This study analyzed several storm events observed in the Seolma-chun basin to derive the characteristic velocity of GIUH (Geomophological Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph) as well as its variability. Especially, this study focused on the variation of characteristic velocity due to the change of rainfall characteristics. The IUH of the Seolma-chun basin was derived using the HEC-1, whose peak discharge and time were then compared with those of the GIUH to derive the characteristic velocities. The characteristics velocities were analyzed by comparing with the GcIUH (Geomorphoclimatic IUH) as well as the characteristics of rainfall. Results are summarized as follows. (1) The characteristic velocity of GIUH was estimated higher with higher variability than the GcIUH, but their trends were found similar (2) Total amount of effective rainfall (or, mean effective rainfall) well explains the characteristic velocity of GIUH. This could be assured by the regression analysis, whose coefficient of determination was estimated about 0.6. (3) The duration and the maximum intensity of rainfall were found not to affect significantly on the characteristic velocity of GIUH. The coefficients of determination were estimated less than 0.3 for all cases considered. (4) For the rainfall events used in this study, the characteristic velocities of GIUH were found to follow the Gaussian distribution with its mean and the standard deviation 0.402 m/s and 0.173 m/s, respectively. Most of the values are within the range of 0.4∼0.5 m/s, and its coefficient of variation was estimated to be 0.43, much less than that of the runoff itself (about 1.0).
SWMM (Storm Water Management Model) has been widely used in the world as a typical model for flood runoff analysis of urban areas. However, the calibration of the model is difficult, which is an obstacle to easy application. The purpose of the study is to develop an automatic calibration module of the SWMM linked with SCE-UA (Shuffled Complex Evolution-University of Arizona) algorithm. Generally, various objective functions may produce different optimization results for an optimization problem. Thus, five single objective functions were applied and the most appropriate one was selected. In addition to the objective function, another objective function was used to reduce peak flow error in flood simulation. They form a multiple objective function, and the optimization problem was solved by determination of Pareto optima. The automatic calibration module was applied to the flood simulation on the catchment of the Guro 1 detention reservoir and pump station. The automatic calibration results by the multiple objective function were more excellent than the results by the single objective function for model assessment criteria including error of peak flow and ratio of volume between observed and calculated flow. Also, the verification results of the model calibrated by the multiple objective function were reliable. The program could be used in various flood runoff analysis in urban areas.

Recently, it is increasing the grape farm which is converted from paddy field to orchard. These soil which are poor drainage extremely also can be damaged a lot by excessive water or flooding during heavy rain season on summer. Therefore the aim of this study was carried out to measure the changes of soil water potential and to compare the growth responses of 'Jinok' (Vitis spp.) and 'Campbell Early' (V. labruscana) grapes under three drainage systems (control, conventional drainage, and under drainage). After heavy rain, soil water potential holding times above -15 kpa applied water excessive were 352, 348 and 180 hours in control, conventional, and under drainage systems, respectively. The clay content of the under drainage system was lower than the other systems about 8-12%. The crop water stress index was lowest in the under drainage and highest in the control. Also, photosynthetic rate has showed the opposite result with crop water stress index. It was significant differences between the treatments but, the value has not shown significantly different between the varieties. In addition, leaf area and the trunk growth rate was more effective in under drainage than in the control and conventional drainage.
The accuracy of rainfall data for a hydrological modeling study is important. NEXRAD (Next Generation Radar) rainfall data estimated by WRS-88D (Weather Surveillance Radar - 1988 Doppler) radar system has advantages of its finer spatial and temporal resolution. In this study, NEXRAD rainfall data was tested and compared with conventional weather station data using the previously calibrated SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model to identify local storms and to analyze the impacts on hydrology. The previous study used NEXRAD data from the year of 2000 and the NEXRAD data was substituted with weather station data in the model simulation in this study. In a selected watershed and a selected year (2006), rainfall data between two datasets showed discrepancies mainly due to the distance between weather station and study area. The largest difference between two datasets was 94.5 mm (NEXRAD was larger) and 71.6 mm (weather station was larger) respectively. The differences indicate that either recorded rainfalls were occurred mostly out of the study area or local storms only in the study area. The flow output from the study area was also compared with observed data, and modeled flow agreed much better when the simulation used NEXRAD data.
This study was conducted to evaluate effects of 2 constructed wetlands with different vegetation states (plumpton park wetland and Woodcroft park wetland) for reducing non-point source pollution from small watershed consisted of residential and agricultural area in suburban district of Sydney, Australia. The total nitrogen and phosphate removal efficiency of Plumpton park constructed wetland, composed of stable and dense vegetation, were 38.3% and 26.2% and Woodcroft park constructed wetland having still poor vegetation due to the short time to settle down transplanted plants after construction, showed relatively low removal efficiency of 20.2% and 14.0%. The removal efficiency of inorganic nutrients such as $NH_4-N$, $NO_3-N$, $PO_4^{-3}$ were higher than total nitrogen and phosphate because plants and microorganisms in rhizosphere of constructed wetlands took up inorganic nutrients shortly. According to the type of wetland inflow, the nutrients removal efficiency of storm water flow was lower than base flow.
Mobile IPv6 spends considerable bandwidth considering that its signal volume is proportional to the mobile and also it should be strengthened to support the binding signal volume, the traffic, and effective mobility. So, the study in NEMO(Network Mobility), an extended version of Mobile IPv6, has been conducted. NEMO provides its mobility by putting several mobiles and more than one portable router into one unit called as mobile network. Because nodes access Internet via the portable router at this time, it receives transparency without any additional work and that much reduces binding signal while solving binding storm. By supporting mobility, NEMO is able to have various mobile structures which realize several networks hierarchically and it is necessary to improve its safety and security by authenticating among the upper networks or the lower ones while moving. Also, it is extremely required to begin a study in the device to improve efficiency accompanied with mobility, which is executed by the fast hand-off as well as the safe authentication. For those reasons, this paper not only classifies various NEMO mobile scenarios into 7 ways, but also provides AAA authentication of each scenario, the authentication through the safety authentication and fast handoff authentication using F+HMIPv6 and the way to reduce both signaling volume and packet delays efficiently during the handoff.

