Examining Organizational Factors Impacting IoT Implementation, Production, Services, and Performance in the Thai Manufacturing and Distribution Sector

  • This study investigates the organizational factors including firm size, adaptive capability, absorptive capability, innovative capability, and executive support to determine internet of things, production and services, and organizational performance. Research design, data, and methodology: A quantitative methodology was employed, involving the distribution of surveys to 460 employees occupying managerial and strategic roles. These individuals have accrued a minimum of one year of experience within 20 leading manufacturing and distribution companies in Thailand, each boasting a workforce exceeding 250 employees. Sampling techniques utilized encompass judgmental, quota, and snowball sampling. Furthermore, analysis of the data was conducted through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM). Results: The findings indicate that factors such as firm size, adaptive capability, absorptive capability, and innovative capability exert significant influence on the Internet of Things (IoT). In addition, IoT significantly impacts both production and services. Furthermore, the study highlights the significant influence of production and services on organizational performance. However, the anticipated relationship between executive support and IoT lacks support according to the results. Conclusions: This study highlights the transformative potential of IoT for the manufacturing and distribution sector, paving the way for enhanced efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability in a rapidly evolving business landscape.

Streamlining ERP Deployment in Nepal's Oil and Gas Industry: A Case Analysis

  • Oil and gas industry is a unique sector with complex activities, long supply chains and strict rules for the business. It is important to use enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to address these challenges as it helps in simplifying operations, improving efficiency and facilitating evidence-based decision making. Nonetheless, successful integration of ERP systems in this industry involves careful planning, customization and alignment with specific business processes including regulatory requirements. Several critical factors, such as strong change management, support of top managers and training that works have been identified in the study. Amongst the hurdles are employee resistance towards the changes, data migration complications and integration with existing systems. Nonetheless, NOCL's ERP implementation resulted in significant improvements in operating efficiency, better data visibility and compliance management. It also led to a decrease in financial reporting timeframes, more accurate inventory tracking and improved decision-making capabilities. The study provides useful insights on how to optimize oil and gas sector ERP implementations; key among them is practical advice including strengthening change management strategies, prioritizing data security and collaborating with ERP vendors. The research highlights the importance of tailoring ERP solutions to specific industry needs as well as emphasizes the strategic role of ongoing monitoring/feedback for future benefits sustainability.

  • In order to create a successful regional development model, there should be an effort to foster a strategic industry which boosts a geographical features of rural areas. Because, It must be clear that the strategic industry chosen between choice and concentration of the development of the local industry development which boosts the local economy revitalization. The local government should have continual concern and roles to fulfil political subjects and keep estimating about the possibility that there could be the sustainable development by Task Ahead of the local industry. This study's indicators were established for the adequacy evaluation of the industrial policy by focusing on domestic regional development's success example. Next, Conjoint analysis was conducted on the Experts. On the basis of this analysis, the weights of indicators are derived. And this study suggest the reasonable evaluation system to take Sustainable industry plan of regional strategic. Consequently, 'Regional development' sector separate 3 categories which are 'Local economy', 'Human Resource Development', 'local marketing' and 9 indicators were derived. 'Industrial development' sector derived 9 indicators about 'Construction of infrastructure', 'Technical development' and 'business support'. Looking through the implications of this study. First, the problem needed to be supplemented based on the Diversity and concreteness of Evaluation system when government assesses regional industry development policy. Second, local government have to strategically consider the possibility of convergence between industries and easiness of network in a broad region. Finally, Foundation and support of the professional manpower and companies for the regional industries must be established.

A Study on the Value Added Criterion of Rules of Origin under FTAs with the US and EU: Focusing on Automotive Sector

  • Purpose - This study deals with a strategic plan for meeting the value added criteria effectively, which is one of the methods of determining origin used in preferential trade such as FTA. Automobile products, one of the major Korean export items, were selected to give a practical use against the FTA requirements. Design/methodology - This study is based on the value-added criteria of the Korea-US and Korea-EU FTAs that apply various value-added criteria. The Korea-US FTA adopts the RVC method based on the integration, deduction and net cost methods, while the MC method is employed in the Korea-EU FTA. The methodology used in this work is an extended literature review, analysis of the value-added criteria applied to automobile products under Korea-US and Korea-EU FTA with some secondary statistics. Findings - Based on in - depth analysis of the value - added criteria requirements for automobile products stipulated in the Korea - US FTA and the Korea - EU FTA, two strategic considerations are suggested. First is 'appropriate value-added strategy' and the second is 'strategy of changing production and trade structure'. The second strategy is a bit used in Korea but this is not considered best if the first strategy is ignored or forgotten. The second one is meaningful when this becomes inevitable. Research limitations/implications - This study is primarily designed to assist Korean auto mobile industry players exporting to EU and USA but this may help to auto part or material producers in FTA counter party territories being EU or USA as the preferential tariffs are applied on a inter region basis. A further research other than auto mobiles using other major FTAs might be followed later. Originality/value - There has been so far little research on strategic factors to meet the value-added origin requirements. This study, therefore, is expected to contribute facilitating the decision of FTA origin and to improve the utilization of FTA by allowing exporting companies using value added criterion to more smoothly meet origin requirements. This will also enable the tax authorities to utilize the value-added criterion to validate effectively the origin of imports where preferential tariffs are applied.

