  • Due to the steady growth of the online shopping market and contact-free consumption, the volume of parcels in South Korea continues to increase. However, there is a lack of manpower for delivery workers to handle the growing parcel volume, leading to frequent accidents related to delivery work. As a result, the government and local authorities strive to enhance last-mile logistics efficiency. As one of these measures, unmanned parcel storage lockers are installed and utilized to handle last-mile deliveries. However, the existing parcel storage involves the inconvenience of couriers having to put each parcel in each locker, and this is somewhat insufficient to relieve the workload of delivery workers. In this study, we propose parcel storage devices that use active loading technology to minimize the workload of delivery workers, extract operation risk factors to apply this system to actual sites, and establish risk reduction methods based on the ALARP concept. Through this study, we have laid the groundwork for improving the safety of the system by identifying and proposing mitigation measures for the risk factors associated with the proposed parcel storage devices utilizing active loading technology. When applied in practical settings in the future, this foundation will contribute to the development of a more efficient and secure system. By applying the ALARP concept, a systems engineering technique used in this research, to the development and maintenance of storage devices leveraging active loading technology, it is thought to make the development process more systematic and structured. Furthermore, through the risk management of the proposed system, it is anticipated that a systematic approach to quality management can be employed to minimize defects and provide a stable system. This is expected to be more useful than the existing unmanned parcel storage devices.

  • We measured the surface flatness of both sides for refractive media using the transmitted digital holography method. To enhance the accuracy of the result, phase-shifting system was used. With two different phase modulation of reference beam, the phase profile of object can be easily obtained. Thus, we proposed the surface measurement method which can measure large area fast, compared with conventional methods. To guarantee the reliability of obtained result, we compared with Zygo measurement system. With the proposed method, the surface flatness of $3.45{\mu}m$ resolution could be obtained.

  • The academic research works about liquid storage tanks are reviewed for the purpose of providing valuable reference to the engineering practice on their aseismic design. A summary of the performance of tanks during past earthquakes is described in this paper. Next, the seismic response of tanks under unidirectional earthquake is reported, supplemented with the dynamic response under multidirectional motions. Then, researches on the influence of soil-structure interaction are brought out to help modify the seismic design approach of tanks in different areas with variable properties of soils. Afterwards, base isolation systems are reported to demonstrate their effectiveness for the earthquake-resistant design of liquid storage tanks. Further, researches about the liquid-structure interaction are reviewed with description of simplified models and numerical analytical methods, some of which consider the elastic effect of tank walls. Moreover, the liquid sloshing phenomenon on the hydrodynamic behaviors of tanks is presented by various algorithms including grid-based and meshfree method. And then the impact of baffles in changing the dynamic characteristics of the liquid-structure system is raised, which shows the energy dissipation by the vortex motion of liquid. In addition, uplifting effect is given to enhance the understanding on the capacity of unanchored tanks and some assessment of their development. At last, the concluding remarks and the aspects of extended research in the field of liquid storage tanks under seismic loads are provided, emphasizing the thermal stress analysis, the replaceable system for base isolation, the liquid-solid interaction and dynamic responses with stochastic excitations.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the stability of a decoction using three herbal plants and their major components according to the storage conditions and periods. Materials and Methods: A three-herb mixture (1:1:1) of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fischer, Artemisia capillaris Thunberg, and Poncirus trifoliata Rafinesqui was decocted and kept at room temperature ($25{\pm}2^{\circ}C$) or cold temperature ($4^{\circ}C$) for 0, 2, 4 or 8 weeks in liquid form in a plastic pack under dark conditions. At time points given, they were lyophilized. 200 mg of powdered samples were dissolved in 1 mL of 90% methanol and then applied to a high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) with glycyrrhizin, 6,7-dimethoxycoumarin or poncirin for quantitative or qualitative analysis. Results: There were no gross changes in HPTLC-based compositional band-patterns of the three herbal mixture according to the storage conditions and period. The major components of each herb, glycyrrhizin, 6,7-dimethoxycoumarin and poncirin, showed slight time-dependent reduction in their contents both at room and cold temperature for 8 weeks. Conclusion: We could conclude that the current herbal decoction is generally safe for the stability at both RT or CT for at least 8 weeks. Nevertheless, we proposed that further advanced studies are required for more multiple herbal mixtures and longer storage periods.

