  • Narcolepsy is a central neurologic system disease. It begins early in life with disabling symptoms including excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy, sleep paralysis, hypnagogic hallucination and nocturnal sleep fragmentation. Patient with typical symptoms of narcolepsy is diagnosed by objective data from nocturnal polysomnography and multiple sleep latency tests. Narcolepsy is controlled with various medications. Nowadays, modafinil with favorable side effects profiles compared with traditional stimulant is mainly used. Gamma hydroxyl butyrate is effective in cataplexy. Cataplexy is also controlled with antidepressant such as Venlafaxine, SSRI, and TCA. As the knowledge of pathophysiology of narcolepsy expands, new treatment including immunological method, application of hypocretin and histamine systems have been tried.

  • Among the many protein modifications methylation is being investigated actively with regard to bacterial chemotaxis, gene regulation, muscle contraction, cytochrome c methylation, and the synthesis of the acyl transporter, carnitine. In this study the activities of protein methylase I, II, and III in pancreatic tissues of rat, mouse, and guinea pig were examined. Furthermore, the effect of cholinergic agents on the activity of protein methylases in pancreatic fragment of guinea pig was also examined in order to test the relationship between protein methylation and pancreatic secretion. The results are as follows. 1) The activities of protein methylases were generally high in pancreatic tissues of guinea pig and mouse but low in the tissue of rat. 2) The cholinergic stimulants, acetylcholine and carbachol at a concentration of $10^{-5}M$ decreased the activities of protein methylase I, II, and III compared with unstimulated control. 3) The inhibitory effect of the cholinergic stimulant on the activities of protein methylases was not blocked by atropine at a concentration of $10^{-5}M$.

  • Coffee is a popular beverage with many people at home and in the tea-room, Caffeine is a major chemical compound of the coffee. A little caffeine is a stimulant to the movement and spiritual nerve, but much caffeine influences sleep, nervousness, non-concentration, headache and giddliness depending upon each person. The writhe expresses the result of the caffeine content in the coffee which is collected from the coffee-shapes of Seoul. The contents are as follows : 1) Caffeine content of the coffee of the tea-room was researched dividing into the contral Seoul city and the outskirts of Seoul. 2) Caffeine content of the coffee in the outskirts tea-rooms is 0.32-1.23 mg/ml and the average is 0.546 mg/ml (SD 0.19). 3) Caffeine content of the coffee of the central city is 0.34-0.73 mg/ml and the average is 0.513 mg/ml (SD 0.12). 4) There was no difference between the outskirts and the central city. 5) Caffeine content of the coffee of the tea-rooms according to each season is going to be researched.

  • Nl and N2 gross neural action potentials were measured from the round window of the guinea pig cochlea at the onset of the acoustic stimuli. Nl -N2 audiograms were made by means of regulating stimulant intensities in order to produce constant Nl -N2 potentials as criteria for different input tone pip frequencies. The lowest threshold was measured with an input tone pip 15 dB SPL in intensity and 12 KHz in frequency when the animal was in normal physiological condition. The procedure of experimental measurements is explained in detail. This experimental approach is very useful for the investigation of the Cochlear function. Both nonlinear and active functions of the Cochlea can be monitored by Nl -N2 audiograms. Key words : Guinea Pig, Cochlea, Wl and N2 Gross Neural Action Potential, Nl -N2 audiogram.

  • Recently, the flooding of rivers caused by rainy season and heavy rains in Korea causes economic and environmental problems such as flood damage and urban flooding. Therefore, in order to solve these problems, local governments use landscaping methods and drainage facilities to prevent them, but they are not perfect solutions. Domestic awareness also lacks awareness to worry about flooding only during rainy seasons and heavy rains, and to worry about or prevent flooding in the region. In order to solve this problem, we recognize the importance of permeable blocks nationwide and replace or install permeable paving materials on most sidewalks. However, since existing permeable blocks used cement as the main material, calcium carbonate is produced when reacted with water. Efflorescence occurs, and the resulting calcium carbonate blocks the pores of the permeation block, causing a decrease in permeability.

  • The research is to develop cost methodology to support railway managers for identifying principles, tools and methods of activity based management correctly and precisely, and can be useful and effective for managers for realizing their goals. The research result a ministry can be suitable guideline in terms of how to execute activity based management. Since in this research, main and secondary activities are studied completely in the Railway organization, it can be an explanatory research. The research population is headquarter managers and experts of railway organization and the sampling procedure is goal-oriented and judgmental. 74 people were selected by using a formula. All hypotheses were tested in 95% significance level. Meanwhile a proposed process of applying. activity based management was offered.

  • Zingiber officinale is a spice which is having a strong historical medicinal background and used by different systems of medicine for various ailments. It is also used to maintain the characteristic sharpness and tangy essence of food and beverages and used in carbonated drinks, as a conserve in sugar syrup. Ginger considered as an incredible drug for inflammation, gastrointestinal problems, pain and sexual problems since centuries. There are many studies carried out in recent years, which proves that the active constituents of ginger shows a variety of pharmacological effects like antiemetic, hepatoprotective, anti hyperlipidemic and antibacterial. The most momentous among all the nutraceutical aspects of ginger are its positive control on gastrointestinal tract including digestive stimulant action, anticancer effect and anti-inflammatory effect.

  • The cement industry is a large amount of carbon dioxide emission industry, and research and development on non-cement composition is underway at the time when the absolute reduction of cement use is urgently needed. In addition, limestone fine powder is a by-product and is required to be recycled in terms of resource circulation. The compressive strength of the lime cement powder added noncement composition showed that the compressive strength increased as the limestone powder was added. It is believed that limestone fine powder played a role of stimulant such as alkali activator in non-cement composition.

  • Methamphetamine is a powerful stimulant that appears to produce locomotor activity and behavioral sensitization. Previous study has indicated that dopaminergic receptors are implicated in the behavioral responses of methamphetamine. Recently, it has been reported that other receptors, especially, M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (M1R) plays an important role in the regulation of behavioral responses, and this receptor is abundantly expressed in brain regions, including the cerebral cortex, striatum, and the hippocampus of the animal. • This study examines the performance of CBS-Dust for the utilization of cement bricks as alkali stimulants for furnace slag replacement binders. It converts the CBS-Dust substitution rate and the excess slag substitution rate. According to the analysis, when replacing CBS-Dust with 65~70 % of BS substitution rate and 7.5~10 % of CBS-Dust, it shows excellent performance as an alkali stimulant of BS' potential hydrophobic reaction, and it is expected to be effective for secondary products of BS replaced in large quantities.
