  • The purpose of this study is to analyze a Characteristics of block formation and commercialization of residential books commercial area along urban arteries on Teheran-ro in Seoul. 'Teheran-ro' is selected as a case site to analyze the characteristics of residential blocks commercial area along urban arteries.   • Street-in-the-air has been regarded as a device which supplements the defects of high-rise blocks. It should be, however, noted that most of street-in-the-air has been based on the concept of urbanity in the automobile era as well. Based on this point of view, the 5 types of approaches to the street-in-the-air in this paper were introduced. Throughout the research, it was figured out that the types of approaches focusing the urban spatial system tended to neglect the essential properties of street itself as place for everyday life. In considering that street is defined by relationship with building or units, it is necessary to secure the correlation of street-in-the-air with units prior to considering the urban spatial system.

역세권 제2종 일반주거지역 상업화 확산과 특성 분석 (A Study on the Commercialization Characteristics of 2nd Class Residential District in Inner-city Railway Station Area)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the commercialization characteristics of 2nd class residential district in innercity railway station area as basic research to protect urban residential area against the pressure of commercialization. Through the research that are based on literature, field survey and urban planning map, it analysed the commercialization characteristic of selected three sites under similar urban condition; to be a nearby subway station and to be a famous commercial street in site, etc. The consequences of this study are summarized as follows; First it finds the commercialized lots in all blocks that adjoin blocks of upper class zoning. Second it is in inverse proportion between the commercialization of lots and the distance from subway station to residential block. Third, the corner lot of a block and the access road directly connected collector road are very important factors to spread commercialization to residential area. Finally, it finds the difference of the commercialization degree of 2nd class residential zone according to arrange main commercial street and the 2nd class residential block; vertical arrangement and horizontal arrangement.

유형별 슈퍼블록이 가로활력에 미치는 영향 분석 - 서울시 강남구 역삼2동을 사례로 - (A Study on Street Vitality of Two Different Types of Superblocks - With a case of Yeoksam 2-dong, Seoul -)

  • This study tried to prove why a low-rise residential block is more vitalized than in a superblock consisted of an apartment housing complex. To do this, two adjacent superblocks in Yeoksam 2-dong were selected as a case study among superblocks of residential area in Gangnam, Seoul. It adopted the concept of 'complexity', 'Osmosis', 'Vitality' and 'Permeability' for evaluation indexes to measure street vitality. As a result, four indexes were clearly higher in low-density residential superblocks than apartment housing complex superblocks. First, the superblocks for apartment housing complexes showed a lower 'complexity' because large-scale parcels for an apartment housing complex reduces a possibility for various land uses. Second, smaller blocks improved "osmosis" compared to larger blocks, and the larger the block, the less likely it is that buildings and streets penetrate activity. Third, as the apartment complex block became larger, the number of accesses decreased. Thus, it did not provide vitality to the streets. Fourth, high permeability was shown in the low-density superblocks, while that of the superblock consisted of apartment housing complexes was very low because the entrance of the complexes entrance is closed to the public. The results of this study demonstrated that an apartment housing complex may hamper street vitality and deteriorate the quality of urban environments.

스트릿 몰(Street Mall)의 매장 배분계획과 영업활성화의 관계에 대한 연구 - 국내 스트릿 몰의 사례를 중심으로 - (Research on the relationship of store unit configuration and business activation of street mall - Based on case studies of street malls in Korea -)

  • This research was undertaken to prove the relationship between street mall activation and architectural plan design. The research methodology was established based on the analysis of data of two existing street malls in Korea (Western Dome & LaFesta) and theoretical studies of outdoor space design. The findings from this study are the following: First, building blocks with segments in every 50m or so are ideal for detailed communication between visitors and building contents. Second, the ratio of width of main corridor and building height should be less than 1 to provide intimate feel and keep visitors' attention concentrated in the facility. Third, store unit should have more storefronts to be exposed more to passers-by and lead more pedestrian traffic. Fourth, shape of store unit would rather be wide and shallow, instead of narrow and deep, to have more exposure to the central corridor. Fifth, the building block of the busiest(most expensive) area that is usually at the main entrance area of street mall should be flexible to fit more smaller units to maximize the profitability. Sixth, the main entrance of store should face the main pedestrian corridor to induce the influx of visitors. Lastly seventh, anchor tenant that has strong name recognition is usually located on basement or higher level to induce pedestrian traffic into the mall, key tenants that are strong and familiar brand names should be located at the corner of building block with spacing to attract visitors, provide even distribution of traffic, and support wayfinding, and local tenant should be located at small units along the central corridor or remainder spaces occurred from building core layout.

