It is very difficult to apply stream flow data directly to the management of Total Maximum Daily Loads because there are some differences between the unit watershed and the stream flow monitoring network in their characteristics such as monitoring locations and its intervals. Flow duration curve can be developed by linking the daily flow data of stream monitoring network to 8 day interval flow data of the unit watershed. This study investigated the current operating conditions of the stream flow monitoring network and the flow relationships between the unit watershed and the stream flow monitoring network. Criteria such as missing and zero value data, and correlation coefficients were applied to select the stream flow reference sites. The reference sites were selected in 112 areas out of 142 unit watersheds in 4 river basins, where the stream flow observations were carried out in relatively normal operating conditions. These reference sites could be utilized in various ways such as flow variation analysis, flow duration curve development and so on for the management of Total Maximum Daily Loads.

GeoSensor network means sensor network infra and related software of specific form monitoring a variety of circumstances over geospatial. And these GeoSensor network is implemented by mixing data stream with spatial attribute, spatial relation. But, until a recent date sensor network system has been concentrated on a store and search method of sensor data stream except for a spatial information. In this paper, we propose a definition of spatial data stream and its join strategy model at GeoSensor network, which combine data stream with spatial data. Spatial data stream s defining in this paper are dynamic spatial data stream of a moving object type and static spatial data stream of a fixed type. Dynamic spatial data stream is data stream transmitted by moving sensor as GPS, while static spatial data stream is generated by joining a data stream of general sensor and a relation with location values of these sensors. This paper propose joins of dynamic spatial data stream and static spatial data stream, and cost models estimating join cost. Finally, we show verification of proposed cost models and performance by join strategy.

In this paper, we propose an expanded patching technique in order to reduce the server network bandwidth requirements to support true VoD services in VoD Systems. Double Patching, which is a typical multicast technique, ensures that a long patching stream delivers not only essential video data for the current client but also extra video data for future clients. Since the extra data may include useless data, it results in server network bandwidth wastage. In order to prevent a server from transmitting useless data, the proposed patching technique uses a new kind of stream called a linking stream. A linking stream is transmitted to clients that have received short patching streams, and it plays a linking role between a patching stream and a regular stream. The linking stream enables a server to avoid transmitting unnecessary data delivered by a long patching stream in Double Patching, so the server never wastes its network bandwidth. Mathematical analysis shows that the proposed technique requires less server network bandwidth to support true VoD services than Double Patching. Moreover, simulation results show that it has better average service latency and client defection rate compared with Double Patching.
This study has evaluated the stream gauge network with the main emphasis on if the current stream gauge network can catch the runoff characteristics of the basin. As the evaluation of the stream gauge network in this study does not consider a special purpose of a stream gauge, nor the effect from a hydraulic structure, it becomes an optimization of current stream gauge network under the condition that each stream gauge measures the natural runoff volume. This study has been applied to the Nam-Han River Basin for the optimization of total 31 stream gauge stations using the entropy concept. Summarizing the results are as follows. (1) The unit hydrograph representing the basin response from rainfall can be transferred into a probability density function for the application of the entropy concept to optimize the stream gauge network. (2) Accurate derivation of unit hydrographs representing stream gauge sites was found the most important part for the evaluation of stream gauge network, which was assured in this research by comparing the measured and derived unit hydrographs. (3) The Nam-Han River Basin was found to need at least 28 stream gauge stations, which was derived by considering both the shape of the unit hydrograph and the runoff volume. If considering only the shape of the unit hydrograph, the number of stream gauges required decreases to 23.
The fractal study in river basin has been performed for the sinuosity of an individual stream and bifurcation of the stream network. The previous studies has suggested many methods or equations for the fractal dimension estimation in a river network. This study used those many equations for the estimation of fractal dimensions on the streams such as Bokha, Gonjiam, and Pocheon streams. The estimated dimensions are in the range of 1 to 1.359 for the individual stream and 1.634 to 2 for the stream network. The most of equations were suggested based on the assumption of self-similarity of a river basin for the individual stream and stream network. However, the real river basin could be characterized by self-affinity rather than self-similarity. Even though we estimate the dimensions by using many equations, we could not recommend which one is better equation for the estimation of fractal dimension. This might be from the self-similarity assumption of equations. Therefore, the assumption and research work of self-affinity will be needed for the appropriate estimation of fractal dimension in river basin.
The purpose of this study is quantitative analysis of the effects of the interactions between stream network and hillslope to hydrologic response functions. To this end general formulation of hydrologic response function is performed based on width function and grid framework. Target basins are Ipyeong and Tanbu basins. From the results of width function estimation even similar sized and closely located basins could have very different hydrologic response function. It is found out that the interactions between stream network and hillslope are essential factors of rainfall-runoff processes because their difference can make the hydrologic response function with positive skewness. The change of velocities of stream network and hillslope might influence the magnitude of peak but time to peak tends to more sensitively respond to velocities of stream network. Lag time of basin would be the result of complex interaction between drainage structures and dynamic properties of river basin.

Total length of stream networks and main stream length vary with topographic map scales, and the stream length of drainage basin on topographic map can be viewed as a fractal. Total length of stream network and main stream length are represented as only stream area ratio($R_a$) based on Horton's laws, thereafter the fractal dimensions of stream network and main stream length are derived as a simple function of stream length($R_L$) and stream area ratios($R_a$) respectively. The derived equations of fractal dimension are applied to Sansung basin in Kum River and compared with the equations already existed. The stream network appeared as space filling with fractal dimension near 2 as map scale increases, while main stream length shows near 1. The results of this study are expected to be helpful in the quantitative analysis of drainage network composition with map scale.
In this paper, we propose a method to detect concept drift by applying Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) in a data stream environment. Since the conventional method compares only the final output value of the CNN and detects it as a concept drift if there is a difference, there is a problem in that the actual input value of the data stream reacts sensitively even if there is no significant difference and is incorrectly detected as a concept drift. Therefore, in this paper, in order to reduce such errors, not only the output value of CNN but also the probability vector are used. First, the data entered into the data stream is patterned to learn from the neural network model, and the difference between the output value and probability vector of the current data and the historical data of these learned neural network models is compared to detect the concept drift. The proposed method confirmed that only CNN output values could be used to reduce detection errors compared to how concept drift were detected.

Most state-of-the-art CNNs for action recognition are based on a two-stream architecture: RGB frames stream represents the appearance and the optical flow stream interprets the motion of action. However, the cost of optical flow computation is very high and then it increases action recognition latency. We introduce a design strategy for action recognition inspired by a two-stream network and teacher-student architecture. There are two sub-networks in our neural networks, the optical flow sub-network as a teacher and the RGB frames sub-network as a student. In the training stage, we distill the feature from the teacher as a baseline to train student sub-network. In the test stage, we only use the student so that the latency reduces without computing optical flow. Our experiments show that its advantages over two-stream architecture in both speed and performance.

Convolutional neural network (CNN) generally uses two-stream architecture RGB and optical flow stream for its action recognition function. RGB frames stream display appearance and optical flow stream interprets its action. However, the standard method of using optical flow is costly in its computational time and latency associated with increased action recognition. The purpose of the study was to evaluate a novel way to create a two sub-networks in neural networks. The optical flow sub-network was assigned as a teacher and the RGB frames as a student. In the training stage, the optical flow sub-network extracts features through the teacher sub-network and transmits the information to student sub-network for baseline training. In the test stage, only student sub-network was operational with decreased in latency without computing optical flow. Experimental results shows that our network fed only by RGB stream gets a competitive accuracy of 54.5% on HMDB51, which is 1.5 times better than that on R3D-18.
