  • In this paper, we propose a DRM(Digital Rights Management) system for streaming media which can not only protect streamed MPEG-4 content but be easily integrated with existing MPEG-4 streaming system. To protect MPEG-4 media more effectively and more securely, encryption should be considered on encoding phase and also streaming server should be designed to support DRM. However that means it cannot support existing streaming system. Our approach is to design a DRM system independent to the streaming server. So, we used an encryption method which can be applied to compressed MPEG-4. The processing time of decryption in client system must be minimized to guarantee the QoS of streaming service. To satisfy this requirement, it is essential to analyze the effect of DRM on performance. We made some performance test and present the result. Also, we apply proposed system to ISMA(The Inter net Streaming Media Alliance) streaming system which is open standard for MPEG-4 media streaming.

  • Recently, there is a rapidly growing demand for efficient real-tine playback and transmission of large amounts of multimedia data. But most users' connections are not fast enough to download large chunks of multimedia data. Therefore a streaming technology is needed in which users enable the real-time playback of multimedia date without having to download the whole of the multimedia date. In this paper, we propose a personalized IP streaming system. The proposed IP streaming system enables users to got an intelligent recommendation of multimedia contents based on the user preference information stored on the streaming server or the home media server. Moreover, users are assured of seamless access of streamed content event if they switch to another client device by implementing streaming system based on user identification and device information. We evaluate our approach with simulation results.

  • In this paper, we propose the redirect streaming service model to enhance resurgent ability. The system consists of a redirect server, local streaming servers and clients. A redirect server searches the best streaming server. And streaming servers starts a requested service or resumes it when in a trouble. RTSP/RTP is one of the effective solutions to improve QOS in VOD, however a service can be broken off by an overloaded server or network especially in live. We designed and implemented not only a distributed streaming system that solves the broken-off service to enhance a resurgent system, but also DSSP, distributed streaming service protocol, which is adopted to implement this model. Those will improve the performance of streaming service using RTP/RTSP and be contributed to a real time streaming research to solve a service trouble.

  • Streaming Technology can support the real-time playback without downloading and storing multimedia data in local HDD. So, client browser or plug-in can represent multimedia data before the end of file transmission using streaming technology. Recently, the demand for efficient real-time playback and transmission of large amounts of multimedia data is growing rapidly. But most users' connections over network are not fast and stable enough to download large chunks of multimedia data. In this paper, we propose an intelligent IP streaming system based on personalized media service. The proposed IP streaming system enables users to get an intelligent recommendation of multimedia contents based on the user preference information stored on the streaming server or the home media server. The supposed intelligent IP streaming system consists of Server Metadata Agent, Pumping Server, Contents Storage Server, Client Metadata Agent and Streaming Player. And in order to implement the personalized media service, the user information, user preference information and client device information are managed under database concept. Moreover, users are assured of seamless access of streamed content event if they switch to another client device by implementing streaming system based on user identification and device information. We evaluate our approach with manufacturing home server system and simulation results.

  • The software streaming technology enables telematics software to be automatically updated through a wireless network. When the software starts running, software streaming system inspects its version and then, automatically download latest one. The software streaming system breaks the software into several pieces that are streamed to the user as needed. In this way, software streaming system can improves the telematics application load time while updating the software through wireless network. In our experiments, the application load time was reduced about 7 times compared to downloading whole software at best case.

  • Linux cluster Server makes a high performance PC cluster system, and provides scalablity and availability as compared with an expensive single server. In this paper, we design and implement a VOD streaming service system to serve video and audio streaming services on the Linux cluster server. Our Streaming server supports the MS Window Media Format based on the RTSP streaming protocol.

  • Scalable video coding can handle peer heterogeneity of P2P streaming applications, but there is still a lack of comprehensive studies on how to use it to improve video playback quality. In this paper we propose a capacity aware scalable video coding mechanism for P2P on demand streaming system. The proposed mechanism includes capacity based neighbor selection, adaptive data scheduling and streaming layer adjustment, and can enable each peer to select appropriate streaming layers and acquire streaming chunks with proper sequence, along with choosing specific peers to provide them. Simulation results show that the presented mechanism can decrease the system's startup and playback delay, and increase the video playback quality as well as playback continuity, and thus it provides a better quality of experience for users.

  • 본 논문은 Raspberry Pi 3 임베디드 컴퓨터를 이용한 스트리밍 시스템의 구현 사례를 소개한다. 본 연구에서 구현한 스트리밍은 파일 전송 방식이 아닌 라이브 스트리밍 시스템이다. 오디오 입력 단자로부터 받은 아날로그 신호를 wav 형식으로 변환하여 서버에 접속한 다수의 사용자에게 동시에 방송하는 푸시형 멀티스레드 스트리밍이다. 스트리밍 서버 소프트웨어는 전체 자바 언어로 구현하였기 때문에 Raspberry Pi 3 가 아닌 다른 임베디드 컴퓨터에도 수정 없이 탑재될 수 있다. 계산과 실험을 통해 분석한 결과 최대 65여명을 동시 스트리밍 할 수 있다. 그리고 오디오 소스로부터 청취 단말기의 재생까지의 시간 지연은 40ms 남짓되는 것으로 평가되었다.

IEEE 802.11e U-APSD 환경에서 에너지 효율 향상을 위한 적응적인 스트리밍 시스템 (Adaptive Streaming System for Improving Energy Efficiency over IEEE 802.11e U-APSD)

  • 무선 네트워크 환경에서 단말기의 에너지 효율은 멀티미디어 스트리밍 서비스의 연속적인 이용을 위한 중요한 고려사항이다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 스트리밍 서비스를 이용하는 무선 단말기의 에너지 효율을 향상시키기 위해서 IEEE 802.11e의 U-APSD(Unscheduled Automatic Power Save Delivery) 환경에서 동작하는 스트리밍 시스템인 BACASS(Buffer-Aware and Content-Aware Streaming System)를 제안하였다. BACASS는 SVC로 인코딩된 영상을 이용하는 네트워크 인지형 스트리밍 시스템을 기반으로, PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio)과 클라이언트 버퍼 정보를 이용해서 U-APSD의 DP(Doze Period)를 유도함으로써 에너지 효율을 향상 시킨다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해서 제안하는 BACASS가 단말기의 에너지 효율을 향상시킴을 보였다.
