  • This study was investigated about preparation of ice at home and developing points which met consumer's demand that was focused on auto icemaker. According to purposive quota sampling method, residences in Seoul and Kyunggi-do area were selected and interviewed by trained interviewer at August 1995. The results were as follows: 66.3% of respondent usually prepared ice in ice-making container of refrigerator and used when they needed. 85% of them used ice in summer and seldomly used in other seasons. Boiling water with barley was major drinking water(45.6%), and broiled or purified tap water was used to make ice(38.6%) commonly. Numbers of ice-making container were two(66.0%). Above 50% of respondents replied that they felt off-flavor in ice usually. After felt off-flavor, 54.7% of respondent threw away the ice, some of them used off-flavored ice after treatment to washing with water. 64.9% of respondents thought that the origins of off-flavor was the flavor of refrigerator itself. The consumer's expectation of developing points were as follows. The most priority of developing points was to make ice quickly, the next was to develop auto ice maker and ice storage container, to make different size of ice. Less expected points were to make more clear ice and large volume of ice in one time. The recognition about auto ice maker was slightly low(35% of respondents), but 67% of them wanted to develop auto ice maker.

  • An important operational goal of a container terminal is to maximize the efficiency of the operation of quay cranes (QCs) that load and/or unload containers onto and from vessels. While the maximization of the efficiency of the QC operation requires minimizing the delay of yard tractors (YT) that transport containers between the storage yard and QCs, the delay is often inevitable because of traffic congestion. In this paper, we propose a method for learning a model that predicts traffic speed in a terminal using only YT operation data, even though the YT traffic is mixed with that of external trucks. Without any information on external truck traffic, we could still make a reasonable traffic forecast because the YT operation data contains information on the YT routes in the near future. The results of simulation experiments showed that the model learned by the proposed method could predict traffic speed with significant accuracy.

  • The law enforcement agencies in the worldwide are confiscating or retaining computer systems involved in a crime/civil case, if there are any, at the preliminary investigation stage, even though the case does not involve a cyber-crime. They are collecting digital evidences from the suspects's systems and using them in the essential investigation procedure. It requires much time, though, to collect, duplicate and analyze disk images in general crime cases, especially in cases in which rapid response must be taken such as kidnapping and murder cases. The enterprise forensics, moreover, it is impossible to acquire and duplicate hard disk drives in mass storage server, database server and cloud environments. Therefore, it is efficient and effective to selectively collect only traces of the behavior of the user activities on operating systems or particular files in focus of triage investigation. On the other hand, if we acquire essential digital evidences from target computer, it is not forensically sound to collect just files. We need to use standard digital evidence container from various sources to prove integrity and probative of evidence. In this article, we describe a new digital evidence container, we called Xebeg, which is easily able to preserve collected digital evidences selectively for using general technology such as XML and PKZIP compression technology, which is satisfied with generality, integrity, unification, scalability and security.

  • Purpose: As fire accidents happen at the production and storage sites of superabsorbent polymers for convenience of daily life, an experimental study was conducted to secure basic data to establish practical preventive measures against them. Method: The sample container (20cm width × 20cm length) was made into a rectangular cuboid with the heights of 3cm, 5cm, 7cm, and 14cm, respectively, to allow access to the infinite flat plane. The front and back of the container were covered with a 300-mesh stainless steel mesh for one-dimensional heat transfer. The sample container was placed in the center of the thermostatic bath, which was heated to a predetermined temperature by setting the thermostat program in advance, and it was determined to be 'ignited' when the central temperature of the sample rose by more than 20℃ above the set temperature, and "unignited" when it was maintained at an approximate value of the set temperature. Result: The critical autoignition temperature was calculated to be 217.5℃ when the height of the sample container was 3 cm, 212.5℃ when it was 5 cm, 202.5℃ when it was 7cm, and 187.5℃ when it was 14cm. The ignition induction time to reach the maximum temperature was 34hours for 3cm, 76hours for 5cm, 143hours for 7cm, and 318hours for 14cm. Conclusion: ① As the size of the container increased, the autoignition temperature decreased and the induction time to reach the maximum temperature increased. ② An apparent activation energy was calculated to be 44.92kcal/mol, with a correlation of 96.93%.