해안 가로의 지속가능성 향상을 위한 가로 시설물 연구 - 제주도 해수욕장 주변 가로시설물을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Street Facilities for the Sustainability Improvement of the Coastal Street - Focused on the Street Facilities around Jeju Island Beach -)

  • In Korea, which has three sides of the sea, various waterfront spaces are being developed and developed along with various coastal landscapes. However, there are a lot of cases that do not consider the regional characteristic of the coast or the characteristic of the coastal landscape. In many cases, the street facilities cause the landscape degradation and the use inconvenience because of incongruity with the scenery, aging and lax management. Therefore, it is necessary to reflect the specificity of the coastal landscape in planning and directing the street facilities, harmonizing with the surrounding natural environment, and consideration of sustainability. However, there is no research or planning index for sustainable street facilities considering the coastal characteristics. Therefore, this study suggests plan elements to improve the sustainability of the street facilities on the shore and proposes them as basic plan elements, and suggests what kind of improvements should be made to improve the sustainability of coastal facilities in Korea. Based on the plan elements derived from the plan, we checked the problems and complementary points of coastal street facilities in Korea by analyzing the current status of the street facilities around the Jeju Island beach from a sustainable point of view, and suggested plan indicators that should be supplemented to improve sustainability. We surveyed the street facilities such as walkway blocks, benches, pagoda, drinking fountain, trash cans, bicycle shelters, fences, guide maps, streetlights, and shower rooms in 10 beaches in Jeju Island. This study analyzed the sustainability characteristics of the each factor of these facilities by surveying the reflectivity of the 23 plan indicators from the six aspects derived from the sustainability planning factor as conformity, partial reflection, non - reflection, and nonconformity. The results of the analysis showed that the functional aspect was the highest with 68.3%, the material aspect (53%), the landscape aspect (22.3%), the productive aspect (14.7%) and the morphological aspect (12.2%), and maintenance / management (10.6%). In addition, the facilities with the lowest fitness in each aspect are bicycle shelter in landscape aspect, bicycle storage box and trash can in form aspect, shower room in material aspect, trash can in functional aspect, showroom, guide maps and drinking fountain in product aspect, showroom In maintenance aspect. In order to improve the sustainability of coastal facilities in the future, it is necessary to complement the administrative and landscape aspects. In coastal facilities, it is necessary to consider the sustainability planning index, especially for showers, taking into account the specificity of beaches. Consideration should be given to various aspects of sustainability for bike shelters and trash facilities. Through this study, we have proposed the plan elements to systematize, supplement, and improve the planning index for sustainability improvement in coastal facilities planning.

역사문화거리 빈집의 장소성에 관한 연구 -중국 항저우 중산로를 중심으로- (A Study on the Placeness of Vacant Houses in the Street of Historical Culture - Focused on HangZhou Zhongshan Road -)

  • 도시의 문화유산이 가장 집중된 역사문화거리의 중심가에 비해 주변 거리의 발전은 점차 쇠퇴하는 상황을 보이고 있으며 장소성 역시 상실되고 있다. 이로 인해 많은 빈집이 발생함에 따라 역사문화지구 내 빈집에 대한 관심과 대책이 매우 시급한 상황이다. 본 연구는 중국 항저우 중산로의 빈집을 연구대상으로 삼아 장소성 이론 및 Matthew Carmona의 도시 설계의 6가지(사회적, 지각적, 기능적, 형태적, 시각적, 시간적) 차원을 적용해 이해하고, 항저우 중산로에 있는 다른 빈집의 활용 방향과 근거를 제시하기 위해서 역사문화거리에 있는 빈집의 장소성 평가 요소를 추가로 분석하였다. 연구분석 방법으로는 AHP 계층분석법을 활용하여 각 평가요소(6차원의 12가지)의 중요도를 도출하였으며, 전문가의 평가결과와 사례의 분석결과를 비교분석하였다. 연구성과는 다음과 같다. 역사문화거리의 빈집 활용의 장소성의 평가 결과, 12가지 평가 요소에는 안전성, 동일성, 사용성, 개별성, 심미성, 연계성, 다양성, 개방성, 연속성, 접근성, 질서성, 역사성이 차례대로 고려되어야 한다고 도출되었다.

