventricular dimensions, wall stress, and contractile function were determined by echocardiographic methods in 17 patient recepients with adriamycin chemotherapy at rest(group 1) and during stress(group 2). Twenty age-matched normal subjects were established as control group. Results : End-diastolic dimension was decreased in both groups(group 1; $92{\pm}7%$ of normal, group 2; $87{\pm}8%$ of normal, P<0.05). Left ventricular end diastolic volume and wall mass were also decreased in both groups(group 1; $96{\pm}12mL/m^2$ and $145{\pm}18g/m^2$, group 2; $87{\pm}8mL/m^2$ and $137{\pm}16g/m^2$, respectively, P<0.05 and P<0.05) and group 2 showed lower values than group 1. Meridional end systolic stress(ESSm) was increased in both groups but there was no significant difference between the two groups(group 1; $52.6{\pm}6.2g/cm^2$, group 2; $63.5{\pm}8.5g/cm^2$, P<0.05, normal value $45.7{\pm}3.5g/cm^2$). The load-independent relation of rate-corrected circumferential fiber shortening velocity(Vcfc) to ESSm has a significant abnormal change in 7 out of 17(41%) in group 1 and 12 out of 17(71%) in group 2. Conclusion : The load-dependent systolic index, such as fractional shortening, may fail to show abnormality because of the compensatory changes in preload and afterload which can mask the impaired contractility. Therefore, systolic performance also should be monitored by a load-indepedent contractility index such as slope value of the end-systolic pressure-dimension relation and the position of the left ventricular stress-fiber shortening velocity after exercise.
In this study, systematic review and meta-analysis were performed in order to identify the variables related to children's psychosocial maladjustment at the individual, family, school, and community levels from the eco-systemic perspective. A total of 36 research studies published in Korea from 1999 to 2016 were selected: 21 variables and 65 data regarding externalizing problems, and 22 variables and 70 data regarding internalizing problems were used in the final meta-analysis. As a result of the analysis, the biggest effect size concerning externalizing problems was as follows: stress coping, among child individual factors; family communication, among family factors; adoption to school, among school factors; and satisfaction for community welfare services, among community factors, respectively. On the other hand, the biggest effect size concerning internalizing problems was as follows: child temperament, among children individual factors; family relationships, among family factors; peer relationships, among school factors; and social support, among community factors, respectively. According to each system, the mean effect size was enumerated as individual > family > school/community in both externalizing and internalizing problems. We also presented the results of moderating effects regarding differences according to eco-systemic factors.
Impacted supernumerary anterior teeth (mesiodens) usually are removed surgically with drug sedation and local anesthesia. After extraction of mesiodens, the wound are sutured and removable resin plate is then applied. In this operation, the postoperative bleeding and infection is likely to occur owing to postoperative accumulation of hematoma & seroma, psychologic stress and other contaminated factors (resin plate, poor oral hygiene, etc). So, the authors established the immediate rubber & iodoform gauze drainage into the sutured wound of mesiodens extraction for the prevention of postoperative bleeding and infection. The removable resin splint are not used because of the poor oral hygiene and economic factor. The results were more favorable without the postoperative blood oozing & wound infection in the dentistry (OMFS) of Wonju Christian Hospital.
Purpose: This study examined the life experiences of the wives of men who were born with normal vision but gradually developed a visual impairment, with particular focus on their way of facing and coping with their life crisis. Method: A narrative approach was used to not only understand women's experiences within sociocultural contexts, but also reveal the subjective meaning of their personal life stories through their own voices. A purposive sample of three participants having husbands unexpectedly diagnosed with visual impairment during their marriage was recruited. The data were analyzed using the narrative analysis methods suggested by Clandinin and Connelly. Results: The wives took the crisis of their husbands' visual impairment as an economic crisis of the family. They faced a variety of difficulties, including extreme despair, role changes, and economic burdens. On the other hand, they tried to keep the family secure through a range of coping strategies that were motivated by compassion toward the husbands, maternal affection for the children, and a sense of responsibility for their families. Conclusion: This study revealed the need for financial support for temporarily disadvantaged families. In addition, various nursing and counseling programs for the family members will also be needed to help recover the family functions.
Through psychological evaluation, this study attempted to verify the effect of quality of life improvements from gardening activities in apartment landscaping spaces. The study was conducted on 32 mothers raising children. Psychological valuation was conducted using world Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire(WHOQOL-Bref), the Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS), the Life Satisfaction Experience Scale(LSES), and the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised(SCL-90-R). The psychological analysis results showed that, engaging in gardening activities for two weeks had, a positive effect on mothers' environmental of quality of life evaluation. The LSES indicates that satisfaction with oneself significantly increased after starting the gardening activities. The activity resulted in a positive change in attitude toward life. The SCL-90-R results showed changes in the mother's psychological state. There was a significant amelioration of obesessive-compulsive behaviors, hostility, and phobic anxiety. In conclusion, this study was found that, for mothers in apartments, outdoor gardening activities can significantly affect their quality of life. Moreover, it can help prevent mental health deterioration, Further study should be conducted on the beneficial effects of gardening on the variety of age groups and activities.