  • Effects of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatment and controlled atmosphere (CA) storage was analyzed for the export quality of 'Fuji' apples after 8-month storage. Apples were harvested from two orchards located in different regions at relatively late stage of maturity for long-term storage. Fruit were treated with 1 ${\mu}L{\cdot}L^{-1}$ 1-MCP and then stored in $0^{\circ}C$ air or CA with 1.5 kPa $O_2$ and < 1.0 kPa $CO_2$ for 8 months. To simulate poststorage export process such as 2-week refrigerated container shipment plus 7-day local distribution, fruit were put in $0^{\circ}C$ air storage for additional two weeks and then on the shelf for 7 days at $20^{\circ}C$. Both the 1-MCP treatment and CA storage reduced respiration and ethylene evolution after storage and shipping simulation, and successfully maintained titratable acidity and flesh firmness even after the export process. In 'Fuji' apples harvested after adequate stage of maturity for long-term storage, however, 1-MCP treatment alone seemed not to be satisfactory for the maintenance of sensorial fruit texture for export market. CA storage or 1-MCP treatment/CA storage combination program should be applied for lately harvested 'Fuji' apples exported after eight months storage.

  • Quality changes of over-wintering satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc. var. miyagawa) during storage by chitosan and calcium treatment and type of storage warehouse were investigated. Citrus were treated with 2000-folds diluted iminoctadime-triacetate solution and 1.5% chitosan with 0.5% CaCl$_2$ solutions and were at 30$\^{C}$ far 24 h before storage. The citrus of about 12 kg/26 L plastic container were stored at room temperature, and at 4$\^{C}$ with 87% relative humidity. Chitosan and CaCl$_2$ solution treated citrus fruits were showed lower in decay ratio than the ones without treatment. Also, these chitosan and calcium treated citrus fruits skewed less in weight loss, that seems it also has restraining effect of fruits' transpiration. Decay ratio of citrus with precise temperature and humidity control were lower than the others during storage. Weight loss, moisture content of peel and flesh were decreased slowly during storage. 0.84 ∼0.90% of acid content were decreased on 120 days' storage. Reducing sugar of citrus was decreased rapidly after 90 days, and vitamin C content were also decreased rapidly after 60 days during storage.

  • The effect of the packing methods for enhancing the shelf life and improving the postharvest quality of the $tah$ $tasai$ Chinese cabbage baby leaf vegetable was studied during storage. Fresh baby leaf vegetables were packed in four commercial packaging types: (1) a non-perforated bag with a 0.03-mm oriented polypropylene (OPP) film; (2) a perforated bag with 1.0-mm-diameter holes on an OPP film; (3) a 0.40-mm polyethylene terephthalate (PET) container with a hinged lid; and (4) an expanded polystyrene (EPS) tray wrapped with a 0.02-mm polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film. The quality parameters, such as the weight loss, moisture content change, color difference, and appearance of the baby leaf vegetables were investigated. The baby leaf vegetables in the PET container and in the non-perforated OPP film bag showed relatively low weight loss, high moisture content, and good external appearance compared to those in the EPS tray and in the perforated OPP film bag during limited storage periods, at $16^{\circ}C$. The PET container also protected the baby leaf vegetables from physical damage. The study results will enable the selection of a better packaging system for extending the freshness and increasing the market ability of baby leaf vegetables.

  • A catalyst-plasma reactor was applied to the storage of agricultural products, e.g., apple and kiwi, to remove the ethylene generated during the storage. Two 1-m3 unit containers were prepared, and the long-term storage stability of the control group at room temperature was compared with that of the experimental group of which the produced ethylene was treated by the catalyst-plasma reactor. In case of the experimental group, a small amount of ozone was injected to the unit container to suppress the growth of microorganisms such as mold. The apples and kiwis were stored at room temperature for 50 and 57 days, respectively, and the changes in ethylene concentration, hardness, sugar content, acidity, and loss rate were compared. The ethylene concentration during the storage for the control group was higher than that for the experimental group, indicating that the ethylene was effectively removed. Hardness, sugar content, and sugar acid ratio after the storage were better than before the storage, and in particular, the storage stability of kiwifruit was improved significantly. In addition, after the storage, the loss rates of apples and kiwis in the control group were 10 and 54.1%, respectively, but the loss rates in the experimental group were 6 and 34.8%, respectively. Therefore, the storage stability of the experimental group was a lot better than that of the control group.