춘천시의 조경식물의 식재와 이용 현황 (A Study on the Planting and Use of Landscaping Plants in Chuncheon)

  • This study was executed to find out how to improve the planting and use of landscaping plants in Chuncheon. The number of street trees was 17,877 in 2003. The major species of street trees were Ginkgo biloba(52.7%), Prunus sargentii(15.3%), Zelkova serrata(8.9%), Platanus occidentalis(7.3%). Salix babylonica and Platanus occidentalis were decreased, while Prunus sargentii and Zelkova serrata were increased. Salix babylonica is a good species for a lakeside city, but its seeds cause allergies to some people. Most of the trees have been removed in Chuncheon. The planting of Salix babylonica(♂) resulted in no problems, and it should be propagated to plant. The soil of several areas was analysed to investigate soil conditions. The outskirts of city had good conditions in pH, organic matter and minerals, but the downtown areas had high alkalic, due to alkali from footpath concrete blocks. Appropriate pruning adds to the aesthetic and prolongs the useful life; it also requires less managing of insects and diseases to maintain good healthy of street trees. Street trees were not properly pruned due to electric lines and shortage of pruning information. The pruning was controlled by Korea Electric Power Co, which has no pruning information. Pruning must be maintained by a professional landscape company to maintain good shape such as with Bonsai. The Shrubs planting zone between street trees and other trees, and preservation plates were established for healthy of street trees. They have to be repaired and maintained well to keep better environmental conditions. The number of tree and flower species of 68 schools in Chuncheon were 12 and 16, respectively. The species that showed high preference were Juniperus chinensis, Pinus koraiensis, Pinus densiflora, Rosa centifolia, Forsythia koreana, and Rhododendron schlippenbachii. The high frequency of the protection trees designated by Chuncheon were Pinus densiflora, Ginko biloba, Zelkova serrata, Quercus species. It was thought that the diversification of street tree species, the selection of street trees suitable to each space, the generalization of use of native species, the appropriate pruning and proper fertilization, the control of pests and diseases, and the opinions of citizens concerning landscape plants were needed to improve the planting, use and maintenance of landscaping plants in Chuncheon.

부산 영화의 거리 조성계획 (The Study of BIFF Street Renovation Plan)

  • 본 연구는 국제적 명성을 얻고 있는 부산국제영화제를 테마로 한 가로 공간-영화의 거리-의 정비 계획을 정리한 것이다. 테마 거리의 정비 목표는 방문객 유치를 통한 지역 경제 활성화에 있다. 계획 수립의 과정은 먼저 테마 거리의 정비 사례를 분석하여 계획 대상지의 위상을 동정하였다. 그리고 관련 계획을 검토하여 본 계획과의 차별성을 확인하였다. 영화의 거리의 공간별 주제는 영화와 관계 맺기로 설정하여 가로 공간의 통일적 이미지를 구현하고자 하였다. 영화의 역사를 보도에 새겨 영화역사의 길을 조성하고, 일부 구간은 붉은색의 보도 블록을 부설하여 레드카펫거리를 조성하였다. 요트경기장에서 마린시티까지의 길은 영화와 친해지기를 주제로, 영화제작 조형물과 테마벤치를 설치하여 영화를 간접체험해 볼 수 있도록 했다. 다음 마린시티에서 동백섬까지는 영화와 놀며 즐기기로 슈퍼그래픽과 트릭아트 등을 활용해 재미있는 길을 만들고자 했다. 동백섬에서 해운대까지는 영화와 이별이라는 주제를 영화음악을 통해 풀어내 악보보도와 음악분수를 도입했다. 마지막 구간 해운대에서 문텐로드까지는 이별 후의 추억을 주제로 하는 문텐로드와의 중간지역이다. 광섬유를 이용해 은하수 보도와 은하수 광장을 조성하여 두 가지 역할을 모두 소화할 수 있는 지대로 조성하고자 했다.

도시가로공간의 공공디자인 개선사업에 따른 열환경 개선 효과 평가 (Evaluation of Thermal Environment Improvement Effect from Public Design Improvement Project on the Urban Street Space)

  • In this study, thermal environment improvements throughout public design improvement project on the urban street space were compared and evaluated. Thermo-Render 3.0, 3D-CAD based thermal environment simulation program, had been used for thermal environment improvement evaluations. Followings are the results. First, clayey blocks which have low heat transfer rate and cool island effect by trees and roof gardens brought cooling effects for buildings and surface of streets. Seconds, MRT values showed low levels because of low radiant mulching materials. Thirds, roof gardens contributed to reduce heat island effect since HIP levels were affected by decreasing heat storage effect of buildings from roof gardens. As a result, reducing heat storage effect throughout selecting and arranging proper materials which would not increase heat island potentials should be performed to improve heat island effects.