The industrialization of central Europe more than 100 ago marked the beginning of densely concentrated buildings in quickly growing cities. A cheap type of roofing material of that time was tar. But it was dangerous because it was high inflammable. Then some roofer had a splendid idea. They used sandy material as a final layer atop the impermeable tar layer. These roofs were much more fire resistant than the typical roofs. In this sandy layer some plant species began to grow spontaneously. This was the beginning of the green roof history of modern Europe. A number of these green roofs survived both world wars. In the early 80's in Berlin alone, 50 such buildings existed and they continued to be waterproof until the present day. Since the 1992 Earth Summit of 1992 in Rio de Janeiro(http://www.johannesburgsummit.org/html/basic_info/unced.html) the term "sustainable development" became of central interest of urban designers. In city regions green roofs had become synonymous with this term. With a small investment, long-lasting roofs can be created. Further back in history, more exciting examples of green roofs can be found. The hanging gardens of antiquity are well-known. There are also green roofs built as insulation against cold and heat all over the world. For over 20 years, roof greening in central Europe has been closely examined for various reasons. Roof greening touches several different disciplines. Of primary interest is the durability of the roofs. But ecologists are also interested in green roofs, for instance in biodiversity research. The beneficial effect of greening on water proofing was also proven. For some time, the issue of fire protection was investigated. According to tests, green roofs received a harsh careful rating. Their fire protective property is considered similar to that of tile roofs. Another recent impulse for the green roof movement in Germany has come from the evident improvement of storm water retention and the reduced burden on the sewer system. The question of whether and how much energy green roofs can save has become an urgent question. The state of the research and also various open questions from a central European point of view will be discussed in the context of international collaboration. Apart from academic considerations, those who involve themselves in this issue take a predominantly positive view of the numerous existing green roofs in Germany. In some cities, green roofs are the typical construction technique for new buildings. A few outstanding examples will conclude this review. In Germany, about 20 companies, some of which operate internationally, specialize in green roof consulting. Learning from each other in an open-ended way with respect to different construction techniques and applications in various climatic regions can only be accomplished through such international collaboration as is taking place here.

In this study, shallow-water design waves are calculated for the return period of 10, 20, 30, and 50 years, based on the extreme value analysis of the wave measurement data at Gangneung beach. These values are compared with the results of SWAN simulation with the boundary condition of the deep-water design waves of the corresponding return periods at the Gangneung sea area provided by the Fisheries Agency (FA, 1988) and Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute (KORDI, 2005). It is found that the shallow-water wave heights at Gangneung beach calculated by the deep-water design waves were significantly less than the observation data. As the return period becomes higher, the significant wave heights obtained by the extreme value analysis becomes higher than those computed by SWAN with the deep-water design waves of the corresponding return periods. KORDI computed the hindcast wave data from January 2004 to August 2008 by WAM with a finer-grid mesh system than those of previous studies. Comparisons of the wave hindcast results with the wave observation show that the reproducibility of the winter-season storm wave was considerably improved compared to the hindcast data from 1979 to 2003. Hereafter, it is necessary to carry out hindcast wave data for the years before 2004 using WAM with the finer-grid mesh system and to supplement the deep-water design wave.

This study investigates a long-term variation of annual maximum surge heights(AMSH) and main characteristics of high surge events, which is influenced by the global warming and intensifying typhoons, using sea level data at Sokcho and Mukho tidal stations over 34 years ($1974{\sim}2007$). It is found that the there is a longterm uptrend of the AMSH at Sokcho (8.3 cm/34yrs) and at Mukho (8.7 cm/34yrs), which is significant within 95% confidence level based on the linear regression. The statistical analysis reveals that 53% of the AMSH occurs during typhoon's event in both tidal stations and the highest surge records are mostly produced by the typhoon. It is concluded that the uptrend in the AMSH is attributed by the increasing typhoon activities globally as well as locally in Korea due to the increased sea surface temperature in tropical oceans. The continuous efforts monitering and predicting the extreme surge events in the future warm environments are required to prevent the growing storm surge damage by the intensified typhoon.

In order to cope with the abnormally high waves during the storm surge due to climate change, various methods have been proposed for interlocking adjacent caissons to enhance stability of harbor structures. Among the methods, it was studied the method based on an open-cell caisson having reduction effect increasing the cohesion with adjunction caissons by filling materials such as crushed rocks in an inter-cell formed by two facing open-cells which consist of transverse walls. It is necessary to investigate the shear behaviors of an inter-cell to secure the stability using calculating shear forces on inter-cell under oblique wave loadings. It was analyzed the shear force share ratio with the length of internal and external wall and the number of internal walls. Numerical results show that 60~70% of the shear load is transmitted to adjacent caisson through the internal walls, more than 30% is through the external wall. It was applicable in the assumption that filling materials was uniformly distributed in inter-cells, and further studies were worth consideration on other conditions under construction.
