  • The use of composite materials to strengthen reinforced concrete (RC) structures against blast terror has great interests from engineering experts in structural retrofitting. The composite materials used in this study are rigid polyurethane foam (RPF) and aluminum foam (ALF). The aim of this study is to use the RPF and the ALF to strengthen the RC panels under blast load. The RC panel is considered to study the RPF and the ALF as structural retrofitting. Field blast test is conducted. The finite element analysis (FEA) is also used to model the RC panel under shock wave. The RC panel performance is studied based on detonating different TNT explosive charges. There is a good agreement between the results obtained by both the field blast test and the proposed numerical model. The composite materials improve the RC panel performance under the blast wave propagation.

  • This study deals with legal issues and solutions for a successful management of the Busan Port Authority(BPA) and proposes Busan Metropolitan City Ordinance for the effectiveness of BPA because the role of BPA is to improve Busan regional economy and to strengthen the competitiveness of Busan Port. In order to prepare the ordinance, this paper suggests that the current legislation related to Port Authority(PA), which empowers central government to control the management of port, should be amended to strengthen the port autonomy by allowing PA and local government to control the management and operation on port independently and enabling the building of cooperative system from the City for BPA.

  • This paper aims to propose ways to revitalize the design industry of Busan by way of analyzing the status of the design and its related industries .We also propose the systematic ways to improve the employment and strengthen the global competitiveness of the design industry of Busan. The basic year of this study is 2010, and the goal years are 2011, 20115 and 2020, each of which represents the short-term, mid-term and long-term goal period, respectively. The content of our study includes the status of the design and its related industries and ways to revitalize them. Our study focuses on ways to revitalize the design industry through the particularization of the design industry in Busan and to strengthen the global competitiveness of Busan's strategic industries. For this, we have read up on the design and its related industries, surveyed the previous research work, and conducted the statistical analysis of design fields for the years of 2006-2008. In order to provide the revitalization plan in a more efficient way, we have also gathered the opinions of the experts through FGI (focus group interview).

  • The light has been considered as a main character that can not be omitted in architecture since ancient time. The recognition of space by light means that light makes the fictional space recognizable concretization. Light and shade make emptiness and substance can be easily recognized. Also reiteration and location of light and shade change the degree of acknowledgement. The character of light can strengthen or weaken the power of recognition concerning territory, direction and location. Also it can broaden, close, and segregate the domain and eventually strengthen recognition. In this study, I will try to find how space can be recognized with the help of light in architectural territories in terms of actual states. Also the main aim of my study will be the study of the light application in real space with the architectural example of space recognition by light and possible opportunity of it in space plan.

  • The use of the rigid polyurethane foam (RPF) to strengthen buried structures against blast terror has great interests from engineering experts in structural retrofitting. The aim of this study is to use the RPF to strengthen the buried structures under blast load. The buried structure is considered to study the RPF as structural retrofitting. The Guowei model (Guowei et al. 2010) is considered as a case study. The finite element analysis (FEA) is also used to model the buried structure under shock wave. The buried structure performance is studied based on detonating different TNT explosive charges. There is a good agreement between the results obtained by both the Guowei model and the proposed numerical model. The RPF improves the buried structure performance under the blast wave propagation.

  • External pre-stressing strengthening method is the most popular way to strengthen concrete structures because of its efficiency and economic advantage. The laboratory test was performed to reinforce the slave bridge with the external tendon strengthening by longitudinally and transversally, which is concerned with formal feature of slave bridge, generally. Based on this test, anchoring device to strengthen the external tendon strengthening method was established and its strengthening effects were verified by evaluating the load bearing capacity.

  • The introduction of new equipments to strengthen the competitiveness of enterprises is one of pretty important factors. Enterprises introducing new equipments strengthen competitiveness through productivity increasing, high quality maintenance, inventory reduction, improved design and production interface, simple scheduling process, low scrap rate, rework reduction, etc. Managers will work out the best equipment-replacing strategy through the appropriate combination of potential cost attributes and qualitative attributes difficult to quantify in accordance with the business purpose. This study is to present a method to select an equipment-replacing alternative through the decision-making model of Analytic Hierarchy Process in consideration of the differences of cost flow of the alternatives, taking into consideration tangible attributes and strategic intangible attributes.

  • By examining the relationship between private credit growth and the possibility of credit risk while focusing on international capital in 21 countries over the period 2000:1Q-2015:2Q, this paper shows that the impact of private credit growth on credit risk is apparent under the high ratio of capital inflows, and its impact on credit risk in the seven Asian countries is even stronger. And the possibility of credit risk caused by private credit is mainly coming from portfolio inflows rather than direct inflows. Finally, portfolio inflows strengthen the positive relationship between credit excess and credit risk in Asian countries, and this trend is seen more in these after the global financial crisis. Taken together, the stronger positive relationship between credit excess and credit risk can be strengthen under the massive portfolio inflows in particular in the seven Asian countries such as Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
