This paper proposes a stereo image insertion technique on DCT coefficients using the embedded method developed in the digital watermarking in due consideration of compatibility with conventional 2D system such JPEG, and MPEG. In conventional transmission method users with conventional digital TV cannot watch the transmitted 3D image sequence as 2D image, because of affectivity of conventional 3D image compression. To give an answer, in this paper, DCT coefficients are changed according to its disparity on YCbCr channels. Our method can insert stereo images into a conventional image compression method based on DCT.
The ordinary stereo image of an object consists of data of left and right views. Therefore, the left and right image pairs have to be transmitted simultaneously in order to display 3-dimentional video at the remote site. However, due to the twice data in comparing with a monoscopic image of the same object, it needs to be compressed for fast transmission and resource saving. Hence, it needs an effective coding algorithm for compressing stereo image. It was found previously that compressing left and right frames independently will achieve the compression ratio lower than compressing by utilizing the spatial redundancy between both frames. Therefore, in this paper, we study the stereo image compression technique based on the multiresolution wavelet transform using varied disparity-block size for estimation and compensation. The size of disparity-block in the stereo pair subbands are scaling on a coarse-to-fine wavelet coefficients strategy. Finally, the reference left image and residual right image after disparity estimation and compensation are coded by using SPIHT coding. The considered method demonstrates good performance in both PSNR measures and visual quality for stereo image.

This paper proposes a new 3D image transmission technique using digital watermarking for compatibility with conventional 2D digital TV. To transmit 3D images effectively, generally, we use image sequence transmission using temporal-spatial redundancy between stereo images. It is difficult for users with conventional digital TV to watch the transmitted 3D image sequence because of effectivity of 3D image compression. To improve such problem, in this paper, we perceive the concealment of new information of digital watermarking and conceal information of the other stereo image into three channels of the reference image. So we can watch the image with 3D TV as well as conventional digital TV when it is decoded.
This paper presents a stereo-based image compression and transmission system for 3D realistic television. In the proposed system, a disparity map is extracted from an input stereo image pair and the extracted disparity map and one of two input images are transmitted or stored at a local or remote site. However, correspondences can not be determined in occlusion areas. Thus, it is not easy to recover 3D information in such regions. In this paper, a reconstruction image compensation algorithm based on error block concealment and in-loop filtering is proposed to minimize the reconstruction error in generating stereo image pair. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is shown in term of objective accuracy of reconstruction image with several real stereo image pairs.

Imbalances in focus, luminance and color between stereo Pairs could cause disparity vector estimation error and increment of transmission data. If the distribution of errors in residual image is large, it may influence to lowering of compression performance. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an efficient balancing method between stereo pairs to reduce the effect. For this, we registrated stereo images using a FFT based method to consider the pixels in the occluded region, we eliminated the pixels of blocks which has large error of disparity vector estimation in balancing function estimation. The balancing function has estimated using histogram specification, local information of target image and residual image between stereo images. Experiments show that the proposed method is effective in error distribution, PSNR and disparity vector estimation. We expect that our method can be improving compression efficiency in stereo coding system.
In the underwater environment, light is absorbed and scattered by water and floating particles, which makes the underwater images suffer from color degradation and limited visibility. Physically, the amount of the scattered light transmitted to the image is proportional to the distance between the camera and the object. In this paper, the proposed visibility enhancement. method utilizes depth images to estimate the light transmission and the degradation factor by the scattered light. To recover the scatter-free images without unnatural artifacts, the proposed method normalizes the degradation factor based on the value of each pixel of the image. Finally, the scatter-free images are obtained by removing the scattered components on the image according to the estimated transmission. The proposed method also considers the color discrepancies of underwater stereo images so that the stereo images have the same color appearance after the visibility enhancement. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves the color contrast more than 5% to 14% depending on the experimental images.
This paper proposes an efficient data representation of stereo images using edge-based mesh optimization. Mash-based two dimensional warping for stereo images mainly depends on the performance of a node selection and a disparity estimation of selected nodes. Therefore, the proposed method first of all constructs the feature map which consists of both strong edges and boundary lines of objects for node selection and then generates a grid-based mesh structure using initial nodes. The displacement of each nodal position is iteratively estimated by minimizing the predicted errors between target image and predicted image after two dimensional warping for local area. Generally, iterative two dimensional warping for optimized nodal position required a high time complexity. To overcome this problem, we assume that input stereo images are only horizontal disparity and that optimal nodal position is located on the edge include object boundary lines. Therefore, proposed iterative warping method performs searching process to find optimal nodal position only on edge lines along the horizontal lines. In the experiments, we compare our proposed method with the other mesh-based methods with respect to the quality by using Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) according to the number of nodes. Furthermore, computational complexity for an optimal mesh generation is also estimated. Therefore, we have the results that our proposed method provides an efficient stereo image representation not only fast optimal mesh generation but also decreasing of quality deterioration in spite of a small number of nodes through our experiments.
In this paper, Stereo 4K@60fps 360 VR real-time video capture system which consists of video stream capture, video encoding and stitching module is been designed. The system captures stereo 4K@60fps 360 VR video by stitching 6 of 2K@60fps stream which are captured through HDMI interface from 6 cameras in real-time. In video capture phase, video is captured from each camera using multi-thread in real-time. In video encoding phase, raw frame memory transmission and parallel encoding are used to reduce the resource usage in data transmission between video capture and video stitching modules. In video stitching phase, Real-time stitching is secured by stitching calibration preprocessing.
In this paper, we present an algorithm for synthesizing intermediate view image from a stereoscopic pair of images. An image of multiview is need for people in order to easily recognize 3D image. However, if many cameras are use for that, not only does system get more complicated but also transmission rating cause a big trouble. Hence, stereo images are photograph and issue on the sending side and algorithm to generate several intermediate view image is able to be use on the receiving side. The proposed method is based on disparity space image. First of all, disparity space image that is depicted by the gap of pixel followed by disparity of stereo image is generated. Disparity map is made by utilizing disparity space image for searching for optimal disparity path then eventual intermediate view image is generated after occlusion region which does not match is processed. Experimental results illustrate the performance of the proposed technique and we obtained a high quality image of more than 30 dB PSNR.

In this paper, a new web-based remote 3D imaging communication system employing an adaptive matching algorithm is suggested. In the proposed method, feature values are extracted from the stereo image pair through estimation of the disparity and similarities between each pixel of the stereo image. And then, the matching window size for disparity estimation is adaptively selected depending on the magnitude of this feature value. Finally, the detected disparity map and the left image is transmitted into the client region through the network channel. And then, in the client region, right image is reconstructed and intermediate views be synthesized by a linear combination of the left and right images using interpolation in real-time. From some experiments on web based-transmission in real-time and synthesis of the intermediate views by using two kinds of stereo images of 'Joo' & 'Hoon' captured by real camera, it is analyzed that PSNRs of the intermediate views reconstructed by using the proposed transmission scheme are highly measured by 30dB for 'Joo', 27dB for 'Hoon' and the delay time required to obtain the intermediate image of 4 view is also kept to be very fast value of 67.2ms on average, respectively.
