  • Supply chains for agricultural commodities with their various constraints such as production lead time, seasonal production, and methods of storage are limited in the extent to which techniques like Just-in-Time (JIT) inventory management can be applied. It is beyond the ability of producers to control harvest time and many agricultural products are perishable so that they can incur exceptional losses in storage if they are not handled correctly. This is a source of additional costs and inefficiency in supply chain management. The purpose of this study is to reduce or eliminate such sources of loss and inefficiency and to identify success factors for the JIT inventory management system where it can be applied for agricultural products. Where ]IT techniques can be applied in supply chain management for agricultural products, costs such as transportation, inventory, and storage losses can be reduced with concurrent increases in efficiency. In the paper, some of the problems associated with applying ]IT inventory control methods in supply chain management for agricultural commodities will be reported through a series of case studies.

  • This study assessed the applicability of medium molecular weight chitosan solution at different concentrations (0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and 2% w/v) in houndfish preservation. Furthermore, by comparing chitosan-coated fish and the uncoated ones (i.e., treated with distilled water [DW] and 1% acetic acid [AA] solution), the study determined the effectiveness of the chitosan coating on the preservation of on-skin houndfish during ice storage for 20 days. The quality of chitosan-coated houndfish was investigated by periodical analysis for microbiological (total viable count), chemical (pH, water holding capacity, total volatile basic nitrogen of refrigerated houndfish, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, TCA-soluble peptide, and sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis), physical parameters (hardness, and color), and sensory properties. According to the findings, the methods of using 1.5% and 2% chitosan solutions showed better preservation results than others. These methods were found to be the most effective coatings for maintaining the quality of houndfish compared to the treatments involving DW and 1% AA solution.

  • Digital vector maps must be compressed effectively for transmission or storage in Web GIS (geographic information system) and mobile GIS applications. This paper presents a polyline compression method that consists of polyline feature-based hybrid simplification and second derivative-based data compression. Experimental results verify that our method has higher simplification and compression efficiency than conventional methods and produces good quality compressed maps.

  • Storage methods to suppress growth of transplants and maintain their quality are required for successful commercial transplant production, since peak demand for transplants of flower or vegetable species falls during limited periods in spring and fall, due to the seasonal nature of the horticulture industry. Plug seedlings, probably due to their high planting density and limited rhizosphere, easily elongated or overgrown during the holding period before the market or greenhouse space is available. • The investigation of subsynchronous resonance by utilities has resulted in proposed and applied method to mitigate or eliminate SSRdamage to turbine generators. Many papers presented various methods and devices that can be used as countermeasures for the SSR. This paper introduced the availability of Superconducting magnet energy storage as an countermeasure for the SSR in the capacitor compensated transmission line.

  • KOMPSAT-2 provides two different imaging methods, direct imaging and playback imaging. For playback imaging operation KOMPSAT-2 has a storage device called DCSU (Data Compression & Storage Unit) to hold images taken before. Compression function is necessary to save memory space and data transmission time to ground station. There are several parameters for compression like compression ratio. Due to DCSU architectural characteristics and KOMPSAT-2 operational limitations, there are some restrictions on selecting compression parameters. This paper will provide selecting guides on compression parameters.

  • In this paper, we propose a new incremental gradient method for solving a regularized minimization problem whose objective is the sum of m smooth functions and a (possibly nonsmooth) convex function. This method uses an adaptive stepsize. Recently proposed incremental gradient methods for a regularized minimization problem need O(mn) storage, where n is the number of variables. This is the drawback of them. But, the proposed new incremental gradient method requires only O(n) storage.

  • Energy saving is a very important subject for research workers nowadays. While most people are concerning with the modern methods, the authors investigated this problem from another angle- the chinese traditional methods of energy saving. The tunnel with technique and its combination with computer simulation and fuzzy compressive judgement methods are discussed. Earth heat green house, marsh gas, solar energy underground storage system, storing of nature cold sources, have been introduced in this paper.

  • PURPOSE. Vinyl polyether silicone (VPES) has a different composition from other elastomeric impression materials as it combines vinyl polysiloxane (VPS) and polyether (PE). Therefore, it is important to study its properties and behavior under different test conditions. This study investigated the dimensional stability of 5 VPES consistencies when stored for up to 2 weeks, with and without using a standard disinfection procedure. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 40 discs of each VPES consistency (total 200) were made using a stainless steel die and ring as described by ANSI /ADA specification No. 19. 20 discs of each material were immersed in a 2.5% buffered glutaraldehyde solution for 30 minutes. Dimensional stability measurements were calculated immediately after fabrication and repeated on the same discs after 7 and 14 days of storage. The data was analyzed using two-way ANOVA with a significance level set at ${\alpha}=0.05$. RESULTS. The discs mean contraction was below 0.5% at all test times ranging from $0.200{\pm}0.014$ to $0.325{\pm}0.007$. Repeated measures ANOVA showed a statistically significant difference after 2-week storage between the disinfected and non-disinfected groups (P < .001). Although there was no statistically significant difference between the materials at the time of fabrication, the contraction of the materials increased with storage for 1 and 2 weeks. CONCLUSION. The dimensional changes of VPES impression discs after disinfection and prolonged storage complied with ANSI/ADA standard. The tested VPES impression materials were dimensionally stable for clinical use after disinfection for 30 minutes in glutaraldehyde and storage for up to 2 weeks.