  • With the increase of electrical consumption and the unbalance of power demand and supply, power reserve rate is getting smaller and also the reliability of the power supply is getting deteriorated. Under this circumstance, the electrical energy storage (EES) System is considered as one of essential countermeasure for demand side management. This paper proposes efficient evaluation algorithms of multiple functions for EES systems, especially the secondary battery energy storage systems, in the case where they are interconnected with the power distribution systems. It is important to perform the economic evaluation for the new energy storage systems in a quantitative manner, because they are very costly right now. In this paper, the multiple functions of EES systems such as load levelling, effective utilization of power distribution systems and uninterruptible power supply are classified, and then the quantitative evaluation methods for their functions are proposed. From the case studies, it is verified that EES systems installed at distribution systems in a dispersed manner have multiple functions involved with direct and indirect benefits and also they can be expected to introduce to distribution systems with respects to economical point of view.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the benefits of storing grapes through precooling, which is easier and more economical than the existing methods of storage. According to the analysis on the weight loss ratio, which is considered an important indicator of grape storage, the time at which the grapes reached 7% weight loss was prolonged by 5 to 10 days by the precooling method. Moreover, the percentage of abnormality on the 31st day of storage was at most 25% less in the precooled grapes than in the non-precooled grapes. In addition, the total bacterial count and the hardness of the precooled grapes were superior to those of the non-precooled grapes. Therefore, the precooling process markedly improved the commercial value of grapes.

  • Postharvest handling of sweetpotatoes is inevitable procedure for the maintenance, storage, management and utilization of high fresh quality of storage roots. It ranges in degree from simple lifting of roots, carrying them from field to storage house and immediate consumption after cooking, to sophisticated methods of curing, and storage under controlled conditions followed by processing into a high quality food products. Postharvest saleability, quality and nutritional value of roots and the presence or absence in roots of bitter, toxic furanoterpenoid phytoalexins or mycotoxins depends greatly on the degree and types of treatment to which produce is subjected. Climatic and soil conditions before harvest and contamination or attack by microorganisms or insect pests in the field may initiate or enhance subsequent postharvest deterioration. Careless postharvest handling can lead to both quantitative and qualitative losses which may be extremely high in some circumstances. Research has concentrated on the improvement of preharvest conditions to increase yield and lower decrease rates. However, such efforts are wasted unless they go hand in hand with others designed to reduce the high degree of loss associated with careless postharvest handling.

  • Nickel-matal hydride(Ni-MH) batteries are receiving attention as non-pollunting. high performance rehargeable energy stoage system. The performance of Ni-Mh is significantly influenced by the hydrogen storage alloy materiels used as an anode material. Recently, having discharge capacities higher than the $AB_5$-type hydrogen storage alloys, the Zr-based $AB_2$-Type hydrogen storage alloys has remaining problems regarding cycle life and self-dischareg. These problems need to be solved by improvements in the alloy design and/or surface treatment. This work investiggates the effects the effects of surface property by fluorination on $Zr_{0.7}Ti_{0.3}V_{0.4}Mn_{0.4}Ni{1.2}$ composittion $AB_2$-Type hydrogen storage alloys. EPMA, SEM and AES techniques were used for surface analysis, and the crystal structure was characterized by constant current cycling test and potential sweep methods. Fluorination was found to be effective when La-was incorporated into the alloy, and has unique morphology, higher reactivity, and at the same time formed a protective film. Through, fluorination, the cycle life of an electrode was found to increase significantly, charge/discharge characteristics of the electrode the potential difference between the charge/discharge plateau, i.e polarization(overpotential)were improved.

  • Methods by which liquid egg could be stored in liquid state at frozen storage temperature$(-15^{\circ}C)$ with selected cryoprotectants and enzyme treatment were investiated, and quality changes in samples during storage were examined. The concentration of cryoprotectants (45% fructose and 55% glucose) to be added to egg yolk and whole egg to store them at $-15^{\circ}C$ in unfrozen state were 45.2% and 70.3%, respectively. Changes in consistency, precipitation of protein and microstructure of egg samples during storage indicated that adding cryoprotectants to liquid egg could effectively inhibit development of gelation during storage at $-15^{\circ}C$. Treating liquid egg with 0.15% papain could inhibit gelation during storage to some extent.
