5.1 채널 오디오 신호를 스테레오 신호로 변환하는 디지털 다운믹서 개발 (Development of a Digital Down-mixer to Convert 5.1 Channel Audio Signals to Stereo Signals)

  • Use of the 5.1 channel audio signals suitable for the television system is improper for the radio broadcasting system, which uses the stereo audio system. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an audio down-mixer to convert 5.1 multi-channel audio signals to stereo signals for radio broadcasting. In this paper, a development of an audio down-mixer was carried out to convert 5.1 multi-channel audio signals to stereo signals. The down-mixer which was developed can use the audio signals separated from video signals, including sound signals or individual signals provided from 3-channel AES/EBU signals including Left(L), Right(R), Left Surround(Ls), Right Surround(Rs), Center(C) and Low Frequency Effect(Lfe) sounds as mixer inputs.

스테레오 음향반향제거기의 BSS 후처리방법 (Post Processing using Blind Signal Separation in Stereo Acoustic Echo Canceller)

  • This paper is on a stereo acoustic echo canceller with the blind signal separation for post processing. The convergence speed of the stereo acoustic echo canceller is deteriorated due to mixing two residual signals which are update signals of each echo canceller. To solve this problem, we are to use the blind signal separation(BSS) method separating the mixed signals after the echo cancellers. The blind signal separation method can extracts the source signals by means of the iterative computations with two input signals. We had verified performances of the proposed acoustic echo canceller for stereo through simulations. The results of simulations show that the acoustic echo canceller for stereo using this algorithm operates stably without divergence in the normal state. And, when the speech signals were inputted, this echo canceller achieved about 2dB higher ERLE with the BSS post processing method than without this method. This stereo echo canceller showed the best performance in the case of inputting the real voice signal.

  • An stereophonic acoustic echo canceller cannot exactly estimate the echo path in the receiving room, because of the cross-correlation between stereo signals. In this paper, the new preprocessing filter is proposed to reduce the cross-correlation between the signals without influence on stereophonic sound. Two channel signals are linearly decorrelated by using orthogonality principles and the attenuated absolute values of the decorrelated signals are added to each channel input signals. Assuming that the power of each channel signal is larger than that of the cross-correlation, computational burden is reduced.

스테레오 음향반향제거를 위한 간략화된 직교투사 알고리즘 (A Simplified Orthogonal Projection Algorithm for Stereo Acoustic Echo Cancellation)

  • 본 논문에서는 스테레오 음향반향제거기의 수렴특성을 향상시키기 위한 간략화된 직교투사법을 제안한다. 간단하고 안정되어 널리 사용되고 있는 기존의 NLMS 알고리즘과 비교하여, 이 기술은 음성신호와 같이 상호상관도가 높은 신호에 대해 수렴성능이 향상되고 연산량이 감소한다. 본 연구에서 제안한 SOP 알고리즘의 성능을 검증하기 위하여 모의실험용 프로그램을 작성하고 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 입력신호의 종류와 적응 알고리즘에 따라서 반향제거기의 수렴특성을 관찰한 결과, 제안한 알고리즘을 적용한 스테레오 반향제거기는 백색 잡음을 입력으로 사용하는 경우 약 3dB 정도, 유색 음성신호를 입력으로 사용하는 경우 약 5dB 이상의 ERLE 성능이 개선되는 것을 보여 주었다.

  • In stereo acoustic echo canceller scheme, adaptive filters coefficients converge very slowly or misconverge to real acoustic echo path in receiving room. This is due to cross-correlation between channel signals. In this paper, new preprocessor using absolute difference factor between stereo signals is proposed to reduce cross-correlation between signals. Computer simulations demonstrate that this preprocessor perform well to the half wave rectifier which has simple and good performance of the several preprocessors in recent papers. When the paths in transmitting room change, performance does not degrade in proposed preprocessor.

Deep Learning-Based Sound Localization Using Stereo Signals Based on Synchronized ILD

  • The interaural level difference (ILD) used for the sound localization using stereo signals is to find the difference in energy that the sound source reaches both ears. The conventional ILD does not consider the time difference of the stereo signals, which is a factor of lowering the accuracy. In this paper, we propose a synchronized ILD that obtains the ILD after synchronizing these time differences. This method uses the cross-correlation function (CCF) to calculate the time difference to reach both ears and use it to obtain synchronized ILD. In order to prove the performance of the proposed method, we conducted two sound localization experiments. In each experiment, the synchronized ILD and CCF or only the synchronized ILD were given as inputs of the deep neural networks (DNN), respectively. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of sound localization with mean error and accuracy of sound localization. Experimental results show that the proposed method has better performance than the conventional methods.

  • 스테레오 신호간의 상호상관 때문에 일반적인 적응 필터는 수신실의 음향 반향 경로를 정확하게 추정하지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 스테레오 신호의 음질을 크게 저하시키지 않으면서 신호간의 상호상관을 줄여 스테레오 음향 반향 제거기의 성능을 향상시키는 새로운 전처리 방법을 제안한다. 상호 상관을 줄이기 위하여 각 채널 신호로부터 서로 직교하는 두 신호를 구하고 그 절대값을 원신호에 더한다. 각 채널 신호의 전력이 두 채널 신호의 상호상관도보다 크다는 가정을 활용하여 서로 직교하는 신호를 구하기 위한 계산량을 감소시켰다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안하는 전처리 방법을 채용한 스테레오 음향 반향 제거기의 성능이 기존의 방법보다 우수함을 보인다.

  • A fast stereo algorithm for 3D depth estimation is presented. We propose an on-line stereo matching technique, by which the flows of stereo image signals are dynamically controlled to satisfy the matching condition of intensity functionals. The disparity is rapidly estimated from the control of. the signal flows and 3D depth is determined from the disparity.

Multi-band Approach to Deep Learning-Based Artificial Stereo Extension

  • In this paper, an artificial stereo extension method that creates stereophonic sound from a mono sound source is proposed. The proposed method first trains deep neural networks (DNNs) that model the nonlinear relationship between the dominant and residual signals of the stereo channel. In the training stage, the band-wise log spectral magnitude and unwrapped phase of both the dominant and residual signals are utilized to model the nonlinearities of each sub-band through deep architecture. From that point, stereo extension is conducted by estimating the residual signal that corresponds to the input mono channel signal with the trained DNN model in a sub-band domain. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated using a log spectral distortion (LSD) measure and multiple stimuli with a hidden reference and anchor (MUSHRA) test. The results showed that the proposed method provided a lower LSD and higher MUSHRA score than conventional methods that use hidden Markov models and DNN with full-band processing.
