In this paper, we study validation test methods of DEVSA(Descrete Event system Specification) models using SPN(Stochastic Petri Net) models. We discuss conventional validation test methods, by which DEVS models can be transformed to SPN models, by reviewing the features of DEVS model. Based on the model transformation method, we define a new homogeneous function for validation test and suggest a new validation test method of DEVS models using the property of SPN models and the new homogeneous function.

In this paper, we present a Petri Net (PN) model for reliability analysis of a shared database system. The system consists of components; a database, two processors, two memory and a bus. The database should be operational and at least one of the component should be also operational. Otherwise system will be down. Each component can be failed and repaired individually. Stochastic Reward Net (SRN) Model for reliability analysis is developed. SRN is potential to define various reward function and can be easily used to obtain performance measures. The modeling techniques using variable cardinality, enabling function, timed transition priority in SRN are shown.

In wireless mobile communication systems, priority of voice service through high speed data and multimedia transmission requires increased service diversification. Research is being carried out in this environment, on the call admission control techniques to guarantee the diversified service's QoS. SRN (Stochastic Reward Net) is an extended version of Petri nets, well know modeling and analysis tool. In this paper, we develop SRN call admission control model considering the 4 classes of services in the 4th generation IEE 802.16e mobile communication Technology.

High speed switches have been developing to interconnect a large number of nodes. It is important to analyze the switch performance under various conditions to satisfy the requirements. Queueing analysis, in general, has the intrinsic problem of large state space dimension and complex computation. In fact, The petri net is a graphical and mathematical model. It is suitable for various applications, in particular, manufacturing systems. It can deal with parallelism, concurrence, deadlock avoidance, and asynchronism. Currently it has been applied to the performance of computer networks and protocol verifications. This paper presents a framework for modeling and analyzing ATM switch using stochastic activity networks (SANs). In this paper, we provide the ATM switch model using SANs to extend easily and an approximate analysis method to apply A TM switch models, which significantly reduce the complexity of the model solution. Cell arrival process in output-buffered Queueing A TM switch with finite buffer is modeled as Markov Modulated Poisson Process (MMPP), which is able to accurately represent real traffic and capture the characteristics of bursty traffic. We analyze the performance of the switch in terms of cell-loss ratio (CLR), mean Queue length and mean delay time. We show that the SAN model is very useful in A TM switch model in that the gates have the capability of implementing of scheduling algorithm.
Virtualization is a promising approach to consolidating multiple online services onto a smaller number of computing resources. A virtualized server environment allows computing resources to be shared among multiple performance isolated platforms called virtual machines. Through server virtualization software, applications servers are encapsulated into VMs, and deployed with APIs on top generalized pools of CPU and memory resources. Networking and security have been moved to a software abstraction layer that transformed computing, network virtualization. And it paves the way for enterprise to rapidly deploy networking and security for any application by creating the virtual network. Stochastic reward net (SRN) is an extension of stochastic Petri nets which provides compact modeling facilities for system analysis. In this paper, we develop SRN model of network virtualization based on virtual switch. Measures of interest such as switching delay and throughput are considered. These measures are expressed in terms of the expected values of reward rate functions for SRNs. Numerical results are obtained according to the virtual switch capacity and number of active VMs.

In this paper, a tightly-coupled multiprocessor system is implemented with four processing elements based on MC68000 CPU, a common menory (128KB), and a single time-shared bus. The multi-tasking operating system, MTOS, is modified so that the multiprocessor system can support multitasking and multiprocessing. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated by stochastic Petri Net system modeling. The efficiency and the processing power are simulated for various load factors and up to 16 PEs. By running benchmark programs, such as quicksort, FFT, and matrix-multiplication, the speed of parallel processing is compared with that of a single processor.

In this paper, DPA bus is proposed for implementation of MC 68000 based tightly-coupled multiprocessor system. The DPMC and arbiter are designed that the local memory of each PE can accept memory request both from a local processor and from the system bus. The performance of the proposed system bus is evaluated by Stochastic Petri Net(SPN) system modeling. The processing power, the efficiency, and the utilization of system bus are simulated for various load factors.
In this paper, we present a new hierarchical model for performance analysis of channel allocation and packet service protocol in wireless n network. The proposed hierarchical model consists of two parts : upper and lower layer models. The upper layer model is the structure state model representing the state of the channel allocation and call service. The lower layer model, which captures the performance of the system within a given structure state, is the wireless packet retransmission protocol model. These models are developed using SRN which is an modeling tool. SRN, an extension of stochastic Petri net, provides compact modeling facilities for system analysis. To get the performance index, appropriate reward rates are assigned to its SRN. Fixed point iteration is used to determine the model parameters that are not available directly as input. That is, the call service time of the upper model can be obtained by packet delay in the lower model, and the packet generation rates of the lower model come from call generation rates of the upper model.

Existing instruments are composed independently according to their function and user constructed instrumentation system with those instruments. But in the late 1980s VXI bus enables to construct instrumentation system with various modular type instruments. For an VXI bus system with the word serial protocol, an increase of data size can degrade the system performance. In this paper shared memory protocol is proposed to overcome performance degradation. The shared memory protocol is analyzed using the GSPN and compared with that of the word serial protocol. It is shown that the shared memory protocol has a better performance than the word serial protocol. The VXI bus message based-system with the proposed shared memory protocol is constructed and experimented with signal generating device and FFT analyzing device. Up to 80 KHz input signal the result of FFT analysis is accurate and that result is agree with that of conventional FFT analyzer. In signal generating experiment from 100 KHz to 1.1 GHz sine wave is generated.
