  • Displacement fields and interface stresses are obtained by modifying the potential energy functional with a penalty function which enforces the continuity of stresses at the interface of two-materials. Based on the displacement field and the interface stresses, a new methodology to generate a continuous stress field over the entire domain including the interface of the dissimilar materials has been proposed by combining the L$^{2}$ projection method of stress-smoothing and the Loubignac's iterative method of improving the displacement field. Stress analysis was carried out on two examples which are made of highly dissimilar materials. As a result of the analysis, it is found that the proposed method provides improved continuity of the stress field over the entire domain as well as predicting accurate nodal stresses at the interface. In contrast, the conventional displacement-based finite element method provides significant stress discontinuties at the interfaces. In addition, it was found that the total strain energy evaluated from the improved continuous stress field converge to the exact value as increasing the number of iterations in the proposed method.

  • The finite element method were used to determine the stress intensity factor of cracked plate. The stress method, displacement method and J Integral are most popular finte element method. ANSYS proposed another a kind of displacement method. In this paper, it was examined that the accuracy and utility of the ANSYS method could believable to determine the stress intensity factors of centered inclined crack. Generally, inclined crack has two portion of stress intensity factors, tensile mode F1 and shear mode F2. For the purpose of increasing the accuracy of stress intensity factors, examined the effect of the numbers of nodes and elements, crack tip element size and number of partition of the crack tip vicinity. It was found that the method proposed by ANSYS is useful and has high accuracy. Accuracy of calculated stress intensity factors was increased by increase of the number of nodes and elements, and at the small size of crack tip elements can get more highly accuracy.

  • In this study, stress intensity factors KI, KII, KIII are existing at the same time to a hollow cylindrical bar of three dimension inclination crack. In order to investigate by experimentally the effect of the inclination angle $\psi$ of crack, artificial inclination cracks in the circumferential direction are put in the surface of a hollow cylindrical bar made by the epoxy-resin. Experimentally, stress analysis methods of stress intensity factors were proposed. But, suitable method are the caustic method and the photoelastic stress freezing method. The mixed mode of KI, and KII, were determined by the photoelastic method of the classical approach method and the FORTRAN language program of the used smallest square method.

  • The boundary element method was used for studying singularities of an interface crack with contact zones. The iterative procedure is applied to estimate the contact zone size. Because the contact zone size was extremely small in a tension field, a large number of Gaussian points were used for numerical integration of the Kernels. Stress extrapolation method and J-integral were used ofr determining stress intensity factors. When the interface crack was assumed to have opened tips, oscillatory singularities appear near the tips of the interface crack. But the interface crack with contact zone which Comninou suggested had no oscillatory behavior. The contact zone size under shear loading was much larger than that under tensile. The stress intensity factors computed by stress extrapolation method were close to those of Comninou's solution. And the stress intensity factor evaluated by J-integral was similar to that by stress extrapolation method.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of the self-efficacy of dental hygienists on their stress-coping method. Methods : The subjects in this study were the dental hygienists in dental institutions that were selected by convenience sampling from Jeonju, Iksan, Gimjei and Gunsan in North Jeolla Province. A survey was conducted by using structured questionnaires. Results : A regression analysis was carried out to see whether self-efficacy would affect stress-coping method, and it's found that those whose overall self-efficacy was better made more use of an overall stress-coping method(p>0.001). General and social self-efficacy exerted a significant influence on a problem-oriented stress-coping method(p>0.001, p>0.01), and general and social self-efficacy had an impact on a stress-coping method of social support pursuit(p>0.01, p>0.01). In addition, general and social self-efficacy exercised an influence on a stress-coping method of wishful thinking(p>0.01, p>0.05). Conclusions : The self-efficacy of the dental hygienists affected their own stress-coping method, and the finding of the study suggests that a lot of efforts should be made from diverse angles to boost the self-efficacy of dental hygienists.

  • A prediction method for determining the welding residual stress by artificial neural network is proposed. A three-dimensional transient thermomechanical analysis has been performed for the CO $_{2}$ Arc Welding using the finite element method. The validity of the above results is demonstrated by experimental elastic stress relief method which is called Holl Drilling Method. The first part of numarical analysis performs a three-dimensional transient heat transfer anslysis, and the second part then uses results of the first part and performs a three-dimensional transient thermo-clasto-plastic analysis to compute transient and residual stresses in the weld. Data from the finite element method were used to train a backpropagation neural network to predict residual stress. Architecturally, the finite element method were used to train a backpropagation voltage and the current, a hidden layer to accommodate failure mechanism mapping, and an output layer for residual stress. The trained network was then applied to the prediction of residual stress in the four specimens. The results of predicted residual stress have been very encouraging.

  • A new reduction method of residual stress in welding joint is proposed where welded metals are shaken during welding. By an experiment using a small shaker, it can be shown that tensile residual stress near the bead is significantly reduced. Since tensile residual stress on the surface degrades fatigue strength for cumulative damage, the proposed method is effective to reduction of residual stress of welded joints. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by the response analysis using one mass model with nonlinear springs.

  • Purpose: This study was founded to identify perception and ways of coping with stress according to classification of Sasangin(4 constitutions). Method: The subjects were 258 regular students who majored in oriental medicine in Jechon and Seoul. Data was collected by 3 types of questionnaires for 3 months; Perceived stess, ways of coping, Questionnaires of Sasang Constitution Classification (QSCCII). Data analysis was conducted by SPSS version 10. Result: 1) Difference of perceived stress in Sasangin: Perceived stress by the Sasangin indicated that Soeumin perceived more stress than Soyangin and Taeumin(P=.013). 2) Different method in coping with stress of Sasangin: It was found that Soeumin didn't make use of emotional coping way according to the analysis(P=.040). 3) Relationship between ways of coping for stress and perceived stress in Sasangin: It was shown that as Soeumin perceived stress so higher than Soyangin and Taeumin, they tended to use the solving problem-method therefore it was shown to have a negative correlation(P=.044). Conclusion: In conclusion, it was found that there were differences of Sasangin in perceived stress and ways to cope with it. The dose relationship between the perception and coping method of stress was found.

  • This paper attempt to explore the shape of stress wave propagation of 3-dimensional stress field which in made in the process of the time increment. A finite element program about 3-dimensional stress wave propagation is developed for investigating the changing shape of the stress by the impact load. The finite element program, which is the solution for the 3-dimensional stress wave analysis, based on Galerkin and Newmark-${\beta}$ method at time increment step. The tensile stress and compressive stress become larger with the order of the middle , the upper and the opposite layers when the impact load is applied. In a while the shear stress become larger according to the order of the upper, the middle and the opposite layers when impact load applied.

  • One of the major characteristics that affects the life of welded steel water pipes is the stress distribution caused by welding and external forces. Some studios have bean carried out on the residual stress of steel water pipes. But the results on the stress distributions by welding and complex external forces are rare, because real water pipes operate under the ground and many kinds of external forces act simultaneously on the joints. To understand the complex stress distributions of welded joints, therefore predictions by numerical or analytic methods are required. In this study, temperature and stress distributions in steel water pipes produced by welding are predicted by a three-dimensional finite element method(FEM). Based on these results, stress distributions by welding and complex external forces are evaluated by adopting the same numerical method. The influence of some post weld heat treatments on residual stress distributions is also investigated.