Bio-Jet Fuel Production Technologies for GHG Reduction in Aviation Sector (항공분야 온실가스 감축을 위한 바이오항공유 제조기술)

  • Thie study presents the biomass-derived jet (bio-jet) fuel production technologies for greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in aviation sector. The aviation sector is responsible for the 2% of the world anthropogenic $CO_2$ emissions and the 10% of the fuel consumption: airlines' costs for fuel reach 30% of operating costs. In addition, the aviation traffic is expected to double within 15 years from 2012, while fuel consumption and $CO_2$ emissions should double in 25 years. Biojet fuels have been claimed to be one of the most promising and strategic solutions to mitigate aviation emissions. This jet fuel, additionally, must meet ASTM International specifications and potentially be a100% drop-in replacement for current petroleum jet fuel. In this study, the current technologies for producing renewable jet fuels, categorized by alcohols-to-jet, oil-to-jet, syngas-to-jet, and sugar-to-jet pathways are reviewed for process, economic analysis and life cycle assessment (LCA) on conversion pathways to bio-jet fuel.

South-South Collaborations: A Policy Recommendation Model for Sustainable Win-Win Infrastructure Partnerships Based on Sino - Ghana and Nigeria Case.

  • Infrastructure procurement has been a major engagement route between China and Africa. This contributes immensely to the gradual infrastructure development seen on the continent. However, maturing discourse purports that these infrastructure collaborations lack intentionality in the continuous development of strategic guidelines and policies for effective implementation despite their uniqueness and criticality. This study proposes that an efficient approach to policy recommendations is through the political and economic analysis (PEA) of these partnerships using public-private partnership (PPP) optics. Unquestionably, these partnerships are representative of the concept of diplomatic transnational public-private partnership (DT-PPP) where infrastructure is procured through the collaboration of public (African governments) and private sector (Chinese state-owned corporations) who provide the managerial, financial, and technical resources for the project implementation. Given the quest for sustainable win-win, this study identifies strategies towards the realization of win-win in the implementation (i.e enablers of win-win) such that fairness and co-benefit, as well as interests, will be achieved. Thus, based on the PEA framework, case scenarios from Ghana and Nigeria using expert interviews identify the criticalities and best practices for the realization of these enablers at the development phase. Findings indicate more effort is required of the public sector (African host countries) in terms of people, structure/institutions, and the implementation processes. Recommendations include improvement of environmental management structures, contract administration procedures, external stakeholders/local community engagement mechanisms, knowledge and technology transfer procedures, and sector-based project operation and maintenance culture and systems. Additionally, actors must have emotional intelligence, good problem-solving abilities, and overall ensure cordial relationships for continued bilateral cooperation.

  • The smart-car industry has emerged as the important variable that will decide the future industrial contour of the automotive industry, together with commercialization of electronic vehicles, connected cars, infotainment, telematics, and the autonomous/self-driving car. This study analyzes the strategic position of platform companies and car manufacturers that would determine the future of the smart-car market. The findings of this study show that despite the entry barriers in industrial factors, such as economies of scale, the industrial infrastructure, and global production networks, and technical factors like exclusive head-sector information, car manufacturers may be deprived of their industrial leadership by platform companies with map and user data, big data capabilities, and user interface experience if they lag behind ICT innovation. This insight is based on the emerging importance of software and platforms, and the simplification of car structures, proven by the successful commercialization of electronic vehicles. This study complements existing studies mainly focused on technical aspects of the smart-car industry by examining the strategic dimensions of platform companies and their approach to the future smart-car market by comparing them with existing car manufacturing multinationals.

Influence of Perceived Service Clues on Experienced Value, Trust, and Loyalty of Franchise Snack Bar: Focused on Busan Area

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and test a model that explains the effect of perceived service factors on: 1) experienced value, 2) trust, and 3) loyalty in context of franchise snack bar. In addition, the study will clarify how these variables relate to each other. The findings of this study identified that functional and humanic clues are the most significant components which influence on experiential value as well as trust in franchise snack bar sector. These findings may contribute to provide valuable marketing strategic for this business segmentation, and it can be utilized as a fundamental study to establish an efficient business plan to increase revenue in the industry.

  • The purpose of current study is to verify a formulated model that explains the influence of informational clues(Nutritional label information and Mass media information) on subjective knowledge, concern, satisfaction, and behavioral intention toward healthy foods in context of full-service restaurants. The results of present study demonstrated that all informational clues have significant influence on both knowledge and concern about health and the significant relationships were confirmed between knowledge, concern, emotional pleasure, and behavioral intention. This study may contribute to develop meaningful marketing strategic for healthy foods in full-service sector, and it can be utilized as a critical study to establish an attractive business strategics to increase revenue as well as satisfy healthy foods consumers in full-service restaurant consumers.
